Hey guys
I recently traded in my Genesis because I got transferred at work to a branch that takes me at least an hour in Seattle stop-and-go traffic. I just want to say you guys are amazing and I'm very sad to leave you guys.
I got a Toyota Avalon Hybrid and after driving it for a little over 3 months, I miss my Genesis so much. I was going to get a mid-size hybrid like Prius, Sonata hybrid or Fusion hybrid but the trunk was way too small for my diving equipment. The only hybrid car big enough was the Avalon so I didn't have much choice. I did get a company discount and 0% financing and the dealership gave me $19500 trade in value for my Genesis so I took it.
I know no cars are perfect and I hear many of you complaining about the little things on this forum, but wait until you drive something else. Try to find another car (similar class) with the same features for the same amount of money you paid.
I got the top of the line Avalon. Hybrid limited with technology package. My complaints so far:
-Rattles, sqeaks, and creaks. This is driving me absolutely nuts. Already took it to the dealership twice and they can't "reproduce the noise". Go to toyotanation Avalon forum, and the longest thread there is from the owners complaining about this issue.
-Quality of leather... Nothing compared to the ones in Genesis.
-Lack of panaromic sunroof (on a $40k+ car???)
-Tiny navigation screen and the entire UI lags to a point where I have wait 2-3 seconds after pressing a button. It also doesn't let me type in the address or change settings while driving.
-Seats are extremely uncomfortable. Not enough padding. Also a huge thread on this on the Avalon forums.
-No parking sensors. (Not even rear sensors)
-No lane departure warning. (Not even available in their top of the line model while Camry has it)
-JBL sound quality is horrible. This is supposedly an upgraded sound system in the limited model and even then it sounds worse than Infiniti sound system in Kia Optima or Harman Kardon in Subaru Legacy. Unbelievable.
-No electronic parking brake.
-Interior buttons look extremely cheap.
-Keyfob looks like it was made in the 80's.
-Harsh ride. Very similar to my Genesis. Also a huge thread on this. 2013-2014 Avalons wanted to be a little "sporty".
There are more but I don't want to sound like I'm nitpicking. I am extremely happy with Avalon's fuel economy though. I was definitely getting the advertised 40/39 MPG during summer. I was very surprised. I didn't think a large car like mine would get that kind of mileage. It did drop a bit down to 36 MPG or so but that's because it's winter now and all hybrids take a hit during cold weather. There are definitely some things I love about the car but it just isn't Genesis...
I will try to take some pictures of the car (interiors and the keyfob too) so you guys can see what I'm talking about.
Again, I will miss you guys :*(
