Low beam headlight adjustment

I don't think any car with the projector type bulbs is all that good. I have the LED on the 2018 and don't think they are anything to brag about. Even high beams suck on some roads. I can take you down a road in town that is dark, hill, twisting, and the lights really slow you down. Last really great headlights were on my '97 Buick LeSabre.
 
you can use a 8mm socket to adjust the headlights if you can't find a skinny long screwdriver.
 
I have adjusted by using lon skinny philips. Thing is mot sure if i set it too high or if its good.
 
Does raising low beam also raises high beam?? Now i can barely see the difference if my high beam is on or not
 
I think it was a couple of turns, but I'm not sure how well the screwdriver engaged the adjuster. Just using the eye, it is difficult to precisely determine where the beam cutoff occurs (and don't forget to block the light from the other headlight you are not adjusting). I found it helped to raise the beam by one turn and then lower one turn a couple of times to estimate how far the beam moved. On the driver's side, you can place a finger on the hex head on the back of the headlight assembly to feel what effect the screwdriver has. The passenger side requires small hands to get behind the headlight assembly, so I didn't bother.

If you don't want to mess with the beam height measurements at 25 feet, you could do a half turn, check how far away the beam hits the road, and repeat until satisfied. The only drawback is that the left and right beams might get out of sync. Then you might want to mask one headlight while you check the other. I'd probably do it that way if there were any dark, untraveled roads nearby. I use 80 mph as a standard because of all the cars I've owned, only the Genesis was scary at that speed.
I used the Harbor Freight "el cheapo" #1 (8") phillips and turned them both 3 full turns. I took it out for a test ride and they seemed fine. Next time I drove the car (2 days later) they were back in the too-low setting.(??) My car is the base G80; I think all the wires going to the headlight might indicate that mine are "self-leveling"(?) I thought only the high-end models had this. Any ideas on what gives.(??) Thanks in advance.

I don't think any 2015 had any sort of adaptive or leveling headlights which is weird.
 
What size screw driver head should I use? I tried with a #2 philips and it appeared not to fit in the socket.

A very long #1 Phillips does the job perfectly. If it is shorter than 8", it's difficult to turn while the handle rubs against the plastic shrouds around the headlight assembly. A #1 turns the gears smoothly. Good luck.
 
You need a long slim Phillips screwdriver. That white plastic tube is where you adjust the low beam cut off. You can't miss it. Insert your screw driver there and rotate. Make sure the car is level and there no weight on it

Thats right! I got my 2015 Signature package in December 2015 and beam cut off was awful, I have never seen them move or self level btw, but I took the long screw driver and fixed mine up a bit so now I can actually drive at night! I just bought Osram CBB D1S bulbas these will work great with my car.
 
I have a 2015 Signature package with HID's and I took it in for service for this issue, they told me they were in compliance with factory specs, makes me wonder unless they drive at 5mph in Korea at night, how can one drive when your low beam only extends to 15 feet max!
Anyway I got the long slim screw driver and adjusted them up to where they should be and fixed this issue that Genesis engineers were not able to do. I also got the Osram CBB D1s bulbs and they are fantastic. nicer 5500k,instead of the shitty 4100k oem, much brighter light out put.
 
+1. Got my 2015 Tech a few months ago. They were aimed too low. I adjusted mine with a long skinny flat screwdriver (apparently #1 philips is the way to go, but I didn't have one long enough) and they're good to go now. My 09 Tech with the auto-leveling was the same way. Considering I bought both cars CPO, I have to wonder how the previous owners drove at night?!
 
I’m curious to attempt this as well. I scoured this post to see if anyone had long term results on the adjustment. I have a 2017 Genesis G80 and my headlights are aimed way to low from the factory. I don’t exactly like driving at night. I called the dealer and they told me they can’t be changed.

Mine has the auto leveling headlights, I’ve seen them move just a touch when the car is turned on at night. Won’t the car just adjust the lights back down when I try to adjust the height with the screwdriver?

No, it's adjustment adds to the manual adjustment, it does not compensate for it. It knows if the car is leaning down by two degrees, to raise the headlights two degrees more relative to where-ever they are already aimed (via the manual adjustment).

I have HID and took it to the dealership last week for a few reasons but this was one..they said the project is bigger than most cars and beams more light, and mine was fine. I told them I'm blinding on coming traffic and he said ur level is good. Oh well..
