  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Leather wear

Mine looks worse than yours! 50K miles and I weigh 180lbs. The problem is apparently only with seats that are air conditioned. The dealer will replace the seat cover. Mine did, but it looks even worse now.

G1 or G2? Pictures?

what type of leather cleaner to you use?

I have read posts in another forum that using certain products too frequently could lead to over softening the leather, and could lead to the stretching. I am not sure that Lexol was one of the products mentioned.

Real leather does tend to soften and stretch a bit, and develop some creases with wear. That in itself is not necessarily a defect.

I had really good luck with Zaino's leather cleaner, and conditioner. The cleaner did a great job removing dirt, and the conditioner was excellent, and smelled great, but not artificial.

I recently found a product at Walmart called "Surf City Garage Voodoo Blend Leather Rejuvenator" It seems very similar to the Zaino. I prefer both that and the Zaino to Lexol.

It's also available on Amazon, and it had very good reviews.

is this on black leather. I may try the Zaino.

kinda defeats the purpose but i had seat covers on my 2012 Optima for 4 years and took them off to trade the car in and the leather looked prestine.

It's been a while since I posted the question and I finally tried the Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner. It worked great! The cleaner removed the shine and some creases from the leather. It looks new again! I did use the conditioner, but I'm not sure it's needed.

Lexol is great. I put conditioner on twice per year and use cleaner as needed.

I have a Montecito Blue, 5.0 Ultimate with the light gray seats. With 17K miles, I'm looking to maintain the seats with something. I'm old school and used to use saddle soap with good results.

I am worried about the "airation holes" for the heating and cooling getting clogged. Lexol is not clogging the holes? Thanks for any input.

I have the same interior. I'd recommend checking out autogeek or detailedimage for good products to compare. I use some chemical guys cleaner every couple days and condition by spraying a mf towel instead of on the seats.

You know, its not really recommended to be spraying almost ANYTHING on the car first, wether it be wax's, coatings, cleaners (not including wheels).
Common sense is not so common.

I've had good luck with Griot's products. I vacuum the interior, then clean the leather with their Interior cleaner. After that, I apply the leather conditioner with shop towel to avoid clogging the ventilation holes.

Many thanks glennk and alwaysforward. I'm investigating Lexol, Griot and a few others...will call the manufacturers for their input as well.

Don't think you could go wrong with either of those products. My local Hyundai dealer recommends Lexol, but I've had a long standing relationship with Griots.

I use Lexoyl without issues. I spray it on the rag and wipe it on the seats.

Any of you guys have any leather maintenance products you use or recommend. Is superior leather lotion worth anything?
Thanks!
2009 4.6

I know that leather wears... this is not my 1st, 2nd or 3rd car with a leather interior. I think the issue at hand is the OP's car has 6,000 miles and mine has 5,000. Both my lexus cars and Acura did not exhibit this type of wear at such low miles. I am very meticulous with my cars, I do feel this is cause for concern on a brand new 45k plus vehicle.
I just secured a 09 V8 52k+ miles from Las Vegas leather is mint!
Any advise on product to use to keep it that way?

I think dark vs light is key, I have the seven year old 2009 with 60k miles, still looks much better better than my 15k year and half old R-Spec.
Also for some reason I used the seat warmer on R-Spec a bit more than I ever did on the 4.6/tech which may also played a factor.
As a side note, both cars are loved / taken care of the same way and both cars, as far as I am aware, use the. same type of premium leather as the 2015 ultimate..
So how do I get that a2dp/Bluetooth mod? Mine will not recognize the iPhone... 09 v8 tech...
Thanks in advance!

I'll post up a pic later, but I have one of the higher-mileage Genesis here IIRC, 50,000 miles and I think my leather looks great.

I too use the Zaino Leather In A Bottle. Two thumbs way up.
