  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I used to change my oil (3.8 - 2010) every 4 months or 4000 km. I switched to synthetic oil at 20000km. How often should I change the oil now if I stick with synthetic. Right now we're on a 10000km+ trip and I changed the oil just before we left.
thanks

Canadians posting on the site should provide convertions to miles for us Americans. Haven't you heard that we are not good at math? :-D

I would say that you will be fine on your trip and recommend that you change upon your return. I would assume that many of your km's are on freeways. You will still be within the manufacturers recommended interval

Cheers

I completely agree (both on the oil change advice and on the pre-conversion advice for us dull-witted Yanks). With freeway miles you're low revving and have comparatively few gear changes - both of which lower the stress on the engine. I think that easily falls within the 7,500 mile maximum between intervals Hyundai recommends down here. That and you're on synthetic - you're fine.

1 year or 12,000 km (7500 miles). Which ever comes first. I would try and run a 0W-20 synthetic in Canada.

You will be fine to change upon your return. 10,000-12,000 Km highway driving is easy on the engine.
I usually use Mobil 1 in all my cars and change every 6 months or 10,000Km.
(That's about 6200 miles for you down south lol).
