I just bought my 4.6 w/tech package... I want to add some aftermarket wood dash trim to the interior.

My question is this... do you recommend that I hire an installer for this, or can I do it myself?

It looked pretty easy from the directions, but I have never done anything like this before.

Thank you,
klg

Response: Interior Wood Dash Trim Kit for 2009 HYUNDAI GENESIS w/tech

Wow! Could you please post some pictures? That looks like a great kit!
Is it real wood? Is it an easy install?
I did a wood install on my Volvo and it was easy.

it is just a stick on kit, not real wood. I would like to see pics to see how it matches to the oem wood.

Exoticwooddash.com is a great website to check out dash kits from.

I bought on for my Elantra that I traded in for my Genesis. I bought a medium rosewood 17 piece kit and I did not by the synthetic kit....I bought the real wood laminit which costs more but you get what you pay for.

in other words go real wood.

Mine was very easy to install and looks perfect. It comes with the thin 3M tape on the back of each piece, and you remove the white paper covering the adhiesive and stick onto your existing dash.

I haven't received the kit yet... they say it is supposed to match the OEM black wood in my car. I will post pictures after I install it. How did you like the wood install for your volvo? Did it last? I'm glad to hear it was easy.

I LOVED the wood kit for the Volvo. Lasted 5+ years till I sold it. It looked really good, almost authentic, but still really good. It was a black/black car and the rosewood significantly enhanced the interior look.
I hate Black cars and now, I have another one. Boy, am I a masochist!

Okay... The wood dash came and I installed it myself. I'm surprised at how easy it was! I decided not to use all the pieces they give you for the kit. (especially the ones for the ceiling) Here are the photos.

Nice! But how does it REALLY look and feel?

I love the way it looks. The match to the OEM wood is great and it feels the same. When my daughter (she's 19) looked at it, she couldn't tell the difference between what was originally in the car and what I installed with the kit. Of course, I can tell, but that is because I was the one who installed it. I really like the pieces added to the steering wheel. Like I said in my previous post, I didn't use all the pieces... the one for the CD player didn't look good, so I didn't use it. Plus I like the little bit of silver showing.

How much did you pay for everything?

Just the cost of the kit, which was $104... it was the only kit out there that I could find, that matched the wood in my Genesis. (dark brown/black)

I think this looks really great! I need to find some before and after pictures to fully appreciate it.

Hi KLG. Love the look of the kit. I have the 4.6 w/tech, and the red pearl/beige leather combination. The 'wood' trim that's there looks rather dark to me, darker than what's in your great photos. How can I be sure which wood grain color I have? Thanks....

Looks too tacked on and ill-fitted for my taste, but if it makes you happy that's all that matters. :)

I do have to say though, I really like the dark wood that comes w/ the Cashmere.

I have the same kit in my car, very easy to install. If you have never put one in, the trick is to test fit each piece and number them, then clean all the surfaces well with rubbing alcohol, use a heat gun, or hair dryer to warm the pieces up and make them soft and pliable, finally for the pieces that curve, ie: the steering wheel pieces, use the the enclosed small tube that promotes curing.

Do you feel the colors match?
