Get the 2009 in Canada.

The version I bought - 2009 V-6 with Premium Package - MSRP on the 2010s went up by $3,000.00!

The 2010 V6 with premium in Canada has touchscreen nav, the 14 speaker Lexicon (I think you have the 7 speaker from the US base car) and the leather dash, though. Worth $3000? Up to you.

It's weird how the touchscreen nav is included in the Canadian premium, while in the US there's a "premium with navigation" separate package.

The TPMS light continues to go on and off by itself. The dealer also continues to say Hyundai is working on this. Doesn't affect performance, but iritating to see it.

Update,
Got the car back the next day, dealer checked for code errors and software issues, claimed the battery had to be jumped which reset the system.
Next day, same problem, call dealer, awaiting fix.

My back ground;
Air Force aircraft master technician for 20 years. Troubleshooting is an art and requires patience's and persistence. The last thing I expect is a top of the head answer to a complicated issue. If you don't know, say you don't know. The car will not go back to the dealership until the manufacturer has isolated the problem, come up with a fix and repair the car. As owners, this site is powerful and informative; we have to address issues on one accord. Keep up the updates.
More to come...........

Ok, months later the issue is back! Called the dealer for more info on the problem, they are pretending as if I never had the car in for the problem, now I'm P.O'd!
So I called the 1800 number and reported my finding, now I'm starting to get attention. Dealer wants the car back, not going to happen until someone acknowledge a problem in service.

I've had some minor audio issues--details posted elsewhere--but the other issues were dealer-caused (scratched rim on Premium-Plus pkg--they replaced it). All that occurred when they found I had a tire with a slipped belt. Scratch (actually a pretty deep gouge) occurred when they changed the tire. I had them look at a pin stripe they put on--it was peeling off the front passenger side. They fixed it.

Come August 2, it will be one year since I've purchased this car (I bought the first one in Knoxville, TN, where I live), and I enjoy getting into it and driving it every bit as much as I did on day one! I still get "ooos" and "ahhs"....it's really great!

Okay, okay, right up front this is OFF TOPIC. You are not by any chance Dan, Dan the Pizza Man from Nashville are you?

It seems like most of problems being sited are with the 2009 model. Has anybody had any similar problems with the 2010 model? I'm looking to get a car in the next month or two and I'm leaning toward the Genesis. As of right now, I haven't decided between the 2009 or the 2010, but if it seems a lot of the problems/bugs have been corrected in the 2010 model, then I should go with the 2010

Its January 2010, the only model that's been out (until very recently) is the 2009 model. If you want to know how reliable the 2010 is, wait until 2011 and then compare posts between 2009 and 2010.

Good grief.

Brake lights stopped working so the dealer had to replace a bad diode.

We have a slight ticking noise on the passenger side but can't determine where its coming from so we will ask the dealer to check it the next time its in for service.

And lastly, paint chips on the driver's door sill. My wife's high heals are the culpret but I have some doubts that the paint is substandard and chips easy.

I know the paint on my Santa Fe was very easily scratched - just looking at it seemed to scratch it. I always wondered if it was missing a clearcoat or something. The Genny I don't know. I did notice for some reason the Genny would kick up more pebbles and stuff than other cars typically do when I drove.
That could have an effect.

I took it in Dec. 5th with:
1- Steering memory
2- Control buttons for fan and temp(had to press hard to work)
3- Drivers seat bottom
4- cover for trunk lock cover came off

As of January 9th when I was told the car was ready(joke) the mechanic could not duplicate 1 and 2 until I showed him.
Did not now how 4 worked even though they had 3 Genesis in the show room.
3-They drove the car 46 miles round trip to have a shop change the seat bottom leather and still looked the same.

When I had the car towed to them because it would not start while sitting in a warm garage for 3 weeks(had to have it jumped and then flat bedded to the dealer) they could not duplicated the problem.
I spoke to the Service Rep with my disapointment that I came 13 miles and he did not make sure that my issues were taken care of.
After speaking to the owners son and showed him the issues again, they promised me I would have the car with in a week. I even told him of the TSB on the steering issue and that his mechanic should have known.
They removed the hole seat from one at the show room but because of people getting in and out it looked the same.
I was told it was ready for pick-up January 16. 43 days to repair a car.
They repaired the rest of the problems but scratched the hell out of the door sill installing the new seat.
Scratched and nicked the bezel for the HVAC controls.
My worst peeve was how dirty the car was including the half tank of gas someone wasted.
I am writing Hyundai about my experience with them and see what they will do.
I just can not fathom how they can operated like this.
I forgot how wonderful the car is and had to learn to drive it again.
Still loving the car.

43 days for those issues?? Incompetent dealer. What dealership did you go to? Did they provide you a loaner? What were they telling you when they were informing you about the status of the repairs?

If Hyundai doesn't make their wrongdoing right, I would file a lemon claim immediately - get your money back - 43 days is an absurd amount of time to wait. Especially as a new "luxury" vehicle owner, you should not have to go through any of that bullshit

Bought my used 2009 Genesis 3.8 with tech package and "wings" (gets lots of looks) with 24k miles on it and owned for 2 months now. People stop me and ask what type of car it is. Love the car. Only minor problems so far:

1)ECS light and check engine light came on for seemingly no reason the dealer could find. Dealer called it going into "failsafe" mode during driving. I was driving along about 45 mph and all the sudden the check engine light and ECS light lit solid and the engine reduced rpms to about 1200 and speed reduced to about 25 mph and I couldn't accelerate above 25 at all. Pulled over to a parking lot and turned off and restarted the engine, ECS light went off and check engine remained on. I could at least accelerate now. Took it to the dealer next morning. Checked the codes and found like 4 codes in history but only TSB he applied was one that changed out the car's electrical "ground strap". Picked up car and check engine light is off. Will monitor to see if it pops up again.

2)Review camera went black and snowy second night I owned the car. I thought it was because it was too dark to see but was still black next morning during daylight backing out of garage. I made an appointment to take in but when I got in the car from work, it was working again. No problems since. Gremlin I guess.

3) not sure if a problem or not but the car seems to surge very slightly during driving at any speed below 40 for a steady period of time. By surging, it feels like a indecisive transmission shifting sort of thing. And the only strange performance issue is an occasional quick off the line snap when pressing the accelerator very slowly to go from 0 to 20 from a dead stop. Frequently slaps passengers heads against their headrests. I am training myself to feather the pedal a bit more when starting off. I reported it to the dealer and they couldnt' reproduce it. Ive been driving 33 years and owned close to 40 cars (own several at a time having kids) and this one is the only one I have owned with that sort of hesitation from 0 to 20 then kicks in after you press the accelerator a little bit in. We all laugh and I say it is a performance car. Not a biggie but you do notice it about 1 in every 5 accelerations. Not sure what this is but it isn't bad enough to complain to the dealer about.

The Lexicon hi end sound system is awesome by the way. I bought the car after test driving it. I enjoy a quiet car at highway speeds commuting to work with a nice stereo. Best I have experienced personally. Not speaking for others but for me was a very nice treat for me.

:mad:OK, the soga continues. The car has been in the shop since Monday the 1st of February. The tech folks have no clue at this point. After my phone call to "Headquarters", engineers have been involved and passing troubleshooting tips down to the tech folks. After several attempts, the problem still exist and techies have their hands in the air, waiting on more suggestions from the top. If this continues, I'm going to invoke the Florida lemon law. Sucks I have to take this to this level, my wife really loves the car. Also sucks to make payments on a car this is not driveable.

I have the "Easy Access" features turned on for both the steering and the seat. I drive with the seat all the way back (6'5" tall), so "Easy Access" will not move the seat, but I have the steering wheel out about 1.5" of horizontal travel and about halfway between full up and down on the vertical.

How do you turn this feature on/off?

It's weird how the touchscreen nav is included in the Canadian premium, while in the US there's a "premium with navigation" separate package.

There's been a similar change in the packages down in the lower 48. A friend of mine just bought a 2010 3.8 and has the premium nav. pkg. He has the touchscreen nav, the Lexicon upgrade AND the backup camera feature. Maybe you included that in the touchscreen navigation pkg.

Does he have the front radar sensors telling you when you get too close and does he have the oark and hold feature?

Thanks.

How do you turn this feature on/off?

On the central control panel:
1. Push INFO/PHONE button until the INFO menu comes up.
2. Select CAR SETTINGS
3. Select SEAT EASY ACCESS
4. Select ON/OFF

See the Driver Information System Manual pages 268-272 for a more detailed discussion.

2. Pinhead-sized pitting all over the windshield. Car only has 10 said:
Possible, Car transported in front position on transporter truck without canvas shielding, car may also have pited front paint.

My battery repeatly goes dead if car not used 3 days.

really? Mine has sat in the garage for over a week at a time without battery issues multiple times. Most of the time it gets a 3 or 4 day "rest" in the garage while I drive a different car to the packed parking lot at work. I've never had an issue with the battery being low.

I start mine about once a month pretty much just to hear the exhaust and let it run for about 10 minutes. Starts just as fast as it did when I drove it daily before storage.

I love this car:)

My battery repeatly goes dead if car not used 3 days.

Obviously a problem here. I went away on a business trip for two weeks and my car sat in a sub-zero garage (I live in MA). Pushed the button when I got home and it fired up like it had just been running.
