  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

List your problems since taking ownership

In about two weeks I will have had my Genesis for a year. The only issue I've had was the rear A/C vent fan was not working when I took delivery. Repaired under warranty. No other issues or strange noises. The car has about 14,500 at the moment. Very pleased with the car so far.

To update after 4,200 miles:

Rain sensing wipers are more on a timer than a sensor. Even during heavy downpours they only swipe about every 30 seconds. Had the dealer check twice and they say it is normal.

Loss of power (with H-Trac) when turning and accelerating over rough pavement. Guess that is a design of the car.

Left rear window inoperative. Just discovered this as it has never been used before.

Drivers window stopped working normally but it fixed itself.

Clock sometimes stops when you turn off the engine. It resets after restarting the engine.

Two of the tires were out of round when I took delivery. Michelin paid to replace those two and I paid to upgrade the set to better tires.

The windshield was distorted when I took delivery and it was replaced under warranty.

The rotors were rusted when I took delivery and they were resurfaced under warranty.

I'm sure I forgetting a thing or two, but those are what comes to mind.

That is not normal for the wipers. In a heavy downpour, mine will go to high speed operation until the rain lets up!

I know that and you know that but my dealer doesn't.

If I were you, I would go test this on another car WITH THE SERVICE WRITER with a glass of water or water spray bottle. I know for a fact the Auto wipers work when the car is in Park as I have sprayed my windshield with them on and the wipers speed up quickly and then stop once dried.

BTW - I absolutely HATE Hyundai service. It is a joke.

I actually showed them a video and the SA agreed it was not right, but the tech said it was normal.

I too HATE Hyundai service. Probably won't buy another one.

Beyond infuriating - you should contact Genesis Customer Care @ 877-378-8727 and lodge a complaint. Be warned though, I just got off the phone with them about a BlueLink issue. My service wasn't connecting correctly via the app. I took it to my local dealer who was "looking into it"; they never got back to me. My BlueLink was due for a renewal so I let it lapse. I emailed Hyundai and they finally got back to me via email and said for me to call them to re-establish BlueLink service. I took that to mean they would offer complimentary service. Nope - they literally wanted to guide me through the self-enrollment on myhyundai.com. Unbelievable. I told them I was perfectly capable to do things online. They still wanted me to pay for the service which isn't working! I told them this is my last Hyundai and hung up

2015 Genesis 5.0 Problem I had is a Mark in the seat, a raddled in the drivers handle in side. and it was recalled for electric issued and tires prior to me buying it.

2015 3.8 H Track Ultimate
Aprox. 6000 miles now.
Purchased with 4000 miles. Now Certified Pre-Owned.
Service history showed fuel door replaced
No problems sense I have owned it.

I love this car so much, that on my way to bed each night, I stop by the door to the garage, open the door and say good night to "Bad Ass".

I agree regarding the 2G being a solid, great, awesome car. It's a 2015 5.0 Ultimate, owned new since July 2014 (2 years 2 months), have 19,100 miles. I need to get the recall new tires, but there is NOTHING wrong with these original Hanooks. Roof is making a slight rattle when headliner panel is retracted (saw where there is a updated repair part for that on this forum). I did have a freak fuel shut off issue only when flooring it, and when it hit the top RPM, it would not shift so it bucked and hesitated. Service folks tried it and it did the same with them, so they repaired some fuel line component.

Regardless, the 2G 2015 is great car -- when I leave it in the garage, I also give it a pet and tell the Genesis it's a Good Boy, as if it was a pet. Love the car. Regards

+1
I'd go back to the dealer and let then know you wanted to give them a chance to get it right before you call Hyundai corporate to let them know that your dealer cannot properly diagnose the wipers. In a heavy rain, auto will be exactly as fast as the fastest manual speed.

Great advice, I will do that.

Never tried it, but since a car-wash will activate the wipers if I forget to turn them off, I'm guessing a simple garden-hose would be enough to simulate a rain storm well enough to see if the rain sensor responds by speeding up the wipers.

Yes, it will. Sometimes I start my car then spray it off real quick (dust, etc...) before driving. The auto wipers absolutely come on with water from a garden hose; you can see it vary speed by changing the water spray over the sensor.

After driving it for over 6 months, this is what bothers me the most:
- delayed throttle response when needed
- dull and inconvenient media control. There is no 'return' button for navigating the media collections. I have to lean forward to the touchscreen and perform multiple actions for changing the album/song. I understand that the 'Dial Knob' is available in other packages, but I have Canadian model and the only one that has that here is 5-liter model.. 'Return' button should be mandatory
- Shift knob keeps pinching my ring finger
- Rear AC switch was replaced earlier, now have to replace Parking Break switch
- I do have rattle in the sunroof as well when it's open

1. noisy pano roof. dealership trip/fix #3 coming up in the next couple weeks
2. noisy front doors, over bumps and stuff. driver seal replaced (it was torn) fixed problem, passenger side now needs attention
3. rattling/creaking coming from steering column, couldn't duplicate last time. have video now and will get fixed next trip

Solid car, but the rattles really detract from the quality/ride

2016 Ultimate basically still brand new. Owned for 4 months with approx. 3800 miles. No issues here! :)

on my 4th genesis - a 09, 12, 16, 16 - why 2 16's you ask ok.
1st 16 rattled bounced and was generally tooooo noisy - it also had an annoying twitch in the steering wheel (could not reproduce so no fix) called hyundai corporate to get money back but they would not get involved other than offer discount(huge) on trade in and repurchase of another 16. so far this one only has rear window not working, noise from wind, i suspect because rear passenger side is not properly sealing - it is not completely closed - sticks out 1/16", rough riding, my biggest complaint is sun reflects directly into passenger and driver eyes from the dash. loved my 09 and 12 but will probably not purchase another.

Really? Mine blows cold and strong. I anticipate that the G2 will be one of the better cars I've ever owned for keeping me cool during the hot Texas summers.

Are your windows tinted? Just about everyone around here with any sense gets that. Also, since I rarely carry any rear seat passengers, I plan on leaving the rear side shades up along with using the auto rear shade for warmer sunny days.

I thought I was having an issue with not blowing cold enough, then realized that the vents were almost closed (with the little dial beneath the vent). My wife loves to close those things, hates a draft. The car has a tough time cooling the interior when you manually close them though. ;-)
