  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Here is what happens.

1.) Approach the Genesis with all doors locked and Key fob in pocket
2.) Unlock just the drivers door by pushing the drivers door once.
3.) Start the Car and leave it running.
4.) Get out of the car (Like you forgot something or you are running around to open the door for your date.)
5.) Try to open the passenger door, by pushing the door button or pushing the unlock button on the key fob.

I could not open the passenger door at all, without running back to the drivers seat. Is this how it is supposed to work?

Very strange, Cut Throat. I should think that you would be able to unlock from the outside with the fob while the engine is running. I just tried mine and it works the same way as yours.

Maybe this is an anti-car jacking feature! :p Or at least a way to keep your date/passenger safely locked in!

You don't get the warning when you exit the car after starting?

As to the situation, since you're in the car to start it, can't you just push the unlock button? Then walk around and open the door for her?
She won't know the difference.

Yes, I know how to operate the car when seated in the Drivers Seat.

If you had to design the car, would you have it work this way? Or if by chance, you forgot to open the door when seated, and then left the car, would you like the feature to open the door with the fob?

It is by design you cannot use the proximity button when the car is running.

Also you can't lock the car when running if you have the key outside the car..

Wally is right - this is how the system is designed to work. Actually, it makes sense to me. You just have to get used to it.

on the TL you can throw the fob inside the trunk, close it and it will open instantly. Genesis does that too?

When you approach THE DRIVERS SIDE of the locked Genesis, with the key on your person, and press the little button on the handle ONCE, only the drivers door will unlock. Now comes the "heads up" :

BEFORE you open that door, if you press the little button on the handle again within 4 seconds of your first press, the other doors will unlock.

Now, let's say you approach the PASSENGER SIDE of the locked Genesis with the key on you and in proximity, and press the little button on the passenger side door just once, that unlocks all 4 doors.

It is a pretty good safety feature, when you think about it, as a single driver who only needs to unlock the driver door.

Conversely, if you are hauling kids or groceries to the passenger side, it kinda knows that there's supposed to be a driver who will need access to the driver side.

Happy trails!,

No it does not open automatically. But it does emit a constant beep to let you know that the fob is in the trunk. Then you simply press the outside trunk release to retieve the fob.
