If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 3.3T Jerky auto transmission (hard downshifts while braking)

I just wanna chime in, I have purchased a new 22 G70 3.3T a couple of months ago and I'm having the same problem, it only happens during the warm up though.
I've noticed it being worse in sport or sport plus mode. It's tolerable and I think I'll get used to it. I'm coming from a Honda Accord so I keep telling myself it's just a more powerful engine and increased torque at lower speeds. Have you noticed it worse in sport plus than eco or comfort mode? Keep in mind I only have 400 miles on my 2022 3.3 g70 so far. Any clarification from you 3.3t vets would be appreciated.

I have a 22 3.3t awd with 3500 on it. My only has a hard downshift so far when in sport or sport plus mode. I’m going to see if I can get the dealership to reset the adaptives when I get my 1st oil change

Yes I think sport and sport+ are designed to have harsh shifts. But this shouldn't happen in comfort or eco. I have 7000 miles on my car now, the problem is still happening though not as bad as when I first got it but it's pretty annoying.

I researched the car before I decided to get one. I read thru all of this forum and was aware of this issue…I kinda underestimated how annoying it was going to be. Mine seems to only do it when going from 3rd to 2nd gear and it might not do it every time or just not aware it is about to happen so I can’t prepare for it. That’s the most annoying part.

I just picked up a 2019 G70 2.0 from Carvana on Saturday. I absolutely love this car but I don’t know if I can get over this shifting issue. It’s throwing me forward every time I drive slow around my neighborhood, it feels awful.

I’m going to call into my closest Genesis dealer tomorrow to see if they have any suggestions but from the sound of it, the reset everyone is talking about is hit or miss and typically is only a short term fix. Has anyone just gotten used to this issue in time? I’m not sure if I can and I have until this Friday 11/5 to turn the car back in if I don’t want it. Such a disappointment, this car is almost perfect.

Like I mentioned above I have about 7000 miles on my '22 and the hard downshifts are still there, to be honest I still find it annoying and I have not completely gotten used to it, I would love to have a smooth braking. Many times if I'm stopping on a red light up a hill the car would harshly stop on the downshift and I would need to hit the gas again to get closer to the light.. It's really frustrating.

I would understand if this only happened in Sport modes but to have that in comfort is not good.

Thanks for this. Sorry to hear you’re still experiencing it. I took my car to the dealer yesterday for an inspection. Told him I was experiencing this issue. They checked the vehicle from top to bottom and cleared the adaptive values. My advisor told me he felt no issues with the shifting and thought it could just be me coming from an older car (2014 Q50) and this is how new cars are. I refuse to believe this, this car has a shifting problem.

Needless to say, the adaptive value reset did not fix the issue and I am leaning towards giving it back to Carvana tomorrow. I hope this company seriously looks into this issue because I love their vehicles but can’t live with that transmission.

I’m having an issue with my transmission, started to notice it since the car had about 20000 km on the clock (car now has 52000 km)

the car doesn’t smoothly downshifts during normal soft braking or in stop and go traffic or at a traffic light
The downshifts are very noticeable and that makes the braking experience unpleasant. Especially when I’m braking very softly, the car brakes very soft (brakes) then it suddenly brakes harder (transmission) then brakes softly again (brakes) then harder again (transmission).
this isn’t something that I’ve experienced in any other car.
the closest other car that does that is my 2018 G80 3.8L but it’s much smoother.

recently I’m experiencing jerky downshifts more often (the downshifts are harder and with a slight noise, sometimes louder) .. I’m not having fun with the car anymore

car modifications: Ark GT-F springs, spacers, wider tyres front and rear (20mm) on stock sport rims (245/40/19 front .. 275/35/19 rear)

the shift points are a little bit different (says other G70 and stinger owners who test drove my car) but this could be due to the fact that I’m running fatter tyres >> bit taller side wall
But this one doesn’t really bother me and it’s still very smooth

could someone suggest a fix for these hard downshifts?
the dealer claims he checked it and it’s normal and he also claims he did a software upgrade to the transmission control module .. but that obviously didn’t help
I know if I keep going to the dealer about it he would blame it on the Tyre size

I had this problem even with stock tyres (tyres changed at 40000 km) .. did try to run the stock tyre size now and that didn’t help also >> so maybe the tyres aren’t the problem here (only transmission effect tyre diameter have is on the final drive ratio)

I’m still hopeful this could be solved through software.. any help or advice?

thank you
I’m having the same exact problem on my 2019 G70 3.3T with AWD. It’s driving me crazy!! I’ve had in in the dealer once already and they also say it tested fine and they reset the transmission. I figured out that it happens when the car hits 12 mph. The car is going back on the 17th and they’re expecting to keep it for a while to figure out the issue. I’ll keep everyone updated with what they find. Fingers crossed, as I really love this car, but the jerk when it downshifts is definitely spoiling my enjoyment.

Please keep us posted. I ended up keeping my vehicle but I’m still having this issue and it’s very annoying. Have the same issue right around 12-15mph. If I’m not braking and just letting the car coast I notice it’s a very delayed and harsh shift, super uncomfortable.

I did reach out to Genesis corporate and received the response below. Going to take it to a different dealer and see what they say but I’m sure I’ll get the same response from them. I would encourage everyone to reach out to corporate with this issue. Hopefully the more they hear about it the quicker they’ll come out with a resolution. I used this link: New Message | MyGenesis

I contacted corporate as well and I’ve been speaking with a person named Mary who set up a case. She has been extremely helpful getting a time set up to have my car looked at and keeping me updated on her progress. The dealer expects to have my car from the 17th to the 29th of this month, so I’m hopeful there will be a resolution.

I'm very surprised those dealerships are not aware of this problem since it seems to be so common.

I don’t think they can actually fix it so they play “dumb”. That’s just my opinion we will see what they say at my first oil change.

Yes I was gonna say that, definitely more likely.

They’re keeping my car for for 12 days and providing me their loaner for that time, so I’m assuming they have some sort of game plan with their engineers. I’m willing to give Genesis the benefit of the doubt at this point. If they truly want to play in the luxury car space with the big boys, they’re going to need to make sure they have happy customers.

Surely. This is pretty much my only complaint about this car, and it's pretty frustrating, a smooth drive would be nice.

Purchased mine which is a 2019 3.3TT Sport Dynamic new in early 2020.
I believed I had posted the similar issue in this forum when the car was breaking in.
My experience in the first 3-5k miles the "jerking" issue was very noticeable especially when the engine is cold.
The ride now is over 10k and I hardly feel anything anymore.
Also note that the car has been to a local Hyundai 3 times for oil change and that's about it. Nothing else has been done since I did not file any complaint about the issue.

So, the car is like a child and you think it will grow out of it? I’m at nearly 6,000 miles with two oil changes through the dealer and the problem has only gotten worse. I’d be interested to hear what everyone else’s mileage is and if anyone has a similar experience. Thanks for the post!

I purchased used so I've only driven ~700 miles but the vehicle has over 10k on it. There are a lot of posts about this online and not many people indicate their problem went away on its own. For those that it did I am wondering if they just got used to it over time.

It was 45F this morning and since these posts once again caught my attention so I decided to test the car with both Sport and Custom modes for the first 5 miles or so in city street speed (<45mph). BTW I normally use Comfort mode.
Seriously the car ran pretty smooth like I have lately been experiencing.
Back in 2020 when the G70 was new and breaking in the wife used to complain about the jerkiness all the time.
