If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hello all!

As we patiently await the release of PN #16497 from Magnaflow Exhaust, which is now scheduled to release on June 5, I am just curious to see how many of us Genesis Owners are going to write the check!

For those who are scared of the $1G price tag...no worries! If you are smart and shop wisely, you can get it almost HALF PRICE! In fact, as mentioned on several different threads, at
http://www.performancepeddler.com you can purchase the complete system for around $532 Shipped...but you had better submit your offer QUICK to get the discount code!

Now...work overtime for one weekend and its paid for!!! HA!

Anywho, this is a stupid little thread that will be deleted before long, but I just want to know if I am the only one out here thats gonna give it a try!

Vote and comment!;)

No offense to manufacturers, but what they're offering is too loud for me.
Don't get me wrong, I do love loud exhausts and had aftermarket exhausts on my previous sports cars.
Genesis is a luxury sedan, or maybe a sports sedan, but not a muscle.
I was hoping for an exhaust system that has more of a european(?) tone to it, like the Brabus(Merc) or Dinan(BMW).
If someone were to offer a system that's not loud but has a subtle note to it, I might reconsider. But for now, no thanks.

I fully agree Dan.

I had really HIGH hope's for Borla to do just that...but even theirs is "muscle car" sounding...and expensive.

Magnaflow is half the price and yeah, a little loud for me too...however, I do not foresee any other exhaust manufacturers stepping up to the plate to offer such a system. The demand is not out there.

I figure as a "worst case scenario" I will keep the OEM system and if it is just too loud...or does not "fit" the type of car that the Genesis is...I will sell the Magnaflow on ebay and return the car to OEM Specs. I'll probably do pretty good on ebay, given the MSRP is nearly $1G and that their are a TON of Genesis owners out there who probably dont have a clue that this forum even exists! HA!

Anywho, Ill give a try and post some HD Vidoes on youtube.

I think I have convinced my wife that I am part of the Magnaflow R&D Team!!! ;) HA!

I agree, PingGolf. Not too many options for the Genesis sedan.
Borla is probably the most popular brand in the Corvette world. Very nice quality and exhaust sound.
I was also hoping for a subtle, sedan-like exhaust note from their offering, but it was a lil' too loud.

I wonder if removing the resonator in the mid-section of the exhaust will induce more noise. Just a thought.

Thats a GREAT thought and I almost did it!

I went to my exhaust guy and he said he could cut it out and insert an x-pipe for $75.

I almost did it, but knowing it was a "semi-permanent" job, my exhaust would never be the same.

So, here is my thinking...If the Magnaflow cat-back system is too loud...but tolerable, why not cut it open and add a couple of cheap resonators to tone it down a bit? I bet it would tone down the raspy muscle car sound but leave the deep rumble. However, the reverse effect could very well be some drone noise in the cabin...which will NOT make me too happy!

There again...just a thought. ;) We will see how well my wife likes it. HA! If she says its too much then I may add the resonators in place of the x-pipe.

Actually, that's a better idea.
Let us know if you decide to add more resonators into the magnaflow system.

I plan on buying a set from Performance Peddler, but their availability now says 10 June! Makes me wonder if anyone has actually ordered and received them yet. I'm also toying with the idea mentioned in a previous post about just buying the piece parts and having the local performance muffler shop do the pipework. I just need to get the time to go talk to the guys and get a quote.

They keep constantly pushing it back. I've had an order from PP for 3 months already, they won't push it into production because a lack of demand. Maybe sometime this month they'll finally launch it...

Ok...when I read your post...I got REALLLY frustrated and sent some hate mail to Magnaflow...which I usually would NEVER...EVER do.

Well...believe it or not...I got a reply within a few hours.

I'm not going to post my part of the email because it is rather embarrassing and does not show my true character as an individual. In fact, I really cant believe I sent it...HA! No cuss words were involved, BTW.

Here is his reply:

Hello,
I have been in contact this afternoon with my production manager and also forwarded your email. He has given me the guarantee that it will be done before 6-10-10. Thank you for your patience.

BTW...for those who really fear the system will void your warranty...no worries.

My poll option suggested that it would and was mis-leading. I apologize.

There is no way it would...or could. The O2 sensors are the last line of defense for your emissions and they are nested well in advance of where the cat-back system would be installed.

magnaflow exhaust sucks.. i want something that sounds like this

this is a beast

X 2

to me loud exhaust is like a set of typical Harley pipes, a lot of noise and notice, and neither are necessary.

UPDATE:

Magnaflow has retracted the 6-10 date to 6-8! Looks like we may actually have a product available this time!!!

That's good news, PING!

I know. I wish some manufacturers understand that there are customers interested in quiet(of course a lil' louder than stock), and refined systems.

I just got off the phone with Performance Peddler with questions regarding the shipping time for the exhaust system.

I was figuring a couple of weeks because I thought Magnaflow would send the kit to Performance Peddler and then they would ship it out to me.

Well, it just so happens Performance Peddler is less than a mile from Magnaflow. They said they travel multiple times a day to the Magnaflow center to pick up parts for shipping.

SO, there should be minimal to no shipping delays.

Great news.
So you already placed an order?
If you could provide us with some pics and a vid, that'd be great.
Thanks for the update, PING.

Got this response today: (the guys at peddler are the best in customer service!)

XXXX,

Production ETA is now showing 6/9. As soon as it becomes available we will pick up and ship the same day and forward you the tracking information via email. I’ve had a guy waiting on this kit since February and a couple other orders as well, so I’m all over this. As soon as it becomes available it will ship ASAP!

Thanks for your patience.
