  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

List your problems since taking ownership

I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 AWD and I only have two irritating problems. First is the noise coming from the steering wheel when turning left or right it doesn't matter which directions. Second is the rattling sound on the passenger side door at 30MPH.

I have a metallic buzz when driving on certain bumpy and rough patches of road, I did take the door panels apart didn't see anything that would cause it pretty solid on how everything is mounted.

Is there any felt tape that can be used to silence the squeak/rattle on the passenger side?

1. Start to pull forward, rolling, turn the wheel, hit the gas STALL!

2. On the Highway, change lanes, hit the gas, STALL, SCREAM - A TRUCK IS ON MY ARSE NOW!

3. Turn the steering wheel some type of buzzing sound

4. Seats that are painful for a long ride (just the driver side with the extended leg)

My biggest complaint is the flutter noise when I start driving between 26-31 MPH coming from the drive shaft, other issues as follows
Tire noise and vibration when tires are cold or sitting for a few hours.
Window switches randomly become unresponsive, it will take 3-4 presses to get a window besides the drivers side down.
Trunk switch on dash randomly becomes unresponsive. Fast press long hold it doesn't matter some days it just wont work. Rear deck switch and key fob work just fine.
Sunroof will become quiet if left unopened for days until you use it then it creaks like crazy until a few more days of non use.
4x now my sound system has become unresponsive, cds play, phone is on but no sound or system warnings. You have to turn off the car and open and close the door before restarting the car to get sound back.
The navigation system is a joke. 80% of the time its not even close to recognizing what I am saying. My other Hyundai didn't have this issue.

Yes that Flutter Sound!!!! Only happens for me first thing in the morning then stops. So of course good luck getting the dealer to figure that out, they cannot even put the filter cover back on or put the correct amount of oil in the car.

4 times no start (dead battery). towed in once
1 body control module.
3 new battery's.
1 Radio
1 amplifier
2 blind spot camera's
Computer re-flash for camera's
41 days in dealer shop for repairs (Bought car 7/1/16) car has 4400 miles !
Dismal response from factory rep. Including NO CALL BACKS... Are you reading this "Rachel"
Condescending/arrogant "help" (insert sarcasm here) from Premium customer service center.
Rejection of request to buy back or refund "lemon" car. seeking a lemon law lawyer now-
No help from office of President other than getting "Rachel" to grace me with a return call
Other than that - I couldn't be more pleased if I were twins...
Hyundai - I now understand why you have such a strong warranty... YOU NEED IT!
I HAVE TO SAY - THIS IS ONE SHITTY CAR COMPANY!
NEVER AGAIN!

Why does a company selling $50k + cars not just call you back? I've spent a week on this over a dead battery and I'm convinced the "customer care" center doesn't have outbound phone lines.

I have had my Genesis 3 years 3 months it has 76,000 kms I enjoy the car and its been great I just have had a few annoying minor issues

BSD Cancelled - Dealer unable to replicate no repairs attempted
AEB Warning Light - Dealer unable to replicate no repairs attempted
Check Engine Light after idling for 15 mins at -20oC at airport (has happened twice resets on its own in a day or so. No error logged) - Dealer unable to replicate no repairs attempted.
Audio system changes source randomly while driving (suspect when turning steering wheel more than 180o) - Dealer unable to replicate no repairs attempted
Clunking sound from suspension when accelerating from start and with steering wheel turned left partial lock - Dealer unable to replicate no repairs attempted
Passenger Side HID headlight burnt out - dealer replaced under warranty
Sunroof fails to close automatically and re-opens. Have to hold the button all the time to close - Dealer unable to replicate no repairs attempted

If I could find a dealer who would attempt to resolve the issues I would be happy.....I am on dealer number 4 out of 5 in the closest city to me. They have two things in common, see above and they want to extract as much money from you as possible for unnecessary maintenance. Where Hyundai USA says inspect the in the maintenance schedule they want replace the fluid etc.. in the local dealers. ( I am ranting again)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
-My right roof trim came loose (strip next to the sunroof). It is held by a clip, double-sided tape and velcro. The dealership just re-taped it but never clipped in the clip. Now it's not flush. 😡
-My gas paddle clicks at the top of its travel.
-I have the annoying whine from 60-70mph.
-My BSM system triggers randomly sometimes.
-my AC sometimes goes warm even when set to LOW
-my adjustable side bolsters seem to be leaking? I'm fairly thin and set them to their tightest setting. A few minutes later, they've relaxed again. Also, isn't the bolster setting part of the saved seat settings? (I.e. position 1/2)

Ok that's it. I still love my car.

The whine from 60 to 70 may be the differential. My differential is on order for replacement under warranty.

I'd rant on that too. I was having my Sonata serviced some few years ago and was talking to the owner of a Santa Fe. She said she really liked the car but it was costly to maintain. The dealer had a service "menu" that they recommended. When I pointed out the service intervals in the owners manual she thanked me and was pissed at the dealer.

Video:

Info: Seems to originate from front Driver's Side, but I believe it is behind the engine/not the engine. It persists in Park, Drive, Reverse, Neutral, and is noticeable up to about 20 mph before it either disappears or the wind noise is louder. The rattling does occur at the same frequency as the RPM, so if I get it up to 2000 RPM it will rattle faster and faster. The rattling continues even after the car has been warmed up (be it minutes or hours of driving later). I have tried searching the forum, as well as the subreddit, and it doesn't seem like anybody else has had a comparable issue.

Background: Car has been making this sound for awhile now, but it doesn't seem to have gotten any louder in the last few thousand miles. Dealership wanted $250 to take it on a "Diagnostic Drive" even though this video is at idle, in park. After doing an oil change, they "could not replicate the issue". Currently at 51k miles. All work has been done by dealerships, it is a CPO but by the "could not replicate the issue" I'm not feeling incredibly trustworthy of the dealership's ability to diagnose the issue.

Potentially related: They also did not notice this problem, however it would've required driving it: Clicking Noise between 25-30ml on the road. . I don't think that this is part of the issue, no one else seems to mention both the flutter and the rattle, but figured I'd include it.

I'm due for an oil change in about a thousand miles, which I'll have done at the dealership, but it'd be nice to walk in there with some suggestions so they don't just hit me with the "can't replicate" bullshit again.

2016 3.8 bought used with 22k in Dec 2018

1- humming noise when coasting 40-50mph. Goes away on acceleration
2- headlight UV coating peeling along the top edges. Not excessive but hope it doesn't worsen
3- audio display was completely blank/unresponsive buttons for one ignition cycle at random
4- sunroof close issue. Has happened 3x so far
5- trunk does not seem to stay at full extension, still has a few inches of travel
6- lane departure system sometimes wants to correct even when I seem to be fairly centered in a lane

Purchased 2016 3.8 ultimate cpo with 28000 miles in 11/18. Now has 35k. Mild, intermittent rattle of sunroof. Tires were replaced when purchased, by dealer due to excessive wear. No other problems. I have had a 2009 Azera, 2013 Genesis, and currently also own a 2014 Santa Fe. All have gotten better mileage than advertised and have been bullet proof.
