Several years ago I came up with (invented) a means of washing vehicles - with no visible water. No hoses – no pails – no sponges and best of all – no long struggling time invested to wash our vehicle. Worked so well – we opened a car cleaning business. The only problem was – our method totally ate the entire car’s outer paint and metal surface off - right down to the bare frame within a month. This is to say – we completely totaled over 492 vehicles – which had their owners – pretty upset. . Thank God our Genesis was fast - so we were able to get out of town before the law suits began. The law is still looking for us - for that one.

Now that I have your complete attention – all of the above is a crock. All – that is – except the fact I did invent a way of waterlessly washing vehicles and in mere minutes. Now - as most of you know – there’s many things in life that require a first application of whatever – that is typically stronger or more stringent than there after. Such is the case with my method of vehicle washing.

With that understood – step one is to wash your Genesis with soap and water really well one time. There! It is now clean. Step two involves going to – well – we purchased them at Costco’s - but they’re all over the world in many kind of stores including most automotive stores. I’m not into “names” that much - like most – so I don’t know the name of them - but they’re this really soft – very fine – tight knit cloth – yellow in color – that leaves no water spots – even on black when wiping.

The method exposed: Where you’ve already gotten the major dirt off your vehicle – if your Genesis is the silver – blue – white or yellow or red – or even the green one – you need two - slightly damp rags. What you do is – you have a rag in each hand (to share if the 4 minute process) and you simple caress your cars entire surface with the damp rags – except windows.

What this does is – a) it instantly – lacking any mess or water or hoses – gets 100% of all dust and slight dirt off your car – placing it on the damp rags. It couldn’t work more flawless - and rebuttals will not be accepted - as I’ve been doing it for over 4 years. How often? That’s where you may have a frivolous - yet “thought-to-be” valid argument. If you want to keep your car looking like you just washed it 24-7 – I do this everyday.

But you scream – “Hey doooooddd? Who has the time for that?” Not a difficult question at all. Genesis owners with CLASS! Genesis owners who appreciate their Coupe. Genesis owners who want to stand tall – above all of the G37’s and others in its class. Fact is – I can do my Coupe - in four minutes - not missing an inch. And day after day the rags are black with near unseen soot and road dust.

So what am I suggesting? Don’t find the time – MAKE the time to do this to your car – if not every day - at least – every other day. Hey? Please! It takes 3 to 4 minutes - if you get the lead out and kick butt. It becomes fun too – knowing the end result - is a car that super shines. There isn’t a person alive - who can’t MAKE 3 to 4 minutes to clean up one of their most treasured possessions in their life - and if there is – they’re rich – spoiled and have everything served to them on a silver platter. MAKE THE TIME. Your car will love it - and the compliments and “turned-heads” won’t stop. It is soooo easy to keep your car clean like this – it isn’t even funny.

Then there’s the black Genesis. That too is easy – only with one difference. You’ll have one damp and one dry rag. The dry rag chases behind the damp. How close of a chase? Within 15 seconds – the sooner the better. Black shows water spots very easily – but if you chase the EXACT area you ran the damp rag over – (in no more than 15 seconds) – they’ll be no water spots at all. We had a Honda Ridgeline black in color and I washed it hundreds of times this way – IN THE SHADE – with no spots. As far as washing the other colors in the sun light – you can. You will learn in time how damp your rags have to be - to do a good job yet leave no spots. It’d be difficult for me to explain how damp that actually has to be - but I soak them – then wring them out good - before using. If the car is overly dusty – I’ll use 4 rags opposed to two.

ICING ON THIS CAKE

It’s unfortunate this – what I’m about to say – will be filed in the “preference” category because I assure you – it has nothing to do with preference. It has everything to do with laziness and wanting the shiniest car around. I’m talking of a once a week application of – not a wax – but a super high shine product Turtle Wax makes called “ICE”. OMMGG is this stuff ever a legend in its own time. Again using the prior mentioned yellow rages – you spray a healthy coat of ICE on a smallish area of the car – not the rag (or - if in total shade – half the car) then you speedily go around wiping it off in circular motions. I can literally do my whole car in five to six minutes. I do prefer to go over it again (directly after wiping the ice on and off) to catch any left over Ice - and to bring out the super shine. But believe me – if you want to blind people with a shinny car – this is the stuff to use.

I recommend doing this at least once a week (I like doing it twice) and it speeds up the prior mentioned washing process by preventing water spots and making it all so much faster. Between the washing and Ice – you will now have a Coupe - that is a fine representative of YOU!

And speaking of ICE – the icing on this cake is then the windows. I made this discovery about 18 months ago. I tried using the store bought – cheap – rubbing alcohol on the windows and again discovered a GREAT window cleaner that is about as streak less and hazeless - as anything could be. However – the yellow rags can NOT be used for this - but rather terrycloth - and EXTREMELY clean. Any kind of oil – smudges – finger grease etc., on the rag - and it will put it all over the window.

You now have the recipe for the cleanest car you have ever had. There’s only one more thing you need. No…..three. The desire to have a clean car; the ambition to work on it very few minutes a day - or every two days - mixed tenderly with class.

Excellent advice Style...started following your program about a week ago and my cars looks "car wash" clean everyday! Thanks. Ok so what exactly is your point about window cleaning solution? You use rubbing alcohol to clean your windows or do you mean alcohol based window cleaner? Are you talking about the Turtle wax Ice "detailer" or the wax. I use a detailer I buy by the gallon from a local pro detail shop and it works fine.

I've always been under the impression that the reason for hosing down a car before further cleaning was to remove the larger particulate dirt that would cause swirl marks when wiped off with a rag. I probably would go through the cleaning routine every day or two if I didn't have to get the hose out.

I've used the system detailed by stylus-r-us and it works exccedingly well! I sent a private message to the OP to ask about the ICE treatment (wether he was using the detailer or the polish) and he never answered. I began to use the ICE polish and I love it. This is a great way to keep your car very clean and its clean, hell waaay shiny, every day. I've almost become obsessed with the method and now both of my vehicles are gleaming and with minimal effort.

I'll definitely give the ICE polish a try. What did you end up using for the windows?

For the windows I use plan old rubbing alcohol (picked up cheaply and in quantity from one the warehouse stores) but more than the alcohol I think using clean, terry cloth towels is most effective in keeping the windows clean. Actually I'll probably go back to a foam window cleaner but continue with the terry cloth towels. I get tired and annoyed of the smell when using the alcohol. The best thing about keeping your car clean this way is the constantly clean car with a minimal, albeit daily, output of time/energy.

Has anyone tried Griots spray on car wash? I have seen it advertised but don't know anyone that is using it.

There are many posts about this stuff on car forums - there are people who claim that it's great, and others who say that you can't avoid scratching the paint with it. This video by Richard Griot shows that you do have to be careful using this product.

Thanks for the response......do you happen to know the brand or type of yellow rags the first poster is referring to? I assume microfiber. I live in NY and have a black car so looking for ways to keep it clean during the winter months without too much trouble. Sounds like he has an interesting way of doing just that.

I don't know the specific rags he was referring to, either. I understand the challenge in keeping a black car clean where you live. My wife and I had black cars in upstate NY. I found that it didn't take long to accumulate enough road grime and salt to the point where only a real wash would get rid of it.

Easy on the Ice! I noticed a lot of garbage in the paint after several uses of Turtlewax Ice (when I ran my hand over the hood surface I felt a ton of rough spots). I had to clay bar the surface to clean it up. It may just be that I used too much or that the microfiber cloths I used to apply it deposited the gunk. Have any of you used this material? Has anyone had a similar result? I like the idea of the ice treatment and maybe it's just my application that caused the issue.

I questioned the Ice treatment too quicky. After noticing specs of material over all of the windows I had to think about what could be the cause. I couldn't blame Ice for garbage on the windows. It occured to me that while at work my car is parked very close to two very large ash trees...and I think they may be the culprit! I've cleaned both the surface of the car (claybar) and the windows (razor edge) and I'll choose another parking spot while at work.

First I want to say I'm sorry for not answering whoever asked any questions. I'm so busy with my Stylus-R-Us - iPad - iPhone - iTouch Stylus Business - I haven't had time to return here. Okay so listen to this because this really is BREAKING NEWS. Before I was all orgasmic on Rubbing alcohol being a great window cleaner. As with most everything in life - we stumble into new things from time to time - and boy oh boy did I ever stumble into this one.

Where we live in South Florida - and where we trip over bikinis every other day (oh darn) the salt air causes total chaos on the cars glass. It's exactly like someone sprayed a light coat of WD-40 on the windows and then let it bake in the sun - and getting it off - was nothing nice.

Then one day I accidentally over sprayed my much bragged about Turtle ICE on my windshield (see in other post on this page) so I had to wipe it off. That's when I saw it. Ommmgggggg look at that glass. Factory glass isn't as clear as this is.

Grabbing the bottle of ICE - I sprayed the entire windshield (wipers lifted up) and quickly wiped in circular motion to get 98% of the ICE rubbed over and off. I then came back with a CLEAN super soft rag and wiped away any leftover residue and or shadows - and guys? Hey? If you want to see a miracle - believe me - WINDEX never had a chance against Ice. This stuff isn't only incredible on the cars surface - it is unreal on glass. You will never - ever - as long as you live - and until you're pushing up weeds - use anything else but ICE on cars or glass. I even use it on various parts inside coupe.

BTW: You guys may enjoy this one. Don't for a minute think I don't love my Coupe. This is the MOST fun car I have ever owned - and I've had many. But the new Camaro - omggggg that thing is driving me crazy. I watch Hawaii 5-0 over and over just to see theirs (even though it's a 6). I mean - it has nothing to do with being a Camaro - because I could care less about them or their past. They could call the car Rat-Flavored-Meat-Bait and I'd still love it. It is just too too beautiful.

So I want one. Having talked my way into a 4 hour test drive from a car dealer of the V-8 2011 SS Auto Camaro (alone) and being an expert driver - I tore countless streets around here - totally up. Now understand this. I own the Genesis Couple and have 12 thousand miles on it - most of which is at high speeds - even around corners. I KNOW THE CAR! I KNOW THE CORNERING. So when I tell you - that the 2011 Camaro cornering is as good - NO MATTER what Road & Track says - you can believe it or not. And the reason it's as good is - it has a WIDER set of rear tires and wheel base and pushing all the facts and figures and future rebuttals aside - let me tell you - that Camaro is unreal on corners. I would rate it even or slightly better than the Coupe. I know...I know. That will cause havoc but what? I'm making this up??? I went around corners at 80 and 90 in the Camaro and it not only took them excellent - but you feel 10 times safer - going around them in that car - than the Coupe - as hard as that is to accept.

BUT...but...here's the big story. You know when we take over the shifting in the coupe (paddle shifting -which I use 98% of the time) and you know how the red line is what? 6500. If we fail to shift - it shifts for us: a GREAT feature by Hyundai. GREAT feature. I love that feature. So we can shift - or not shift but WE have that choice!

So - in thinking the Camaro would do the same - I was on this side street - driving in the S mode of the Camaro and put it to the floor - (it's has a 6400 red line). Impressed by its take off - at 5000 all of a sudden the power totally ceased - just about throwing me through the windshield and would have - had I not had my seat belt on. It sounded like I had blown the engine. 1500 RPM below the red line and the SOB cut all power - throwing me about out the window. I'm like - WTHHHH??? I had planned on shifting at 6500 but I never had the chance.

In thinking this was a fluke - I stopped and did the same thing - only this time - prepared to go forwards at a very fast rate of speed - which I did. Again - I'm totally blown away. Here I am - in what is the RAVE of the 2011 muscles cars - and they've PROGRAMED THE CAR/ENGINE/TRANY - to cut out at 5000 RMP to protect - who knows what and why. Hey GENERAL MOTORS? You need to sleep with Hyundai and get the know-how on how to set a car up for prime time shifting/fun/speed/ etc because let me tell you - that Camaro is a COMPLETE INSULT and JOKE to anyone spending near 40 grand. I am still totally in shock that they would ever do that - to a car of that class and kind. They have completely ruined that car.

Granted you can use it in S mode and D-drive mode and it will shift for you but hey? Who can handle that? And what are the paddles for - if you can't shift when you want to. The only other thing I didn't like about the Camaro was - there is no down shifting compression. Our Coupe second gear - is awesome.

I'm still strongly considering getting a Camaro anyway and taking it to a speed shop and having that trany/engine problem reprogrammed so this problem isn't there. If anyone reading this knows anyone who has the Camaro and had theirs fixed as I would like to see it fixed - please write me at stylusrusATcomcast.net. In the mean time - you with iPads and iPhones etc - need to buy THE best stylus in the world - which I invented and patented - and am selling like hot cakes all over the world. Check us out at beststylusDOTcom

Yeah Vince2...you sure did judge Ice too quickly. It is unreal for windows and car surfaces. If I was forced to say something bad about it - I would say that UNLIKE a car wax - ICE doesn't put a thick coat of protection on the car - and hot sun for several days would melt it off - only detectable by throwing a rag across your hood and seeing it no longer slides like it did after just doing the ICE on the car. But that's no biggy. I do my car 2 to 3 times a week anyway.

Stylus great to see you posting in the forum again! Love your writting style and I've got to get one of your devices...so you do mean the Ice polish and not the spray detailer? After my morning run I "cool off" by executing the 4 to 6 minute cleanup of my car. The friggin car gleams like better than show room and its that way every day! Thanks again.

Hi Vince2.

Unfortunately I don't get the chance to return here often I'm so busy with my STYLUS-R-US (www.beststylus.com) company. But it's interesting you've told me on Ice Polish as I meant the detailer. I haven't tried the Polish yet but will be buying some today. The detailer is the one that is the easy way out. It's very fast - no residue - and shines like glass. I do think though that because it is such a thin layer of shine - it melts off in the sun after about a week -whereas - a WAX - last longer. That for me though - is no problem as I use the detailer at least two times a week and as often as four for that incredible shine. It is so easy to do and then you use my washing technique I explained and keeping my blue Coupe showroom clean is an everyday think. It takes four to five minutes to go over it with a damp yellow rag in each hand - so it really looks great at all times. I go no where without damp ragging it first. And the detailer on the windshield?? Ommmggg this stuff is literally unreal. I can't believe it. :)

I tried the Ice detailer on the windows...best looking glass ever! I've tried the polish on my platinum Genesis and it does a very good job but it does require more work than the detailer. I'll just use the polish on occasion and the detailer regularly.

Doesn't physically wiping particles away actually scratch the clear coat? Not a problem for those who don't mind waxing their car everytime but I'm very picky about how I wash my baby.
