In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Loose Leather on Driver Seat

I know there have been many posts on this issue so I wanted to share my experience. I had my oil changed last week and mentioned how bad the leather looks on the seat. Without hesitation he said bring it back and leave it for the day and we will fix it. No questions asked. So in case you have the same issue your dealer should fix the problem.
Took the Genny in for annual inspection (state/emission stickers) last month (May 2013) and mentioned to the Service Manager about the seat cushion on the driver and passenger side are starting to stretch. After reviewing my claim, the Service Manager took Pictures and also provided a quick analysis that he can feel separation within the seat cushion. Month later, I was told that the area manager approved and both seat cushions will be ordered from Korea. This will take approximately one month before the parts arrive and the vehicle will get service by an upholstery specialist. What is probability that I am getting the same cushions and will have this problem again?
I was told a loaner vehicle will be provided and I have to pay a onetime fee of approximately $15 to cover the rental regardless of how long my vehicle is being serviced. In addition, the Service Manager stated I was the first to report this defect and refused to be proactive by checking other vehicles that were test driven and not sold. I mentioned that there were many complaints, data, and pictures to substantiate my concerns and his response was I should not concern myself with posting from forums. Ha-ha, got’em!

I would argue the $15. Loaner should be free for warranty work...

I took my 2012 R-spec to the dealer today for my loose seat leather, they had ordered a
replacement bottom cover and said to let the car set in the sun and it will tighten up, well time will tell???????????

Mine goes in Tuesday. A delay on my part. Will let everyone know.

Took mine in last Thursday to replace cushion. They pulled the car up after replacing and I opened to door to see a seat that looked worse than when I brought it in. The manager said it has to conform and would take a few days. Still looks like garbage. I will be taking back.

I would never use a dealer that did not give me a loaner at no charge whenever my vehicle is in there shop for any kind of service.

I bet the charge was taxes or insurance ....no biggie

They are fully reimbursed by Hyundai for all warranty work. The $15 is someone getting an extra $15 out of the deal.

Update. Here is a pic of the seat repaired by Butler Hyundai Indianapolis and their contracted trim guy. They did a nice job. Hyundai paid them for the work. After about one week, still no wrinkles.

I have a casual observation the cooling is not as strong as it was prior. However, I will continue to test.

They beefed up the leather and added some support in the seat. I was not able to watch them do it. I was out of town. I am sure they would have let me observe if I was there.

They also updated the flash and maps on the DIS. No problems. All good. They knew about having the right DVDs to use for my specific DIS model. And said they heard of other dealers bricking DIS by inserting the wrong media and flash.

AND the gave me a 2013 Equus to drive. Amazing car... Depending in biz, will try to pick up a Premium version for my company (at a good price). Keep the Genny.

They did a good job.

I took my 2013 Genesis in today for a few things including the driver's seat
leather being loose. They agreed to replace the whole seat no questions asked. I would venture that they have a service bulletin or something. I only have about 8400 miles on it in four months. I will let you know if there is any negative changes on this matter.

I am reasonably sure that dealers are not reimbursed by Hyundai for loaner cars during warranty repairs on a Genesis. Dealers are reimbursed for parts and labor, but at a lower labor rate than they would charge a customer for non-warranty work.

There is a cover over the lower back of the seat near the floor. It is held by elastic and a clip. Well, the came off and is dangling. I am sure the upholstery guy did nit get it set right. I got under there to see how it attaches. Could not figure that out. Did find out the seats have a air filter for the fan on the cooled seat.

I now have just over 1000 miles on my 2013 3.8L Premium. The seat is super uncomfortable - I get pain in my right butt no matter how I position the seat. The leather is very stretched out. The seat cushion itself also feels very soft, i.e. it offers almost no support. I have an appointment with the dealer service in a few weeks. Wish me luck!

I also bought a beaded seat cover. Even if the seat weren't so amazingly uncomfortable, I would want this to keep my off the leather in the hot weather. Hopefully it will also provide enough support to make me comfortable while I drive. Haven't tested it out yet other than putting it on in the garage.

Anyone else have any experience with seat covers that make this seat more comfortable?

Hi, on an earlier "H" -> 2009 Sonata, I found the seat uncomfortable..
I went into a Shoe Repair shop and had the guy make up a double thickness leather square (20x20) cost around $25.00. I pushed about a third thro the gap between the seat cushion & the backrest.. The leather afforded good support.
Another trick is to put a (thickness to suit You) piece of plywood under your floor mat, this will change you leg extension angle & may help in getting a comfortable seating position..
Apart from the Sonata All my "H"'s have had very comfortable seats..
The "G" is super comfortable.. Maybe Your seat had not been padded/put together properly, go sit in a few at the dealership...

I just took mine in to the dealer while working out adding the dimming driver's mirror and they said a couple things:

1. It's very common.
2. The problem is related to the seat cover being loose when it's sewn in place and the factory foam is weak.

Sent it out to a local shop they use and it's better than new. Slightly more cushion, perfectly smooth, and quick 2 hour turn around. I was told replacement seats are no different but Hyundai pays for this "fix" just as quickly, no questions asked.

I took in and they replaced leather and bolster. I still am not real pleased. I said I would address in 1000 miles when I bring in for 10K service. they said the problem was that Hyundai had complaints with older models have too hard of seats that were not comfortable and they tried to soften the seats which caused the problem.
