If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Genesis Steering Wheel Emblem

If you are so embarased and dont want anyone to know the car is Hyundai, why the hell would you buy it? If your so concerned about that take it back and go by yourself a Benz or a freaking, BMW so everyone will know thats what your driving!!!!

It may not be embarrassment - aesthetically, the winged Genesis logo is much more pleasing than the "flying H" Hyundai logo (which is why the Genesis is marketedly separately in Korea, as it will also be in China).

Part of the reason Hyundai didn't place a "flying H" on or near the grille is b/c they determined that the Hyundai logo took away from the luxury car look (need a much simpler logo like Lexus or Infiniti - a Toyota logo would look equally as bad).

Plus there's the fact that I find the "flying H" to be aesthetically awkward and unappealing as a design. It simply looks amateurish and outdated to me.

I have a Black Genesis and I have added the Wings to the front and back and added the chrome strip at the bottom of each door. I have ordered the Wheel emblems although they are currently back ordered. The only remaining "H" anywhere is on the steering wheel...Anyone have any idea if you can replace the "H" in the middle of the steering wheel wheel is a Genesis emblem without replacing the entire steering wheel?
I just received in the mail, a Genesis Wings emblem. I purchased it on ebay, cost $15.99 plus postage. It has 3M double sided tape and looks easy enough to apply. I saw a picture by picture installation somewhere in this site, thats what I'm looking for now.

There is a simple steering wheel cap available. I bought mine on eBay for about $20 including S&H. Its slightly cupped to cover the flying H and comes with 3M double-sided tape. Its very attractive and extremely easy to attach.

I got the emblems because the flying H is not esthetically pleasing to me and really does not fit in with my perception of the style of the car. Personally, I brag about it being a Hyundai and my co-workers and friends (mostly fellow engineers) are all anxious to see it. I think that Hyundai has done a good job of raising interest in the Genesis and people are willing to give the company a chance to prove itself and when they sit in the car they recognize the quality themselves. This is how American car companies should have addressed their image issues with quality.

I just had the Genesis airbag emblem from ebay installed by me dealer. It cost $45 for dealer to install. Pics are in my album in Hyundai Genesis Pictures.:D

Is it realistic to have a dealer today install for anything close to this price? I understand there should be some inflation for the labor today as this was posted in 2008. Otherwise it sounds like a bargain.

My dealer (Ourisman in Laurel, MD) charged me $47 to swap the wings airbag for the H. I figured that was a fair price, especially since I don't have the right tools for the job. Besides, while waiting I had a long and entertaining conversation with a fellow Genesis owner.

So we are talking approximately $300 total for the replacement cover with wings and labor, right?

I paid $295 for the airbag at KAI - I probably could have gotten it a bit cheaper but I was buying a bunch of other stuff on the same order. So parts and labor for me totalled $342

Thanks, Although it sounds like alot for an emblem, it's amazing what a difference it makes to the overall look of the interior! Does the cover itself match the rest of the steering wheel and interior? I was planning on getting the saddle interior with the white exterior.

It's an exact match - mine is black. I don't know if it comes in saddle; I remember reading that it does come in gray. I agree about the appearance - i think the stick-on emblem that covers the H looks a little cheesy (no offense to anybody who thinks otherwise). I thought pretty hard before deciding to purchase, but I thought I'd rather do it right than regret it later

I have the white exterior with saddle interior. The steeringwheel and airbag is black.
