  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm not sure if it's just me or not, but the HID headlights on my 2015 3.8 AWD Ultimate do not project nearly as much light as the 2012 model I had with HID headlights.......anyone else?

I heard someone else mention this also but I find mine shine more than my Gen 1 but that could be because I always run with the fogs which are amazing. I also ran the fogs on the Gen 1.

In a previous thread, someone mentioned that the factory alignment of the headlights was low. I have also noticed this too.

It was suggested to raise the aiming point a bit.

I was going to post this also. The other day it was raining (shocking I live in Seattle) and I could barely see the road. It does seem the output of these lights are less or different than past MY Gens. Even with the fog lights on they seem a bit dim.

This is a little different. As the road gets wet, it reflects blue/white light better than yellow. That is why in bad weather, fog lights come in handy (actual fog lights...yellow fog lights lol). Wet roads look terrible with HID's

Had dealer raise headlights a bit, I will let you guys know if this solves the problem. Notice: I watched them do the adjustment and they had to remove the tray above the radiator to get to the headlights, about 8 plastic clips had to come out, half broke coming out and I'm not sure they would have replaced them all if I had not been standing there.

Hmmm. I have the same model and raised the lamp pattern height without any other disassembly.

Chuck, I'm sure this was probably the first 2nd Gen. Genesis they have had in their shop, there was 3 tech's performing the adjustment...... gotta find a bigger dealership to have service done!

Well, it could be that I did something wrong, too, but the pattern moved to where I wanted it. Makes me wonder, though. :)

Mine seem to illuminate low.

I did notice a left/right adjustment point on both sides but, no up/down

The up/down adjustments are in the front right and left corners of the engine compartment and are white tubes with the adjustment point in the bottom reached by a long phillips screwdriver.

Don't know about the Gen2, but with the 2012 model, all it takes is a long phillips screwdriver and opening the hood. I hope these guys knew what they were doing........

Same on 2g.

This morning I took the car to my friends garage who does MA inspections. The low beams were set at 26" from the factory. 2" too low. He adjusted them to 28" and what a difference.

^ How did he determine where they should be? Just curious because I would like to raise mine on my Gen 1 as well :)

He texted me a response to your question:

"From the headlight beam to the center of the front emblem is width. Height is floor to center of the headlight beam. Should be 28" height and 27" wide from center."

Interesting, thank you. So how does one know that 28" is the proper height and not too high to blind other drivers? Just curiosity haha

How is the width controlled?
