If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hyundai to replace tires on all 2015 Genesis sedans

Just call Hyundai like I did and they will confirm it. Then you can tell your smart ass dealer how come the customer knows more then they do. Then punch him in the face. :D

Oh oh, be careful now with your "aggressive bully language". You might be accused of being a red neck V8 only bigot. [emoji41]

A quirky observation. Many of you have heard about some Far East companies putting OEM tires, even the same listed model as a retail version, that carry less tread depth than the retail tire version. Done to save a few bucks. As a example many auto tires have new 10-12/32s or tread. In the case of the OEM versions, they came with 8/32nds. Well, my new 2015 5.0 Ultimate tread depth measured a hour after pulling out from the lot (forgot to measure at dealer) had 8/32nds on the Hankooks all the way around. When purchased it had 30+ miles, 48 when measured. The tires also had many of the little nubs and all dimples (the nubs were attached to) in the tread. So, these Hankooks had to be made OEM with less amounts of the expensive rubber.

Well, since mine flat spot since new anytime stopped for even a short time, wondering if we will get full "retail" tires with deeper (linger lasting) tread?

Did anyone else measure the depth of their tires at the time of purchase.? They see similar depth on the Hankooks or other tires I did?

Hmmm, interesting, did not know this. That's 20% more life which is quite a bit.

Yes, that was the rumor about the OE Toyo Proxes tires that came on my Murano ($330 a tire BTW). I believe that to be true based on the just over 20k miles on the tires before replacing.

Stinking shame on Nissan for pulling this trick. They think people are idiots and they will not be caught? And $330 to replace tires? They paying the same price as the Air Force a gallon for Algae based material used in fuel and tires? Something like $600 a gallon for Jet A.. Insanity.

So, IF my measurements were correct on my 2015 V8 Ultimate, they came with less depth. And my 2012 5.0 with Michelins, full depth. I measured them when I bought. It had 450 miles and still showed more than 10/32nds. Michelin will NOT sell tires OEM with less than full tread. Goodyear is rumored also to only sell full depth. I suspect BF Goodrich, since owned by Michelin is same way.. I have not experienced Continentals. It was told to me by fourth party they will sell OEM tires with under standard depth.

Mazda is reported to not use OEM tires with under full depth. That I confirmed on our particular Mazda 3 OEM tires.

Anyway, let's all check to make sure where the replacement tires are coming from. IF retail source, then should be full depth.

BTW some summer only, "track pack" uber gum ball tires will come with 8-9/32nds as new retail. None of those are spec for our cars.

Have check various sources including Tire Rack and can not find Continental replacements for my 5.0 with 19 inch, at least not ProContacts. Wanted to compare Ride, Noise, Wet traction and Dry traction. Don't care about M+S as have no intention of being near snow country with white stuff.

Consumer Reports website has extensive comparisons and rankings of tires. For anyone really interested in comparisons and not just reviews, the website subscription price is well worth it.

The tire which will replace the Hankooks on the V8 only, is the ProContact TX. They are actually in production right now so no you will not find them on any website yet. This information came to me directly through Hyundai by phone. Here is the tire. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ProContact+TX

^^ the TX PDF link below. Looks like in V rating has 45k mile warranty. Reviews show clearly all season all around tire. Like a Goodyear LS or LS2. Not gum ball sticky. And notice they talk in the Tire Rack link above "OEM" all the time. Like this IS OEM tire only. Which makes sense, since the tread depth is less than new retail tires. Continental does not sell this as a retail named tire for replacement. Therefore not get accused of the less tread depth scandals. They are also 1/32" less than typical retail brand tires anyway.. Not bad. TR has not listed our sizes or ratings yet. Wonder what the tread depth and speed rating they want us to get?

Can any of you verify the noise (tire??) on a 13 3.8 sedan that seems to be a hub bearing/rolling vibration? Only have 12,000 miles on car - should I go to the Pirelli cinturato all season to get a quiet ride? any other suggestions?>

I would recommend that you have the noise checked out by your dealer service department before buying tires. It may still be under warranty.

Search the forum and you will find many suggestions for smooth/quiet tires for a Genesis.

If someone has any hard reference to the 18" wheels and tire replacement, could they post it? This is all rumor as far as the US market goes.

Where did the reference to Michelins on the 18" wheels come from?

I am not losing sleep over this, since the Hankooks are fine for me on the incredibly loud new freeway surfaces in Houston. They are VERY quiet; I have a Mazda MX-5 with the quitest Michelins ever that still sets my teeth on edge with the g-d high-pitched whine from most of the new freeway surfaces. And the Hankook flat-spotting is something I have not seen, I mean felt, at all in Houston weather, so I can keep the Hankooks with no heartburn at all.

But, Michelins would be nice.

I just got my letter from Hyundai yesterday. I have the 3.8. They will replace them with Michelin Primacy MXM4. They will also reprogram the computer to limit the max speed to 130 instead of 150 because of the speed ratings on the new tires. I don't travel that fast anyway, so it makes no difference to me. I will gladly receive a new set of tires for my 10,000+ set.

I just called my dealer. He told me to wait until I had more miles on the car if I wasn't having any problems. I then called Hyundai customer care (877-378-8727). The gentleman told me there was no expiration date on the tire change.

Hyundai replaced my Hankook tires with Michelin Primacy.
My Genesis has lost it's beautiful ride and there is much more road noise.
Very disappointed!

Are you sure they aren't the Michelin MXM4?

From everything I've read on this board that was what the 3.8 Genesis was supposed to have had to replace the Hankooks.

Sorry about your bad experience.....I'm having good experience with the MXM4s....at 32-33 psi cold I can't tell the difference from the Hankooks which I also liked......The H's weren't good in the rain though.
