  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Equus Roll Call!

Took delivery of my 2011 Signature yesterday. Granite with black interior. Loving it so far.

My other rides have all been trucks and SUVs so this is technically my first "car."

I finally received my 2012 Equus Signature today, and I drove about 40 miles just enjoying it and checking things out! I purchased the car from a dealer in Illinois and had to have it transported from there to my home in NC. I was so nervous watching the guy get the car off the top rack of his truck, but he knew what he was doing and caused no problems at all.

Mine is Granite Gray with black interior. Very comfortable and accommodating. My youngest daughter turned 13 today, so she and two of her friends rode in the back to and from the pizza place we went to for birthday dinner before we go to the midnight show of "The Hunger Games." Hard to tell if they were more excited by the car or the movie, but I can say for sure that it's the car I was excited by!

It was a surprise to see it in the nighttime. I had only test-driven in the day, so I wasn't aware how much stuff lit up inside. Very cool, and yet not over the top. Hyundai did a great job!

Nice to "meet" you all. I'll look forward to being part of the growing Equus community.

Cheers,
Rick Ross

On March 2nd I traded in my 2009 black Genesis/saddle interior 4.6 45K miles for $23700 and purchased 2011 gray/saddle leather interior with 13,600 mile for $47,700. Financed the difference at 2.4% and purchased an extended warranty til 100,000 miles for $2500. Those are the details. Only 2 differences I have noticed the past 3 weeks is quieter and softer ride. Oh also about 18 mpg locally.

2011 Hyundai Equus Ultimate. Had the car for a little while and absolutely love it. Though as I feel this is an upgrade from the 2011 Genesis that I owned, there are a few items that could have been better designed.

Hey just picked up my new 2011 equus ultimate. Got it for 50,000. Couldn't pass up the deal.

Just purchased a 2012 Equus Signature. Traded my 2009 Genesis 4.6 and had a very nice ride home tonight...:)

Took delivery of my 2012 Ultimate the week of April 16, 2012. So far, so good.

Drives just like my Lexus LS 430. About 400 miles on the clock, so far. Flawless performance. I especially like the cruise control (could save my bacon one day).

I could have purchased a 2011 for less. Was offered mid $50,000s for the older model, but declined. Price paid for the 2012 was under invoice, including the $1,500 competitive rebate. No trade in. Worked with dealers in the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast region. Some wouldn't budge, some would deal. Some dangled a lower price than I eventually paid, but they didn't have the car I wanted. The ones with 1 or 2 in stock were tight. My selling dealer had 9. The 200 mile trip was worth it. The only "extras" were the normal dealer processing fee and sales tax. The days of selling $5,000 above invoice are apparently gone. I found a remarkably wide range in pricing. The law of supply and demand was at work.

In the past, I have paid cash for a car, but not this time. The 36-month 0.9% financing is pure financial leverage. I can put money in Verizon and AT&T stock and get a 5.5% dividend. I bought the car and walked out the door without writing a check. 100% financing. Yes, I realize there is such a thing as depreciation. But it is simple interest, and I can prepay at any time without penalty.

I think some of the "criticism" of the Equus being more of Acura quality than Lexus quality is probably justified - somewhat. Nevertheless, the quality is perfectly acceptable for a luxury marque, and the $20,000+ difference in price, and the bumper to bumper warranty, more than makes up for any cut corners. Actually, I had an Acura RL before the Lexus LS 430. I would place the Equus between the two - definitely better than Acura, but just a touch below Lexus. I cannot comment fairly on European cars by comparison (never had one). Of course, your mileage may vary.

Went to pick my Equus up at dealer after 7500 mile service and found no separate lounge area but was expected to mix with Genesis owners, one of whom actually tried to talk to me. Of course, service rep put a stop to that an apologized profusely. If Hyundai expects to be taken seriously in luxury segment, they have work to do

"Lowly" Genesis owners. Fixed.

Ok, well here we go! Hope this ain't the beginning of problems. Car pulling to the right, and have to compensate by holding steering wheel to the left. After raising the vehicle hight, now have to hold the steering wheel about an inch or more to the left just to keep the vehicle straight! Also noticed that my forward and backup cameras are showing everything on screen that is supposed to be green, such as grass, is a shade of brown or tan. Hmmm can't figure that one out. Well off to the dealer I go.:mad:

Went to Evansville Hyundai today(Sunday) and to my shock they have four Equus on the lot. Three were Signature and one Ultimate. White, black and silver.
Really nice but I can't see spending that much rather than a top of the line Genesis. Too many of the bells and whistles are in the back seat.
My wife commented that the black Equus looked quite a bit like my Genesis. I could but I couldn't disagree with her ...for sure on Mothers Day.

Just picked mine up today 2012 Pearl white signature...will post pics soon. I traded in my audi 2008 a8l.
