My fob's battery died the other day so I bought a couple new batteries and proceeded to YouTube to watch a video on the proper method to replace it. Unfortunately, I found one (by a dealer's service manager) which suggested using the key to split the case apart. DO NOT DO THAT!
I managed to bend the key AND chipped a piece off the fob trying to pry the case apart.
Instead, do this: There is a little slot right next to the key storage hole. Find a straight blade screwdriver the same size as the slot. Insert and twist - the case will come apart very easily with no risk of breaking the plastic or bending your emergency key.
