If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Think about what you did the day before the cold start. Did you start the car and back it out of the garage and then shut it off without warming it up? Then let it sit over night before you got the shakes?

I can duplicate this event on my Genesis and on my Lexus. If you start the car, let it warm up before shutting it off.
Usually driven and engine is nice and warm when returned from work/errands. There are times when we pull it out to wash and put it right back. I don't see a correlation between shutting of warm or cold engine.

I noticed the shake also, wondering if that's an inherent nature of a direct injection engine. Does the squeeks go away?

Whats the compression on the 3.8 gdi motor anyway?
Squeaks/squealing goes away after about 10-15 seconds.
Can we post video on this forum? I have a video of this issue.

This thread explains.........The Tau does not like to be shut off and restarted without at very very least warming up the cats, otherwise people have reported issues.

I just discovered same am/fm problem. It used to work and i don't use it much but when i tried the other day, no sound am/fm. What did you learn/do?

New problem.

Wheel vibration 30 mph and up. It's been to 3 different shops 5 times for a total for $140 in balancing. Roadforce balancing shows the wheels are not bent and there is no tire runout. I called Hyundai Customer Care to push them into looking more into it since they gave up simply after eyeballing bushings and balancing the tires. When Hyundai called the dealer to find out what was up and to see if they needed to send their regional guy over the dealership lied and said they found the problem and then made up something that A) was never brought up to me as a cause because B) I could have told them that this can't even cause it to begin with. So as far as Hyundai Customer Care is concerned this issue has been resolved. Where we are now is that they want me to shell out $1,200 to "test" a possible solution because they won't investigate further.

when in fm or am mode check to see if HD is checked. If it is uncheck that should correct. I have a problem that they promote HD radio but then it doesn't work :-(

I didn't like the way the drivers seat leather was loosening up, told it was normal wear, I'll live with it.
But I do like the way a 4 door '13 5.0 R-Spec blows the doors off of so many cars!

Awaiting a new radio head. The HD apparently went out on the original.

Anyone esle feel like the driver seat pops when coming to a stop? Every time I slow down to a stop it feels like the seat has some play and move a tiny bit and makes a pop sound.

Damn! Car wouldn't start last Saturday morning. I put a charger on the jumper posts overnight and the car fired right up. Looks like I'll be replacing the battery in the Spring.

As you also live in Minnesota, you know that batteries failing is a common occurrence. Usually this happens when its 20 below zero in January. And it happens when you have to be some place critical and on-time. Everyone is out of batteries then and when you do find one, you'll pay through the nose.

The best thing I ever did starting about 25 years ago, was to replace my battery when it was 4 years old. I could pick a nice sunny afternoon in October, get a good price on the battery I wanted. I have not had a problem since! Batteries are are good cheap insurance against a very large inconvenience. It's just not worth it to push them to the point of failure.

Your car is now about 5 years old, right?

I hear ya...I usually replace batteries between 6-8 years when purchased new. The Genesis has a lot of electronics compared to any of my previous vehicles, so I'm not super surprised it's a little tired. However, I am surprised that the battery never gave any warning, such as hard starts etc. I should be good for the next couple of months before winter though.

I had issues with wheel vibration and cupping of my tires. Hyundai said I needed $2500 on new suspension parts. I took it to a well respected front end shop. They aligned (a little less toe in than factory and much higher tire air pressure). The tires are running smoothly and wearing beautifully.

However, I am surprised that the battery never gave any warning, such as hard starts etc.

I came back from a week-long trip to find the battery dead, no warnings. Turns out, it was the infamous missing hood alarm tamper switch button.
After that I noticed a couple hard/slow starts.

Almost replaced the battery before checking the forums... glad I checked. Saved me $130 (Walmart). Dealer replaced the button for free (warranty/TSB).

Ha! I forgot to mention that I also DID check for the rubber stop, which my car still has. I actually was hoping I was missing this piece for an easy fix, but no such luck:)

A quick note about batteries; Most batteries will die due to hot summer temps than cold winter temps. It may take until winter before the problem surfaces, but, it's the heat that's the bigger culprit vs winter.

^ Agreed! I've had more battery failures when I lived in So. Cal. than I have in Minnesota.

Purchased new and only 200 miles on the clock.
Front passenger power seat does everything but moving backward.
Scheduled to come in today to be checked out.
Will post a follow up.

Came in on Saturday.
Bad switch/relay as I was told.
The tech was able to unfreeze it and got it move either direction but the new switch will be ordered anyway to prevent furture recurrence.

Steering wheel has frozen in place three times. Last time the memory module proved bad, too, as it would not retain my input from the memory buttons on the door.

Seat cushion motor failed ( or some electrical part that blocked the signal) twice, but i drove it broken for 25,000 miles because it broke in my position. Then it broke a month after fixed the first time.

Keyless entry button stopped functioning normally. Replaced at 56,000 miles.

Trim pieces broken during the repair of the seat cushion took a week to come in.
