  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Alright, here's a strange one for you. I replaced my license plate festoons with Cree 6418 LED's. They looked great. After driving around for a little I saw my cars reflection. The LED strip in the headlight was out. I thought the bulb in the front was blown and was going to take it to Hyundai to be replaced...which was odd to me for a 2014. However, yesterday evening my girlfriend pointed out that my tail light was out as well. Both lights on the same side. At the same time, the new LED in the plate was out. I removed the bulb, the tail light and LED in the headlight came back on. I touched the new LED to the posts inside the socket for the license plate, once it made contact the new LED lit up then went off and so did the taillight and LED in the front. So I figured the bulb was defective. I removed it and left only one LED in which is bright enough to light the plate on it's own. I arrived home a few minutes ago and saw my passenger side tail light and LED are out now. I'm confused as to what's happening because of these LED's. They're amazing LED's and I wish I could use them. Has this happened to anyone else or am I the lucky one? My car looks like it's suffered from a stroke, in that only one side works and the other only works minimally. :(

Wow. Cant wait to see some answers on this one! I have no idea how they would even be linked up???

I assume your talking about rear plates, but I use LEDs for mine and have no issues. Mine are 194 that you can get from any auto zone or O'Riley's.

I have no idea. I took a video of me unlocking the car and the tail light going on for a split second then go out again and another of the LED strip in the front.

I am. On the sedan they are Festoon bulbs. 36MM to be exact. I ordered high power Cree LED's.

I have. Done a lot of business with them as well. Unfortunately their festoons aren't as bright as I would like. The ones I have are extremely bright, they have 3 high powered cree LED in each bulb....just wish they'd work :(

Have you asked them about what's happening at least? Maybe they have some good insight. Sorry I could be of much help since I have a coupe.

The guys at D.D. won't give any support to products that aren't theirs. However, their customer service is hands down the best I've ever seen.

I am thinking that the resistance change is somehow confusing the Body Control Module. Do you have means to measure the resistance on the stock bulbs and then the LED? The BCM must be seeing a change in resistance and that is causing some sort of feedback into the system.

I'm not quite sure how I'd do that to be honest with you. It's a shame because these bulbs are incredibly bright and I'd love to use them.

If you have a multi-meter you can measure the ohms on each bulb. Then (maybe) we can begin to figure out what may be happening.
