  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lexicon Audio System causing rear window shade to vibrate badly...

Hi all, (Lexicon 17 Speaker, 528 Watt System from the Tech Package).

I'm looking for some suggestions/feedback that would possibly help me with this situation, it would be greatly appreciated so long as it's constructive in nature;(please don't say lower the volume or anything silly like that lol). The audio system in this car is well capable of handling it and is world renown as being one of the best audio solutions for what is considered a "stock unit":

When I start playing my music a bit on the loud side (from 15ish-22 on the volume meter) with all treble, mid-range, and bass settings on flat across the board and it hits low bass notes, the Sun Shade starts to vibrate a lot and makes this horrible resonating noise that transfers through the back deck and in turn makes the trunk start to rattle. If you get out and close all the doors and look at the back deck with the music turned up on something with moderately heavy bass you can see the shade vibrating like crazy.

Has anyone found a solution or has any suggestion on how to deaden the amount that the shade vibrates/jumps without disabling the ability of the shade to move? I thought about using some DynaMat but the installer at Best Buy said it has a tar like backing to it to help it stick and if any of it gets on the tan cloth on the back deck you would never get it off.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions, I truly appreciate all the help that the community gives and love coming here to talk about our car(s). :grouphug:

Thanks for posting this. I started experience the same buzzing sound last week when listening to Linkin Park's "Shadow of the Day"...deep, thudding bass. I figured the subwoofer mounted on the rear deck was shaking a little loose. Didn't consider the shade as a possible culprit.
