  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Market Research: ES 350 vs Hyundai Genesis

Tried to complete the survey, can't complete it while staying 100% honest. It asks "is this your first Hyundai?" and since I answered no, it gave me a list of OTHER Hyundai models. My first was a 2012 Genesis and now I have a 2015 Genesis. I have not owned any other Hyundai models.

I left it. Let me know if the survey gets modified and I'll resume / do it again.

I don't consider the ES350 a good comparison for any Genesis

+1 Size of the vehicle, size of wheels, interior size, options, etc, etc, etc. No comparison what-so-ever. Except maybe price. Which if that's your only criteria, you need to have your head examined! :o

I leased a 2013 ES350 for 3 years. My options at the end of the lease were to get 2016 ES350, a 2016 GS350, or a 2015 Genesis.

The ES350 compares very well to the Genesis as much as the GS350, but the GS is much closer since it's RWD. I would say the interior of the ES is very close to the Genesis in size and luxury. I wanted RWD so a new ES was out of the question. Very soft and comfy car, but very boring to drive. The GS was a definite contender, but the Genesis had more options, more power, and less price! Plus, the Genesis is much better looking.

I prefer German cars over Japan cars. The newest Genesis was designed by someone who came from designing german cars, and you can see it. Most people don't believe me when i tell them i'm driving a Korean car.

I'm a little short on time so if this has already been mentioned - please forgive me.

The Genesis Sedan competes with the Lexus GS350 (yes, I know - no V8) - not the LS460. The Equus competes with the LS460.

The Hyundai Azera (and Kia Cadenza) compete with the Lexus ES as front wheel drive entry-level luxury sedans.

I followed a Lexus today on I95 that I believe is the better match for the 3.8 Genesis sedan, and that would be the Lexus GS350. On the road, it looked like a match for the V6 Genesis, and after looking up the specs (RWD/AWD, 3.5L V6, 306hp) I think it probably fits well. Didn't even try to find the price. So, I think we'd have the GS3350 vs. the 3.8 Genesis sedan, the Lexus LS450 vs. the Genesis 5.0 sedan, and the Lexus LS460 vs. the Equus.

VERY expensive. Outstanding in every aspect. Smaller than G1 & G2.
Below the LS460 is the best of Lexus in the luxury segment.

Just mentioning that there is no Lexus LS450. The Lexus LS is a lot of car and, in my humble opinion, a good step above the Genesis in every aspect. It's an S-Class competitor - which the Genesis is really not...

Perfect!

LS460 & S500 are the top of the top. BMW 740 is theoretically in the same range but IMHO is not in the same league.

Imagine Auto Trader's surprise when you tell them that! :-)

That's the LX450. There is no LS450. The LX450 is a full size SUV.

Well, when you're in a hole, quit diggin'. I still think the ES350 is a better match for the Azera than the Genesis.

I also agree The Azera is a better match :)

Completed the survey. For full disclosure, I despise Toyota/Lexus, so they were never even on my radar.

Any and all cars in the price range were in my window outside some brands (like Lexus). I even test drove a Mustang.

I agree as well. The Genesis competes with the GS350 and I can even understand why some people will compare it to the LS460 - though it falls short in most areas. Still, it's far ahead of the ES350. Leave that to the Azera (or Cadenza).

I wonder how well the Equus stacks up against the LS460?

The LS460 wins... but at a HUGE price difference.
Mainly now that Equus are so discounted.
