  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Installation of a dashcam?

Now I just have to figure out how to remove the c pillar so I can get the rear dash wired up...
For mounting or running the wire? I was able to run the wire along the headliner with only moderate difficulty. Mounted the rear camera to the top of the hatch glass.

Which way is the fuse tap hanging from the fuse box, left or right? (I should probably invest in a multimeter ) Mind sharing pics of the your taps on the fuse box? :D

I had a real hard time getting through the c pillar and finding the way through the cable rubber hose router thing on the top... finally managed to yank the c pillar off but broke a clip... everything is tucked in nicely now though, and I stuck the rear cam in the little slit that is the lower half of that window and it's nice and hidden. Really excited to take it out for a drive and see what it looks like!

I'll take a picture for you tomorrow, if I don't forget!

Here is my installation, works when the car is powered off and I walk away. Let me know if you have any questions!

Sweet TY! So you're not using fuse 2? And you're using a 5A fuse? Don't you need to use a 10A fuse to compliment the A/C? Sorry, I'm a total noob when it comes to fuses 😑

So both fuses are on the fuse tap thing, you just can't see it because of how the tap is designed, but it is under the yellow fuse that you can see.

The 5a yellow fuse that you can see is where the power splits to the dash cam, and under that is the original 10a fuse that is now placed in the fuse tap, and that the tap allows that power to redirect back into the car. So where the 5a fuse now is, if the power exceeds 5a, the fuse will break and stop the power from killing your dash cam, but the 10a functions as it did originally except it is re-routed through the tap thing now.

Took a few pics for anyone wanting to remove the cover around the rear view mirror. Did this in the sun & it took very little effort because of the heat.
1) after popping out the little insert, slide you finger inside & tug the cover towards the driver’s front wheel (shown in pic).
2) once the lower left corner pops out, holding that corner slightly away from the window shift it toward the passenger front wheel.
3) once the front two clips are free, wiggle the cover gently pulling towards the front of the car.

Installation is just getting the top section hooked on the corresponding hooks & then snap the bottom on.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Yes, it is a shame that the cameras cannot be accessed at this time.

Three questions before I hard wire my rear view camera (front camera is powered through the rear view mirror/Dongar but I want to rewire things and have front and rear cameras hard wired for parking mode).

1. In case the 12 Volt car battery accidentally drains, I have a battery jump starter made for old fashioned gasoline cars. I looked under the hood planning ahead and the battery terminals are covered by a plastic engine cover thing. The plastic engine cover is secured with unknown plastic fasteners - from the top they look like they might be screws but they don't screw out. Do I just pop them out? And where to I attach leads to jump start the battery in case it happens?

2. Has anyone used a battery jump starter to start their G60 if the 12 Volt battery dies. I assume it would work but don't like to assume anything. I am being extra cautious because my Genesis dealer is a very long ways away.

3. For attaching to the grounded hard point in the photo near the fuse box, how do you attach the ground wire to it?

As far as the pins that hold the plastic cover, use a thin bladed screwdriver to pop up the the center of that button, it will pop up. Then remove the whole clip.

The plastic rivets require a slim slot screwdriver to just pry them up. The section of cover is removed by grabbing the area above the battery & tugging up. It’s a bit daft to use those rivets on a piece that will most likely need to be removed at an inopportune time. Probably better not to replace that rivet until you feel it necessary. I wired a remote connection spot where I also connected the battery monitor, attached with Velcro so I can just pop the whole thing off if I need to take the car in for service. Perhaps a bit overkill but a problem will never occur in my garage, it’ll be poring with rain.

My Ioniq 5 does not use the fasteners there. But it also does not have the net in the frunk, or a light.

For 2) yes I have used a portable battery boaster pack like

NOCO Genius GB40 Boost Plus Booster Pack/Jump Starter, 1000-Amp, 12V

Which then allows the car to start !
Really bad design that the massive battery pack in the vehicle doesn’t keep the 12V battery charged. Hopefully Genesis can fix this problem.

Surround view monitor in the Genesis app can access all the dashcams so seems like they could have implemented something like Tesla's sentry mode if they really wanted to. It's almost like they intentionally want the North American models to be inferior to the Korean versions. I understand some things like full self driving are illegal in Korea but why hold back on AR navigation and the dashcams?

While this doesn't justify Hyundai messing up the 12v battery issue, seems like as long as you keep your battery above 35%, the car should auto charge it

unless I'm wrong

Has anyone successfully hard-wired a front/rear dash cam? Curious on what the process was like and if any trims had to be completely removed or airbags avoided
