In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. While shopping on eBay for Genesis sedan accessories I came across illuminated LED wing emblems for the trunk and hood. These appear similar to the winged emblems I see everyone else adding to their vehicles but I simply hadn't noticed them before.

The difference is that these DO NOT have the protruding hardware on the back side of the emblems which I assume has to be ground off before installation on the standard wing emblems I see for sale everywhere else. The entire back side of these emblems appears to be the adhesive 3M product with a single black wire coming out of it to connect to 12 volts.

It appears that it's the edges of the wings that are illuminated. The impression I get is that it illuminates white when driving or stopped with engine on but it illuminates red when you are applying the brakes.

Does anyone on here have any experience with these? It seems to place one on the hood A tiny hole would need to be drilled through the hood. Not sure about the rear trunk emblems as I don't know what's under my current non-illuminated wing emblem which was on the car when I bought it used with 500 miles in early october.

Any experience or comments on this upgrade would be very helpful even if someone simply steers or redirects me to a different location in this site. If you want to look it up on eBay do a search for Genesis sedan light emblem or look at the ebay auction #251472129139 which shows both of them (front and back)

Rear has 2 holes already there for the factory badge.

The rear wings use these as mounting holes.

To do the front, usually ground the posts off with a deemel

For illumination....would need a hole in hood.

Not sure I would want the illuminated up front....rear might be cool.

It is not a job for the faint of heart. you have to drill a couple holes into your genesis. The back wing with the led wiring needs a bigger hole then the two holes already on the rear. Pretty simple. However installing the wing on the front is a bugga. It took me and my buddy around five hours to install that one. Trying to get the wiring to be out of site is the hardest problem. Also Hyundai changes the wiring colors as you get to the headlight. Also you have to take out a few pieces of the engine cover out. The final result is great, the wing illuminates the same color as the front headlight eyebrow. It is certainly a head turner. I have people every evening passing me and slowing down to see how it looks. But the best part, is when I see another genesis owner recognize it. I speed away, and they try to catch up. Fun game. Hope this helps. maximo

Anyone have experience doing the lighted wing on the trunk lid.
Can you cut a narrow channel out of the adhesive tape to sneak the wires through an existing hole in the lid?

TIA, Rich...

Remember seeing a thread where these were installed but am unable to locate it. Will post a link if it is found.

You are so kind!
I think there are 3 wires in a black sleeve. One for License Plate illumination circuit, one for stop light circuit and one for ground. All those are in the trunk lid already.
Sometimes the adhesive tape is thick enough that you can cut a short narrow channel with an exact knife, remove that small piece of tape and lay the wires in the channel to feed through one of the existing holes in the lid. Rest should be easy.

TIA Rich...

Greetings Maximo, you seem to be the only Genesis owner who has successfully installed the LED wings and operating perfectly. I need your help please! Where can I find the wire assignments and colors (mainly the brake and tailgate lights) to install the 3 wires from the LED wing emblem? Are you able to take a pic of your wire connections to forward me? Much appreciated, SirJonBar
