Someone should let Genesis know if it's no longer "Located at Pearson Hyundai"

I dont think there is anyone who knows what stand alone means. So it’s kind of pointless listing what is or isn’t. It seems there are degrees of stand alone. Physically free standing. Does that mean that if the Hyundai building is 5 feet away is ok? Does it have to be at least a mile away? If it’s a mile away but they drive the car over to use the Hyundai service bays is that ok or not? If it is physically separate from Hyundai but share facilities with Bentley is that freestanding?

Here’s the sign at Pearson Genesis of Richmond. It’s not a new build, but it’s stand-alone as well as filled with plenty of used cars from other brands. Word is that a new showroom will be built adjacent to Pearson’s Hyundai showroom down the street about two miles.

Do they service Genesis vehicles at the Genesis store or is service for Genesis only available at the Hyundai shop?

Yes, they sell and service at this building. It’s one large building. The Hyundai sales and service is located two miles down the street.

It sounds like Genesis has dedicated space there and while not a stand-alone, it's a step up from being in the Hyundai showroom. Service also sounds like an improvement over the Hyundai shop, you're fortunate to have that nearby. Thank you for the info.

As PMC Ernie showed above it is a "free standing Genesis dealer".

It does carry a variety of other used brands but from a business standpoint if it only sold new Genesis vehicles it wouldn't last a year with the limited allocations we're seeing.

My one experience with the service department was very good so complaints on that end.

Could you define “the property”. Can a Hyundai dealer be in an attached building? Is it ok if they share service bays and tech? How far must other dealers be separated?

I will answer no to all of your yes/no questions. Other dealers would be separated by a block.

Lafayette, Santa Monica, and South Richmond will serve as the standard to qualify.

Take it that for GMA, a stand-alone to them is an all new build with the corporate architecture, so those in temp digs or places like Westlake (which has a different architecture style) don't fit their definition.

It’s a known fact that the preexisting dealership contracts between HMG and the existing Hyundai/Kia dealers in the US, extended beyond the release of the GV70, hamstringing them into buying out some, and playing the waiting game with the rest of the dealers that won’t sell their Genesis’ at MSRP.

Cut them slack, eggheads they are far from.

The physical address is correct at 411 Quincy Avenue in Braintree, MA. We are working on uploading photos of the temp location. It used to be an old car wash/gas station. Permanent facility will be 1/4 mile down the road due to be erected within a year and a half.

This info is for Canada, so not dealerships per se, but showrooms/experience centres.

Currently 4 up and running w/ 11 under construction and 6 in the planning stages.

Eventually all 30 Genesis distributorships will have a showroom/experience centre.

Like elsewhere, the Canadian market is seeing supply issues w/ buyers waiting months for their GV80s and GV70s (longer w as it on the GV70); this sudden increase in the # of b&m facilities may foretell increased supply, starting w/ the eGV70 which will enter production this year in Alabama.
