Been here awhile...
.....and bought another. After toying with the fact for a few months, the lure of the V8 was too intoxicating. I was able to land a white pearl satin 2012 4.6, fully loaded, for just under $20k and 25,000 miles. Pictures to follow(I'm a tease), but it's in exquisite shape inside and out. The audio system is killer, but it's going to take me some time to acclimate to all the gadgetry on this thing.
Best news from my perspective was that I was able to transfer my exhaust, wheels, rigid collars, and catch can over to the 4.6 without a hitch (6 hours of work on my part). The V8's character is quite distinct from the V6 GDI. Not only is the V8 much quieter, but the mid-range pull is noticeably more violent in the V8 whereas the V6 is a sudden rush towards the top (still awesome, btw). Plus, it sounds ssssick with the Magnaflow on it.
I spent a lot of time on the V6 and loved that car, but the craving for more power and the legitimacy of a V8 for a performance sedan was too much to resist at this price point. I also know that this is the "rare" Genesis along with the '12 5.0 non-Rspec. 2012 was the only year the 4.6l V8 was sold domestically with the mid-cycle refreshed body, suspension tweaks, and 8-speed.
