Lip spoiler, what wheels, what tires (one things leads to another)

long time lurker, first time poster.

recently acquired a slightly used 2011 4.6 (white satin pearl exterior, dark brown/black interior). very impressed with the car, and with this forum - lots of good info.

have been considering wing-badging and adding a lip spoiler (this link as an example eBay link to Advanation here ) ... but while looking at the ad, i got curious about the wheels/rubber in the pix. have never heard of falken before, and the wheels are sharp but unidentifiable to me.

so 3 questions:
  • anyone know what kind of wheels these are?
  • any opinions on falkens?
  • any opinions on a lip (rear) spoiler?

and to think this all started by reading a rebadge thread ... there goes the bank account. :(

appreciate any insight.
 
Welcome to the forum. I am also sub'd for the lip spoiler. Looks like a good price and would like to see someone chime in with reviews or experiences.

As to the wheels, I am not sure. Good question.

To the Falkens. They have always been a good tire from what I remember. Are there better tires? Sure. Are there worse? Totally. What you get will depend on the size and availability.

Personally I use Continental ExtremeContact DWS's and have been extremely satisfied with them. Other's have picked the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, both are excellent overall choices in tires.
 
Can't speak for the wheels. Those are very agressive offset and width, and this will negatively affect handling. Given a higher offset and less width I wouldn't mind that wheel design on my car. I actually like them. The car in the picture is for sure on an aftermarket suspension (coilovers). Because of how aggressive those wheels are and how low it sits, all suspension travel will have had to have been removed. Not exactly a set up with ride comfort in mind.

Falkens are budget tires. They are by no stretch of the imagination good tires, but they are better than most of the off-brand even lower budget tires.
 
That vehicle belongs to a member here. I believe they are 20" staggered, and he does have coil overs. His car looks great. The rear lip is held on with tape, pretty easy installation. I had one on my last 4.6 and just received one for my Rspec.

am still in the (original) dunlops at ~15k and they're a little squirrely (and per the reviews, worthless in snow). will consider Contis & (per commentary elsewhere) Bridgestones as well.

concerned a tad about spoiler paint match - pearl is really nice looking; would hate to mess that up.

vertinis are way too rad for my old bones/sensibilities (as are aftermarket suspension mods), but they sure look sharp on that black unit.

completely agree. They remind me what what people got installed on their cars when I was in High school. Budget tires the the teens could afford especially their higher speed rated tires.......

I also chose the Continental ExtremeContact DWS and have been extremely satisfied . Haven’t experienced any of the negative symptoms reported by other users. One of the smoothest quietest rides I’ve experienced. Compliments the car beautifully.

I put Falkens on my 09 after my Dunlops( 33K) ran their course. I drive hard and the Falkens were no better or worse than the Dunlops. I was able to get 34K on the Falkens. I currently have Kumho Esta on the car, they are very quiet and have great wet traction.
 
A little off subject here.

For those running the Conti DWS, have you passed the 10K mile mark with them and if so, do you get any road noise? I've heard others say they are great tires untill you reach 10K and then they start making a terrible road noise. I'm at 16K on my factory bridgestones and will be needing tires soon.
 
OneFun: How's the quality of the part and paint?
can you post some pics once you have it installed?
 
Part fit = Excellent

Part Paint Match = Very Good

Part Paint Quality = Okay. I will need to color sand the part to get some imperfections out I think.

Ditto that.

Here's mine. ;) Be cautious when installing it though. The adhesive is VERY sticky. You have to position it exactly where you want it. Helps to have a helping hand.
