If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Two problems.
Had the car go completely dead on me. Had to have it towed to a dealer.
It was a software/computer failure. They had the car for two days before it was fixed.
I've also had a event where there was no sound coming from the audio system for several hours...then all of a sudden blink, it comes back on.
No problems since then.

I was one of the first "no sound out of speaker" problems.

Back then I was pretty upset. They couldn't seem to fix it and communicated poorly with me. As more owners turned up with the problems, they figured out the cure.

Now that I have been trouble free for so long, I really enjoy the car.

If you had asked me back then, I wouldn't have called it a minor issue as I was so aggravated, but now I do call it minor.

Mine is only 2 days old, 3 (or 4, if you want to split hairs) problems so far, all minor:
1 - Horrible wind wistle from sunroof when roof is open, can't stand to drive with roof open. Noise is actually not as bad if you grab the pop-up spoiler and pull it down while driving, so the spoiler is deploying.
2 - Sunroof also has serious wind whistle when rear is popped up in vent position - can't use it at all.
3 - Driver's side visor mirror cover won't slide open. I don't like to look at myself anyway, so that's no big deal...
4 - Intermittently, car does not recognize that I have my foot on the brake and will not start when I press Start button. I have to try starting it 2-3 times before it agrees to go - happens with either key. That one is a little scary.
Love the car so far and can't wait to make some of the mods I see here on the forum.

Re: 1&2. Try cracking open the windows to equalize the pressure. Otherwise, the car is basically acting as a wind instrument. Also, you might want to consider adding a sunroof deflector to divert the airstream up and around the open roof.

#3 - Dealer can fix at no charge

#4 - Definitely needs dealer attention

And congrats on the new car!

Can you explain the fix from the dealership to us so we can have some knowledge to give to our dealership. Thanks

I -assume- he's referring to the amplifier issue known on early models. If so, there's a TSB available... just instruct your dealer to review the bulletins.

I assume this is similar to the "gremlin" issues I keep having with my audio?
Turn on the car...no audio sound. Next time the IPod has no sound.
This is getting frustrating. Software glitch? Something the dealer can fix with just a reboot or update?
Thanks

Like Mixmaster Mikey's car, the little plastic flap that springs up and covers the trunk lid latch on my new 4.6 has come loose, for the second time now. The first time was a few weeks ago (I bought the car on Memorial Day). I removed the plastic trim on the trunk sill to be able to access and re-install the little flap and found that it was just clipped in. It's a poor (cheap) design and should really have a more secure hinge point. This time I just completely removed the little flap.

My only other problem so far has been an ESC light accompanied by a locked shifter right after I start the car. I've had 3 occurances in 6 weeks. It clears by restarting the car. My OBDII code reader shows a U0101pd code (Lost comm w/TCM).

12 months of ownership with zero problems - other than the one that I caused. Needed an alignment after catching a curb in a parking ramp pretty good (still pissed that it also marked up my rim).

I've owned my Genesis for two weeks and have had some weird electrical problems. If I use the ignition without using the brakes, and then I start the car, the AFLS light will blink. Restarting the car fixes the problem. Also, a couple of times my seat didn't go back to the correct position after I started the car. I have the easy access setting to move the seat back when I shut the car off.

My issue hasn't been corrected yet. Took it in to the dealer on July 3rd for a seat belt warning light/chime that stays on. They said they fixed it, picked up the vehicle and 1 mile down the road it came on again. Took it back 1 week later, they said it was the seat belt latching unit ( the part that you snap the buckle into) and they would need to order it, maybe 2-3 days.

It's now July 16th, they called and said that it might not be here until Monday, July 20th. Asked the service writer why they don't carry parts at the dealership he says the model is to new to carry any. he also tells me that all the parts come from Korea and not from any US Hyundai parts distribution center.

I also have the audio system lock up that cannot be investigated until it actually happens again and then I have to drive it over straight to the dealership so they can try to see what's going on.

I'm disappointed reading all the problems we are having with this car, I'm disappointed in my local dealership, and to be honest, have yet to enjoy this vehicle because as I drive it, I'm anticipating what's going to malfunction next. Hopefully when this item gets repaired and permanently fixed that I will start to feel better. But as of now, not really impressed/satisfied with my purchase and dealings with Hyundai.

Update, the seat belt assembly unit finally arrived, have appt. on Monday, hopefully they'll get it installed correctly without screwing something else up.I was told that they have to remove the drivers seat to put this part on. They'll need to check that the entire function of the seat is working.

Today, 700 miles, the car would not start. Waited 10 minutes and then it started. This just adds to my frustration and lack of satisfaction and confidence in this vehicle.

PLO5,

Sorry, I haven't been online to see that I was asked a question...

The head unit AND amp had to be replaced to correct the intermittent audio/nav/DIS/phone etc. problem-see the "no sound out of speakers" thread.

It was NOT fixed by any TSB software upgrade.

If anyone else has this issue-you shouldn't have to prove it to the service dept. It is intermittent and you may drive to the dealership and have everything working. It is well known by now-insist that the service manager contact Hyundai even if they don't witness the actual problem.

Ok, 2 problems. 1) the automatic tilt of the steering wheel works sometimes? Never a problem with the in/out ... it's always the up/down position!!! The control switch was replaced once, it worked for one day then quit again. Re-scheduled an appointment and during the weeks wait for service it started working again normally. Can't duplicate a interminent problem or so they said the second time in for repair. 2) "Stomping" on the gas pedal (quick acceleration?) causes the engine to momentarily stall...scarey when pulling out in traffic! The dealers solution is to turn off the ECS!!! Now that answer pisses me off! I won't go into how I feel about the suspension.:(

After I start the car I get an ESC light and cannot shift into drive(or anything else). Turn the car off, wait a few seconds, restart and everything is fine. Happens 3-4 times a month.

I might be loosing my DIS controller or the main head unit... twice this weekend the system switched modes uncommanded. The first time I was listening to AM radio (sports broadcast) and had the radio tuner dial on the LCD... after a few minutes I noticed the navigation map was displaying??? I don't remember hitting the NAV button on the DIS console...

Next drive: AM again (same game) and suddenly the audio went off. I looked at the LCD and the tuner was at some random frequency - not on the memory channel I had been listening too. I tapped the steering wheel control and re-selected the memory preset and the system worked normally.

We'll see if it degrades over the next few days/weeks. The car has only 2400 miles on it so far, I bought it at the end of May. I've been leary of electronics in cars for years now - they tend to be much less reliable than mechanical stuff - and far more expensive for parts, especially once the car is a few years old... so I originally did not want the Tech package. The upgraded headlights though changed my mind. We'll see if this recent audio system hiccup turns into a real problem.

Update: Yesterday, the seat belt assembly unit was installed. The warning light/chime has not gone off yet. This also corrected my audible chimes when the car is shut off and I open the door.

The issue with the "no-start" problem: of course the dealership could not come up with a hard code. So hopefully it won't happen again.

And for the radio issue, it has not occurred again. Will demand that the amp and the head unit gets replaced if it does.

Not true at all. I've had three parts overnighted in as they have attempted to repair my DIS....they're lying to you.

I have had two problems so far. I have owned the car since the beginning or March.

1. There is a very annoying rattle coming from the front seat passenger side of the car. It seems to be the leather piece on the dash that goes all the way across, or something directly behind it. The rattle goes away when I press on this piece of trim. So far, the dealer has not been able to fix the problem.

2. There have been a couple issues with the cruise control. Multiple times now I have been on the highway and turned the cruise control on. When I try to set it, the set light will light up for a split second and then go off. It continues to do this until I turn the cruise off and then back on. It works fine after that.

The more annoying cruise control problem has only happened once a few days ago. I was on the highway again and turned the cruise control on. This time when I pressed the set button nothing happened at all. I turned the cruise control on and off probably a dozen times and it still would not work. I eventually had to pull over and turn the car completely off and then back on. It worked fine after that. The dealer has not found a fix for this either.

Have a problem with a park assist sensor.

The display shows that the front left sensor is going off when the car is in slow motion < 5 mph. I'm going to take it to the dealer on Friday.
