It got cold where i live so my tire pressures went down, i filled them up to recommended pressures, but my car still beeps at me everytime i drive. How do i turn off the indicator.

the indicator is automatic, it will light if the tires are a given percentage below the recommended pressure or if one tire is more than 25% below the others. If all the pressures are equal and at or above recommended pressure it will reset automatically.

are all the tires at or above the recommended pressure? are they all equal?

if yes to both drive the car about 2 miles and the system should reset. If not then you might have a bad sensor in one of the tires and it will require a dealer visit

Are they hot or cold when you bring them to recommended pressure? What readings do you get when it signals? One tire or all tires?

You cannot turn it off except to bring it up to proper pressure. Could be a bad sensor but unless you know the numbers can't say.

When everything is good again you'll need to drive it for a few miles for the TPS System to reset.

How do I know you ask? Got in my car Saturday morning at 6AM and had a low pressure alarm for the left rear, it was flat. Later that day I took the tire to the Dealer and they replaced the tire (said they were Run Flats, didn't know that). When I put it back on still had a low pressure alarm and the TPS light was now on. Also not showing a pressure for the Left Rear. Took a ride and after a couple of miles the pressure for that tire showed up but the
TPS light was still on. A little farther down the road the TPS light went and everything is fine now.

I had the same issue about a month ago with some 30 below weather. Both of our vehicles ended up with low tire pressure. Fill them up and drive a bit and the sensor should reset and all will be good. Depending on the temp swing though, watch you aren't overinflated when it warms back up. I had to let some air out of our Jeep because it swung too far the other way.

Minus 30? That temp is hard on vehicles! I have winter fronts that covers the radiator, really helps. My Genny sits in the winter, I was going to use it over the weekend. I was afraid for the pano roof, going from 60degree shop to 2 degrees. Would it be ok? Maybe but did not chance it.

I think our worst was about -38 (celcius). It was that morning that I left the garage with tire pressure perfectly fine, and 5 hours later, down ~4lbs per tire.

Yeah, that's pretty freaking cold. Do you have any type of engine heater? Block heater oil heater?

I don't any I haven't had an block heater in about 15 years. I have a heated garage for the really cold nights and sitting outside for 9-10 hours during work isn't enough to hurt imo. Especially with synthetic oil. Plus I will typically start the car once or twice during the day.

And those temps really don't happen that often. Usually -20 is about the as low as we get.

Yeah good deal! I have them on my vehicles in the non heated garage. My Genny gets the 60degree garage👍 . It is going to minus 15 tomorrow night. Where I live. That's freaking cold. Good idea starting it up during the work day.

I wonder how many of the people who make fuel or break-in recommendations have ever had a motor apart? or attempted to properly reassemble one? After reading the above I would guess none. Read the owners manual, do to the best of your ability the best you can to abide by what it says and use the best fuel you can find. Motors are direct injected, all direct injection motors have trouble with intake valves due to fuel being introduced into the cylinder below the valve versus washing the valve from above with a throttle body or carburetor. So pass on everyone else's advice regarding break-in and do it as the manual says because as we all know big-brother is watching. AND read the manual before you drive it anywhere but home from the dealer.

I posted about this a bit too. My car wouldn't start (in Edmonton too btw). Block heater - for sure. Yes, you can start it, but I go out of of town quite a bit and overnight in a hotel I want it plugged in IF it's cold.

Why didn't it start? I still don't know. I did start it with the app after it was sitting outside for about 7 hours. Started fine. But after it's 7 minute run (took me 10 minutes to get out there) when I went to start it, no gas. Turned over great, but the engine wouldn't start up. Sat there for 15 minutes, tried many times. Tried the app again. Locked / unlocked doors. Called the hot line, they hung up on me. Left car, locked it. Opened it, tried again, engine cranking, but not starting. Waited a minute, tried again and vrooom started up no problem.

Don't believe it was weather related, car wasn't that cold so I know the app had started it.

Kraig - way of life up here.

Edmguy - hope you don't have to park outside overnight anywhere in this weather (getting cold again tonight but not -30 cold). Very hard on engine, even with synthetic oil, to start when it's that cold out there.

For those that park these things in the winter, well if you have the all wheel drive one - they run great. My G70 is actually more stable in these wintery conditions than my Outback. I was surprised at that. They really are tanks in the snow.

Oh, and though I have the block heater, I only plugged in once. I'm in a non-heated garage I just wanted to make sure it was functioning. Don't want to find out when I'm out of town and parked for 12+hours overnight in -35 weather and then it doesn't start. :)

I'm in Winnipeg (Winterpeg) without a block heater parking outside, and haven't had any issues yet all winter other than one weird time which sounds just like your scenario. I had started my car using the app, which was successful, and it ran for 6 minutes then timed out and shut off as I was walking up to it. So I unlock it, hop in, try to start it normally and yeah it wouldn't fire but would turn over no problem. So it didn't seem like a power issue, and I knew it had just been running, so it seemed very odd. Then after 3-4 tries, it fired up no problem.

Shotty fuel pumps in low temps?

Hmmm interesting. Maybe - it is very strange. It only happened that one time to me. A couple of other times though the car would not unlock. Though that was a quick fix, I walked away then walked up to it again, then it worked. Only problem with all these new features is it's must more things to go wrong. All cars are getting them now though so it's no exclusive to Genesis.

I'm up in Yellowknife. -20C this morning started with the app no problem, vehicle was plugged in. After the 10 min run time it shut off like normal. I get in the car with the key fob no start.......cranks and cranks and cranks. It has done this to me 3 times now, and it's always after using the app. Go back an hour later it starts with the app and with the key.

I'm not driving it all the way to Edmonton to get looked at. Did you ever take yours in to see what was up with it?

I drove around several weeks with the light on after a super cold snap. My winter tires only recommend 34 PSI, but the tire pressure sensors required 37/38 PSI before the warning light would go out. I wonder if there is a way to change around the pressure calibration depending on what the tires that are installed actually require?

Nope - I did bring it in for a tire issue, mentioned it to them. They said try the other key fob but like I told the service manager the app wouldn't start it either. Interesting. I did use the app yesterday to start it (was -16 here yesterday) and it did shut off. I used the app again to start, and it started fine again. I got in. depressed the brake pedal and no issues, put in gear and drove away. But I think there is something to this if you had/have the same issue. Thanks for posting this - when I take it I'll mention it to them again. I'll tell them to put it on the file/report it in, or whatever they do. Just want it on record in case they discover the issue after car is out of warranty.

Remember the spare has a sensor so if you fill to the proper p.s.i. and driven the car and the light stays on it could very well be the spare
