Have you had problems with your Genesis?

Got the 2015 AWD Ultimate package.

Almost immediately... AEB error code turns on and off at random times. Then Cruise control error light turns on once.

@1500 miles Engine light blinking. Took it in... Crankshaft sensor needed to be replaced.

@3000 miles Engine light blinks again during a 2.5 hour drive. A few times, the engine runs rough during idle at stop lights, but eventually stops running rough. Took it in. 3 day service to take the engine and transmission completely out to replace crankshaft or something like that.

AEB error still turns on at random times.

@4100 miles. Now Airbag sensor light and lane departure sensor errors according to Bluelink. Taking it in again after I post this message.

WHAT A PITA! NEVER in my life have I had so many car problems, especially on a brand new car! I'm hoping I'll qualify for lemon if the crankshaft issue happens again.

I have a problem with the steering pump (I think) or the steering valving. While under way, when making just the slightest left movement of the steering wheel, I get a whine. Never to the right. Haven't had the car (2012 3.8) very long but will have the dealer check it out. Anybody else had this issue?

2013 Genesis sedan 3.8L w/. 34k miles. Engine light illuminated last week while car was idling. Engine began running very rough and "stumbling". Had it towed next day to dealer where they diagnosed short in throttle body and replaced throttle body on warranty. Running fine since then and it was my first problem with the car thus far.

2012 R Spec March build date. Just had a new engine AND a transmission replacement. Seriously had to replace the entire engine and transmission.

Just had my engine block (2011 3.8) replaced. Started losing coolant; eventually (long story) found to be faulty casting. Was told that some other Hyundai's have had this issue but first Genny they've seen. Otherwise!! no problems (and no help from Hyundai).

none, until now - experiencing the overheating of amp - sound not working until it cools off also had to have the passenger door inside handle replaced due to the metal peeling.

I love this car though

i think i have the same problem with the amp. did you have it replaced under warranty?

how often does it happen to you?

Wondering if you two with the overheating amp problem are having trouble because of where you live. I live in a hot climate too but the car is almost always parked in the shade (or inside garage) so the trunk, where the amp is located, doesn't tend to get overheated.

Can you think back to when the problem occurred whether the car was parked in the sun for a time prior? Might be a design issue. Seems kind of rare though.

i live in south florida, and it happens in the summer time mostly. happens at weird times. but its hot in florida in the summer.

last time it happened was early march after driving for 2 hours on highway, stopped to use restroom, pulled over for less than 10 minutes at rest stop. got back in car and no audio. had to drive last 50 minutes of the trip in silence.

The Smart Cruise just keeps downshifting and downshifting and the brakes fight the engine to try to keep the car at a set speed while the RPMs dangerously rise. I cut it off at 4,500 RPM at 55 mph on level highway. It also jabs the brakes violently if you just tap the brake pedal to disengage the cruise when it's doing that.

They replaced one of the radar modules and the AEB braking module but it's still doing it. So tomorrow they are replacing the entire master cruise computer module. I so want this car to be fixed. I love everything about it, but that cruise control isn't just unusable, it's dangerous. Definitely not the wonderful experience I had hoped for when I got this car three weeks ago.

I'm glad the rest of the car is working. The adaptive cruise control has been working well since the 2009 model so I'm sure it's one of those weird issues on your car but once it's fixed you should be good to go.

I don't have my '13 G1 anymore, but in 2 years of ownership I have had zero problems with that car. Absolutely nothing. Traded in with 20k miles on obo.

I hope, I'll be able to say the same thing about my '15 5.0 in 2 years from now

You can try this:

Hi. Newbie here and had same loss of audio with in first three days of ownership, dealer fairly close so took it in and tech found loss of power to amplifier. remedy was to replace 10 amp fuse for radio amp in left side of dash in fuse panel. Been no further problems at this time. Tech even gave me a couple of additional fuses and a fuse puller.

If it fixes itself after leaving the car off for a few hours, that fix should work. If not, it could be a physical connection or AMP issue and it should be under warranty so you could have it checked out.

NEVER turn your volume up 100%. That is a sure way to destroy your amplifier and/or speakers (not to mention damage to your ears).

Not enough information. What "sensors"? What are the codes, if any? When, and under what circumstances does the shutdown occur?

And ....is car still under warranty? An immediate shutdown could be considered a severe safety issue requiring dealer and/or manufacturer intervention.

If you continue driving this car with the knowledge that it could shut down without notice and it is involved in a collision with an innocent vehicle you could be held responsible. I would get it into the shop immediately.

Hi everyone

Newbie here and a happy owner of a 2014 Genesis Sedan 3.8. We love the car and haven't had really any problems to speak of.

The one thing that is a problem is the front grill chrome is starting to peel. Has anyone else had a problem with this ?

In April 2016 I purchased a new 2015 Genesis with a V8 engine. Before I had 1,700 miles I noticed a problem: during rapid acceleration the car would noticeably hesitate and then shift very abruptly into the next gear with a noticeable jerk. The issue was repeatable both from a stop and while accelerating to pass another vehicle. Needless to say, I consider this condition very dangerous as I can never be sure whether I can safely pull out into traffic or safely pass another vehicle.

The dealer has had my car for 24 days and are non-communicative as to what they are doing to resolve the problem. This week I escalated to both the Service manager and GM and have received a total to ZERO calls from them.

I have started the lemon process per FL Lemon Law.

This has been a disastrous experience and I expect to turn the matter over to my attorney next week.
