  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How long do the batteries last?

The battery for my Elantra is still going after almost 11 years. (but it only locks doors)

Too bad you didn't read this thread first. You could have done it yourself and had money left over for Starbucks.

One of my fobs, 2014 Genesis with 6300 miles died a few weeks ago.
Went to the Dealer yesterday, $6.38 to replace the battery.

How did you get a dealer to do anything for six bucks and change?

True enough but I would rather pay the little bit and not scrape, break or mess it up at this point.
Still got a Starbuck, tall, black, regular. No fancy froths for me.

Using a screwdriver to pry it open can deform the plastic seams a little bit, but a little sandpaper makes it like new again.

Re: Changing the key fob battery

Pull the key out halfway & rotate to open fob shell - no fuss - no muss

See the video in the first post

Video worked great, glad I found it here. Thanks for taking the time to post! Regards, Inis

The trick is to remove the key first.

DO NOT use this video to change battery. You will break off a tab. Instead, get a small straight blade screwdriver about as wide as the slot near the key hole. Place screwdriver in the slot and twist. Much easier and without risk of breaking the plastic.

The above video is for the Genesis Key Fob and works perfectly.

I had this pop up on the screen the other day. Awesome feature. Because we were down at Key West I didn't bother changing it until we got back home today. The warning came on every time I shut the car off.

Yep the correct way to open the fob case leastwise on my 2016 Ultimate is to use the narrow blade screwdriver method, piece a cake!
