  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello All,

I am currently doing some market research and your support would be extremely helpful.

If you are either an ES350 or Hyundai Genesis sedan owner, would you please complete this survey:

https://qtrial2015az1.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3L5DwlqDOP2wqWx

The survey is being hosted by Qualtrics, a reputable and safe survey hosting website much like Survey Monkey.

It should only take you a couple of minutes, and would provide invaluable input for my research.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you in advance,
Peter Anteater

The cars are not equal. The Genesis is rear drive or AWD in 2015. The Genesis offers a V8.

You make an excellent point, and I completely agree with you.
From a performance stand point, the vehicles are not equal. And, as a driving enthusiast, I would pick the Genesis any day.

However, the market as a whole does not necessarily agree. I know for a fact that Hyundai targets the ES350 as one of its direct competitors.

I would be interested to hear more about your thoughts. Would you be willing to complete the survey for me? :) Thanks!

Some guy was knocking on my door just this afternoon.

Maybe that was you!

I tried to take the survey, but I had a previous Genesis and it wasn't listed in previous models of Hyundais, thus not allowing me to progress through the survey. I thought I could contribute because I also owned an ES350.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

You're awesome!

Yeah, we're specifically looking for owners of recent model years to keep the comparison fair. But, my sincere thanks for your efforts.

I would compare it more against the ES450.

Wah?! 450??

Hard to compare against a non-existent car

Ok, ok, flying fingers got me on that one. Try the LS450/LS460.

Oh, got it.

While the LS450 might be a good comparison for the V8 Genesis, we are actually comparing the base model to the ES350. Those are quite comparable.

Did you take the survey?! :)

The way I see the, the Lexus 350 is not at all the same class of car as the Lexus 450, and I don't consider it a fair comparison to the Genesis. The Genesis V6 and V8 are very much the same car, one has a couple more cylinders and ponies under the hood. I would compare either Genesis against the Lexus 450. And btw, your survey isn't interested in me since I didn't buy my Genesis since 2013. :p

Just to simplify for you purists. If a car costs say $40,000, it "compares" to other $40,000 cars from a buyer's wallet standpoint. As a matter of fact, if I figure I have $40,000 to spend, I might shop a CUV versus an SUV, as well as a sedan.

Looking back, when I bought my '12 Genesis, the only other car in the final cut was a Lexus ES 350. I tried hard to prefer the Lexus, but it drove like an old Buick and had less features for the price than the Genesis. The Genesis looked like a Benz too. That was an added plus.

Good conversation.

Even if you don't get a chance to complete the survey (sorry, amartz!) this type of discussion is extremely helpful.

Thanks for your help, everybody!

I don't consider the ES350 a good comparison for any Genesis. There are many better comparisons out there. The ES350 is FWD only, the Genesis is RWD/AWD. The navigation/infotainment interface in the ES350 is horrible. There is nothing I see in the ES350 that would make it stand out in any category.

An Infiniti Q50 would be a much better comparison.

I did complete the survey.

Typically the GS is compared to the Gen2, although I personally think the v8 is a good alternative to the LS460.

I have fixed the link.
Please try again.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Completed the survey. Will you share your results later, very interested in the survey as I used to work at Edmunds, maybe an abridged summary?
