  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Genesis - Worst Resale Value?

Might want to post that article from last fall to the G1 forums as they seem to referring to 2014 and older cars, as well as using a G1 picture.
Exactly - no surprise that thing did not hold it's value ;)

And you think G2 is going to hold it's value? it's already being heavily discounted! :D

Name some cars that are not being heavily discounted these days. The premiums are at it too - I could probably get more off a Mercedes.

Of course not - what car does? You G1 guys are too uptight - obvious baiting, anyone???

this is why its a great car to modify - its not worth anything anyway :-)

There are entire threads dedicated to purchasing or leasing new and pre-owned Genesis as cheap as possible. Your average Genesis owner is intelligent enough to surf forums just like this to be fully prepared when pulling the trigger. There is more to resale value than a well informed client, but this is an environment this group helped create.

Bought my 2009 in 2012 for 25K. it was an awesome deal!

Got my 2011 in September 2015 for 20K, for a car that originally 43K, bad for the first owner, great for me.

I will be looking at G2 in a few years.

this is a car u wait 2 or 3 years into the line up, then it's a steal. 25k would be a good entry point for a cpo.

Some folks like to drive a car they've owned from day 1versus someone else's hand me down. Personal preference...

I totally agree, and I know many people that feel that way. It doesn't bother me to find a quality low mileage used car, and use the money I saved to modify it to my tastes.

I just want people to take pride in what they have, keep it clean, do the maintenance. It kills me when I see a really nice car that people are just trashing because they have the money to buy it but don't take care of what they have.

its a car, ita sheet metal and plastic. it will eventually end up in the dumpster.

if your are concerned with handmedowns then focus on careers, family, finances, happiness..those are things u don't want as handmedowns.

I did focus on career - that's why I can afford to buy a brand new car. I have all the other bases covered. You do realize that if it weren't for people who like to own a brand new vehicle, there would be no CPO deals ... so different strokes for different folks - it's what makes it all work.

However, I'll add that the other 3 vehicles in the house (excluding my wife's company car) were all pre-owned (1 was an earlier company cars that we bought when she got a new one), so I don't always buy new!

theres no need to explain in detail or defend your beliefs on a internet forum to a complete stranger.

is it a hyundai genesis owner thing?

Well, this is a Hyundai Genesis forum - who do you expect to be participating? In any case, with respect to your comments, I CHOSE to respond to a remark just like I'm CHOOSING to respond to you.

You do realize that there is also no need to give advice to a complete stranger on an internet forum about what they should or should not respond to - yet you did it. Pot..meet kettle, lol...

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
5.0 base and Ultimate are already being traded in at around the mid to upper 30's. 3.8 signatures will fetch you around $30K. So yes they do depreciate fast.

But we've also taken in a 2015 GS350 Fsport with 5k miles for $40,500. Thats a $58k MSRP vehicle. Last week our Maserati store took in a 2014 BMW 740i M Sport with 19k miles for $41,000. It's crazy to see from this side.
