  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Issues/problems with the G70

Idle stop and go (ISG) problem

New G70, just 100 miles and I have never seen the ISG icon on the instrument panel...whether it be yellow or green...nothing. And, of course, the car's engine has never stopped when car is stopped. I was wondering if that could be becasue of the many, many conditions that will disengage the ISG? I'm here in south Fl where we have been having very hot weather, but still no ISG when temps are below 95F. But, then the fan A/C could still be on high enough to cause disengagement? Brakes seem to be working well, thus no vacuum problem, I assume. Will probably have to call the dealer and test their concierge service...to which they sworn would promptly pick up the car and leave me with a loaner.

You have a 2.0T ? The 3.3T doesn’t have it...thank goodness!

If the 2.0T...have you messed with the button in the lower center console?

I've got the 3.3T. Are you absolutely sure that the 3.3T doesn't have it? I really don't mind whether or not I have it, but I am bothered by thinking that something is wrong with its operation.

EDIT: No need to reply, Beefer, as I have just confirmed (from the Stop/Go sub-forum) that's the way it is...no ISG on the 3.3T.

Hey, Beefer, you are so right about my looking for the damn icon and/or for the engine to stop. Funny thing is that there have to be a lot of other new to G70 folks putting on the same WTF is wrong show.

Actually, this is indeed a known issue. It affects every 20MY G70 shipped for the first few months. There's a software fix rolling out in the next few weeks that resolves the issue and restores the functionality. The "LOCK" button on the lid is supposed to close the trunk and lock all doors with one push. In the first few months of production, the cars with the power trunk lid were missing this programming. Thankfully it was caught quickly and a fix was developed at the factory.

Hi PD705. Might you have any updates regarding this? I contacted my rep and service contacts for Genesis. I havent heard any news. Been over a month now.

Hey gang, can a canadian owner of a 3.3 sport let me know if they have any power seat controls on the left side of the passenger seat accesable by the driver ? I do not but have seen it in the reviews of the US version

Thanks
I own a 3.3T Sport and was disappointed to find that the passenger seatback controls are missing. Guess this is a Canadian market thing. Very disappointing!

It was decided to not offer it for the Canadian market. Silly.

I have weld spatter under the paint on the inside druver side door header as well as one tiny spot of spatter on the exterior of the driver door. :-(

Not good because that causes a peak/thin layer of paint and eventual rust. I didnt notice it until a month or so after buying the car.

I also had my driver seat motor grinding and needed replacement at 250 miles.

Lastly, two of my factory wheels were out of balance from day one.

This damn cabin noise is driving me insane.
Hyundai took it for two weeks to fix it, couldn't.
Now they are telling me it's normal, just live with it.
Am I ever going to buy another Genesis or recommend it to anyone? Don't think so...

This is from the service paper,
-ROAD TESTED WITH FIELD TECHNICIAN FROM HYUNDAI CANADA.
NOISE WAS PRESENT BUT VERY INTERMITTENT.
HE ALSO EXPLAINS THAT THIS AMOUNT OF NOISE IS CONSIDERED AN ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF CABIN NOISE
-NO FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS CAN BE DONE AT THIS TIME

Check the clips and you guys tell me if I am just being picky.

Second clip @ 2 Sec and 16 Sec

PS. Since it came back from the service, my car is no longer beeping when locking. FML.

No kidding not normal. Not acceptable. Is it completely random? Specific gears, speeds or surfaces?

Mine is Auto, it happens when pushing between 40 to 80 ish which is driving me insane since I am hearing it pretty much every minute when driving local. My wife is still making fun of me whenever she's in my car. "Better than my 16 Lexus IS huh?"

That sounds somewhat similar to the propeller shaft issue that affected a lot of 2015+ genesis/G80 models. It happened on my previous car at 25-30 mph. The fix was to get the propeller shaft replaced entirely. There's a huge thread on that in the 2015-2016 genesis forum.

Thanks for the information, they do sound somewhat similar but not sure if they will try to fix it again at this point.
I've contacted their corporate office via email, and my dealer called me today that he was contacted by them about my issue.
I love this car, had it for less than 3 months but I am not sure if I would ever buy Genesis again at this point.
There is no doubt that Hyundai is now capable of making a great quality car, but their quality of service is still stuck in 1990's.
What's the point of promoting a slogan 'we come to you', all they do is wasting my mileage, gas, and time?

This is from today morning, took a fresh one in case their head office might ask me for more.

You can hear the sound around 6s, 10s, and 18s

can anyone tell me if their lock button works as designed? from what i understand... as long as no doors are open and the keyfob is NOT in the cabin, lock on the trunk will lock the doors, then you can use the auto close trunk and walk away from car.

My lock button in the trunk seems to work as designed. When I press it, the trunk closes, the mirrors fold in and all the doors lock. I don't have to hold it for a few seconds or anything like that, just one quick push and it works. Also, I'm pretty sure it works no matter how I've opened my trunk - whether I've opened it manually, used the open trunk button to the bottom left of the steering wheel, auto open with the smart trunk, or the keyfob (rarely) - the lock button will work as described. Hope you can get some help from your dealer.

Welll...I’m fed up. I was very patient...and kept quiet. But today was the 4th time.

The native navigation freaking SUCKS. Fourth time it has put me deep into some freaking neighborhood where the destination is behind the backyards.

WTF...who enters the shit data into this POS.

Btw...I love my car.

I've noticed it will usually take you to the back of wherever you are going and that the "time to destination" is almost always optimistic AF. I've only matched the timing when spiritedly driving in little to no traffic

Absolutely correct! This is not a data problem. The programming algorithm is screwed up. Instead of taking you to the street address, it takes you to the closest location to the actual building which might be on a neighboring street. Especially if the address is set back from the street and closer to a neighboring street or back yard. We need to complain to mapnsoft and give them actual examples of where it fails. Unfortunately I have always found it difficult to communicate with them.

Yeah...we need to somehow. Reason I was so ticked off is...by the time I figured out how to get out of where I was deeply lodged into...and got to my doctor's office...I was 10 min late. I do not like being late.
