  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

iPhone 5 cable

Don't buy a cheap imitation Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter! I bought the imitation adapter for $18 and it was waste of money. iPhone is charged but not connected to audio system. I guess only genuine Apple adapter works perfectly.

It's not really related... but:

I was hoping that the iPad mini would fit flush with the current nav screen opening, but it is approx 0.3" too short, top to bottom. Lengthwise it fits.

Might have been an interesting alternative to our nav (when the Google Maps app is released of course).

Guess I'll have to wait for the Xbox 360 Surface mini tablet to come out. I hear that one will be in the 7" inch range.

Dang... I ordered one for $15 off Amazon last week. Should be here any day now. Fingers crossed... $39 is a ripoff for an adapter cable!!

Ok, so I got my adapter cable yesterday, went for a drive and couldn't make it work. Doesn't even charge the phone. The car seems to ackowledge the OEM cable is plugged into the AUX jack, but that's about it. Does it matter the order in which things are connected? Needless to say, I've tried a number of combinations and can't seem to get it to work. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

FYI: I have a 2012 Genesis 3.6 with tech

I can't get mine to work properly with the Equus. It recognizes one album (about a dozen songs) on the phone and will play it. The other 375 plus songs are not recognized (don't show up). I never got the iPhone 4s to work at all (play songs) with the former Genesis. The iPhone 3 worked fine with the Genesis.

Are u by chance using iTunes Match ? If so it can't see what's not actually on your phone

I guess I'm too old to understand how iTunes Match works. Even though I believe I actually have most songs downloaded from the cloud I still have problems. I found one song that said was still on the cloud and downloaded it to the phone and now that one will play but most of the others that I'm reasonably sure are on the phone will not play.
I discovered that Pandora will play so I think it is not a connection problem (most likely a user problem-me). Since I have all of the songs that are or may not be on the phone on a flash drive I'm not going to risk a brain hemorrhage trying to get the phone to play all of the songs. My first car (1957 Chrysler New Yorker) had windows that you had to roll down by hand and an AM radio that had one speaker so all of the stuff on new cars is absolutely amazing to me. In my old age I have become completely spoiled by modern technology. Thanks!

In iOS 6 if u just start playing a song from your library it streams it now doesn't just download it as before so that's the reason u think u have. U actually have to click the small cloud button now to download them to your device that will fix your issue. So don't blame it on your self they changed the way it worked

Ah ha! I believe you got it. Thought I had done that. Songs that I thought were on the phone in fact were not. When I look at individual songs there is no little cloud but when I look at Artists or Albums there is a cloud. Thanks. I think it will work now. You may have saved me from getting all stressed out and having a brain hemorrhage.

Finally got my ip5 and the 0.2m Lighting to 30-pin adapter. +1 for it working just fine with my 09 4.6 with Tech package:)

Hi everybody,

I bought 2011 Genesis 4.6 with Tech package ten days ago and it came with iPhone adapter. I don't use it and I don't need it. If somebody interested send me PM.

Regards,
MozartMan

2012 Genesis 5.0 Finally got my iPhone 5 and two "cheap aftermarket" 30 pin to lightning adapters. One does not work at all, the other only charges. Both result in the AUX display reading: No Video Signal.
Genuine Apple 30pin to lightning adapter on the way. But it is clearly described as not supporting video. Why is the Genesis entertainment system looking for a video signal? The 3.5mm jack on the OEM cable has an extra conductor which is probably for video, but neither my iPhone 3 or Nano output video signal but worked fine.
Can anyone confirm that the Apple brand adapter works?

Are you asking whether the 30-pin to Lightning adapter works to play music like it did for previous generation iOS devices? Or, are you asking whether the adapter enables video playback from any device.

The adapter works to play music with an iPhone 5 just like the Hyundai cable did with iOS devices with the 30-pin plug.

However, I have never tried to play video with either my iPhone 4 or iPhone 5 without or with the adapter. I am not aware that the iPhone/iPod will play video through the Hyundai cable.

That's what the screen the system defaults to when it dosen't recognize what plugged into the USB port. As u already realize it has to be the aftermarket 30pin adapter

So in case there is someone who is still wondering, the "genuine" Apple lightning to 30 pin adapter works seamlessly with full functionality (audio, charging, iphone controls).
So, that should be that, with regard to this subject.

Go to: BrokeMyCell.com they have the Phone 5 lightning Adapter for the 30 pin adapter for 14.95 ea. plus 2.99 shipping. I recommend if you have an iPhone case get the adapter with cord for $18.95 because the plain adapter will not fit the phone with an iphone case or a Ipad mini with a case on it. But it will work to adapt your Genny, Equus or other Hyundai iphone cords to adapt to the new iphones.
The iphone store is $39.95 for the adapter~!
