If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Recently purchased my 2011 4.6 with 58K miles on it. Problems I've found are:
- car pulls to the right.
- getting a whirring sound from front wheels at highway speed. Bad wheel bearings?
- side view mirror control switch will occasionally not tilt the mirrors down. Appears to be a bad contact.
- Not impressed with the Lexicon sound system, compared to other premium cars I've owned. Mid to low end bass is lacking. I see an upgrade in my future.
- Ride is harsher than other premium cars I've owned. Any suspension mods available to soften the ride?
Bringing the car into the dealer tomorrow to address some of these issues, before my bumper to bumper warranty runs out at 60K.
On the other hand, I am very happy with performance, mileage (33 mpg highway with 385 Hp!). The interior has no squeaks, or rattles even on rutty roads. The drivers seat is one of the most comfortable I've sat in. The car still feels as tight as a brand new car.
All in all, I'm very happy with it, especially considering the purchase price of $21,000 and a certified pre-owned 10 year/ 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

You can adjust treble/mid/bass in the settings. You can add/subtract any of those three to suit your listening pleasure.

Personally, I love the Lexicon system. It's the best factory system I've ever owned. I feel the Lexicon in the Genesis and the Mark Levinson in the Lexus are as equal as any two systems can be. Beats the heck out of the crappy Bose systems that come in some other cars.

Speaking of Bose.... I've been told when a dealer takes on the Bose brand, they have to agree not to locate the Bose speakers near the other speakers provided by other manufacturers. This prevents the prospective buyer from any direct comparisons with other brands. There's only one reason to do this.

Back to my ongoing Blue Link debacle. I finally took it in today, and the service guy said, based on my described problem (blue link doesn't recognize commands and on speaker phone my voice is garbled to listeners), that there's a chance they might need to replace the whole DIS. Head unit, navi, everything--as it all comes and goes together. I go back in on Friday for an official diagnosis and next steps.

They said it could have been the microphone, but the fact that the mic works perfectly for the Navi commands, but not the Blue Link or speaker phone--means its probably not the mic, but an inherent flawed DIS. We'll see on Friday.

Anything I need to watch out for if they decide to replace my DIS?

Ps. Car is 2 months old. Problem with Blue link and speaker phone since driving off the lot.

DIS "BACK" button intermittently sticking.
Replaced under warranty.

They replaced the flywheel - that did not solve the noise problem. Today they are putting in a new transmission. We will see if that solves the issue. I have now been without the car for a month. Not a happy camper.

New transmission put in my 2012 Genesis- not making me feel like this is a reliable car- when in 1 month I had new compressor and now new transmission.

Mine still has the problem with the memory setting for the steering wheel. I purchased it used just 3 weeks ago w/37K miles. Rides very good, low road noise, very tight, but, the seats/mirrors/steering wheel would not hold a memory setting.

This is my 3rd trip to get the steering setting fixed. It seems they will only fix one problem at a time!! Anyway, the part is ordered (new steering column) and is being fixed under warranty (whew).

I've still got a rear end noise. Sounds like it's coming from the right side (rear), it's kind of a fluttering clunking sound. (best way I can describe it) It happens under moderate to heavy acceleration and only lasts about a second or so.

I'll wait till they get my steering column replaced prior to telling them about the rear end noise.

Mine is been in twice for the steering wheel positioning thing. The first time they changed the switch associated with the positioning system. It worked for about 1 week. I thought seriously about whether I should just leave it or pursue it further. I mean with 27,000 miles I’ve had no problems except this one pretty damn good reliability record in my book. Then I said it would be nice it everything worked just right so in it went again. This time the control module was replaced. Well the good news is the steering wheel does position itself right on entry/start and moves up on shutoff/exit. The bad news is it’ll only do it for 1 memory position and not the other. I did try the resetting procedure outlined in another thread but no go. One position memory and that’s it. Now I will leave it as is… should be the worst thing that happens to the car.

I don't know if I have a problem or not. I have a 2013 Genesis w/Tech pkg. When using xm I usually leave the radio on a xm3 station. Whenever I turn the car on the radio plays the station for a few seconds and then reverts to a XM1 station( I think the last XM1 I have listened to prior to turning to XM3).

Any comments ...is that normal or not. I can't remember if that happened when I first purchased and I don't remember it happening on my 2009 non tech Genesis.

thanks

I've experienced a few minor problems with my 2010 4.6 with Tech. first year,
Tilt steering wheel module replaced, brake light switch replaced, check engine light was the most annoying, fixed, replaced an o2 sensor, came on again next day, reset by dealer, came on again 2 hrs later, ended up it was a faulty fuel pump, replaced and have not had any issues with the car in the last 2 years. Love this car, best bang for the buck. Hopefully will trade for a 2015 if they do not price it out of reality.

My Issues:
29,000 R Spec 2012

Severe pulling - On my 2nd set of Conti Pro Contact.
Hyundai replaced them at 10,000.
Now same problems exist and tires show signs of wearing out at 20,000 mi.

Oil Consumption - 1 qrt / 1000 miles - Being monitored now.

I am sure this was covered but didn't have time to read all 10+ pages.
Cold start - after sitting over night - engine runs to around 1600-1900 rpm, with slight but noticeable tremor/shakes, after about 5 seconds, squeaking noise-sound like belts are moving around to find their rightful place. Maybe its the pesky rodents - er, wait, that's Kia - After 10 seconds, idles come back down to 900 or so RPM and runs fine. Took it to dealer, left it overnight but they claim they could not duplicate the problem. Tried to show them a video I took but if they can't duplicate the problem, they cannot fix. Anyone found reason or a permanent fix?

Think about what you did the day before the cold start. Did you start the car and back it out of the garage and then shut it off without warming it up? Then let it sit over night before you got the shakes?

I can duplicate this event on my Genesis and on my Lexus. If you start the car, let it warm up before shutting it off.

Its normal for a engine to have a high idle for a few seconds especially after sitting overnight iirc this is to get the cat converters to start working faster.

Thanks. What I was more concerned with shakes/and the squeaky/squealing noise. Just wanted to add the rpm note in case someone had similar issue.

I noticed the shake also, wondering if that's an inherent nature of a direct injection engine. Does the squeeks go away?

Whats the compression on the 3.8 gdi motor anyway?

Yeah, I had the shakes...Did you read my post about 2 posts above?

Radio problems.

1) When HD checked ....no sound from am/fm but sound from xm and jukebox

2) when using xm 2, xm3 reverts to xm 1 when turned off and back on later.

3) when using fm2 and turned off and back on later reverts to fm1

Minor but for over $44K radio should work....anyone have similar problem???
