  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Have you seen any/many Genesis on the streets?

I finally saw another Genesis here in Charlotte, a rebadged black beauty. ( I don't think the re-badge adds a thing.)
In the 19,000 miles I have driven mine, ranging from here to Florida, Arizona, Ohio and points in between, I have seen fewer than a dozen.
FYI: In an effort to improve the very firm ride, I recently lowered the tire pressures from 33 to 30 psi and learned that it did not help very much AND that the pressure in each tire is monitored separately. A cute little warning icon was displayed with each tire that had lower-than-allowed pressure flashing, flashing, flashing until it annoyed me enough to raise the pressures back to the "official" 33 psi. You can't fool Genny!

The firmer ride is what I really like about my 4.6 Genesis, as my first Genesis (2009 3.8) seemed to ride a bit too soft and sometimes had seemingly nervious road manners but this latest iteration (2010 with tech) sems to have corrected that problem, only difference is I always, and this applies to the 3.8 as well) keep my tires inflated to 35psi which doesn't seem to bother the ride at all, but improves tire wear and fuel consumption. You just may want to try it.

On average the computer tells me I am averaging 30-31 mpg on interstate trips!

This certainly does not apply in city driving.

I actually saw 2 this Saturday on the way to Portland. A black one parked on 23rd Street and a white cruising past on Glison.

30 to 31 MPG-that is great-I also have a 2010 4.6 with Tech and 4000 miles on the car. Went to a wedding in Phila. this past week and averaged 27 and thought that this was great. I also can see a difference in 2-3 MPG with 93 octane.

I have in Wilmington, NC in a planned community and we already have three Genesis including mine.

I often travel my commute route in the morning with 3 other Genesis sedans. I work on Fort Bragg - with about 50,000 co-workers. it's by far the largest single employer in this part of the state, so it's no suprise that I'd see the same cars several times a month.

I get asked the "what kind of car is that" question far more often than i see another Genesis on the road. Even among the professional car identifiers, Valets, I often enough get asked the question, followed by one or the other of them saying "see - I told you it ain't a Bentley".

Lately, I have been seeing several a week and sometimes two or three on the same day commuting to work and back.

Ball Ground, GA

I assume you commute south in the ATL metro-region. Would suppose you're the only Gensis owner in Ball Ground.

Man... I've never averaged 18mpg with my '02 Passat GLX 4Motion - and it's a V6. I need to get my Genny now!

Gotta go practice my Jedi mind trick - it's not working on the wife yet.

there are TONS down here around palm beach county, FL. swarming fulls. yet i am still the one out of 2 teenagers who drives a gen (my friend has the coupe).

I live in a community of 1000 which swells to 10, 000 during the tourist season [Mem. Day to Labor Day]. The tourists are gone so we are back to rural and quiet and not that many cars on the road.

Be that as it may, I was in Southport NC last night and came out of a rehearsal to find a shiny new Sterling Blue Metallic 3.8 with Gen trunk badge parked right next to me. No idea whose it is. Then this morning while tooling down the 9 mi long main road of the island here came a White Satin Pearl 3.8 with flying H on the trunk. They're more of them out there!

Ron:cool:

I saw a black Genesis yesterday at my driving range. It was black and had a mesh chrome grill mounted over the standard grill. It also had a rear rebadge and different wheels with rebadge.

Ron, I'm heading down to Southport on Oct 16th for wedding with reception on Oak Island so you will see a rebadged Sterling Blue one on the Island.

Really?! I must be doing something terribly wrong to my V6 then. I get like 22-25 city and like 28ish highway. I hold a constant 75-80mph. Otherwise, here in NJ, you would get runover on the highway.

Is something wrong with my car?

I doubt anything is wrong with your car. I'm sure it is the difference in power/gearing between the v6 and the v8. City is not so good and its really really hard for me to keep from doing burnouts!!

here in southern ca when the fwy is open you'd better be prepared to do 90mph. hey ive got a good friend in little egg where are you from?

I live in the Cincinnati area, where I have seen only three others in 20K miles.

I have seen two in central Connecticut
sense I learned of them about 6 weeks ago.

I'm in Southern Connecticut.......rarely see another Genesis which for me is great as I love the "exclusivity".

My son, on the other hand, lives in Southern Florida and tells me he's amazed at how many he sees down there

I drove up on one on an over pass on Staten Island, NY. Lokked just like my V8 Black 2009, she just had the wings which I have chosen not to have. She loves it and so do I!

Cool... I'll be watching the roads.... 133, 211, etc.

Happy travels,

Ron

Was driving behind one yesterday. Funny thing, when I pointed it out my wife didn't recognize it. The lack of trunk wing logo, "disguised" it.
