  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My lowered genesis sedan *pics*

Just go to the dealer and test drive a non Rspec, that is what I concider soft ;)

I own the 2012 3.8 sedan tech after owning a 2010 3.8 sedan...and the only reason I bought the '12 was that the suspension was "eased". There was a campaign by Hyundai to inform anyone interested that Hyundai listened to the reviews of 2009 thru 2011 sedans and realized that a change HAD to be made to the suspension. I was so fed up with the non compliant ride of my 2010 that I sold it and much, much to early for me to win the cost/value/length of ownership game. I had test driven both the Lexus E350 and Mercedes anticipating buying one of these vehicles. A test drive of the 2012 was a very pleasant suprise...Hyundai had relaxed the suspension. I know that some prefer vehicles on the firm side but I can't believe that most people want the ride of a stiff, lowered vehicle. In an effort to ease the ride of my 2010 I bought Michelin tires after only 7K miles. It is obvious to me that one can either have a very "sporty" ride or a comfortable ride. I could not abide the R-spec sedan. It's just not for me.

I drove a Toyota Avalon prior to buying my first Hyundai Genesis. Now the Avalon has a soft ride! It's silly to make any judgment as to which ride is "best". If you like a firm ride then the Genesis (and more so the R-Spec) is the car for you. If you want to float on a cloud as you motor down the highway then the Genesis is not your car. Driving down the highway on a long drive in my old Avalon was a joy! I love my Genesis and its drive characteristics and driving thru the "twisties" is much more fun than with the Avalon. This ride thing all depends on what YOU like most.

I'm with you Seattle! That guy who used ARK supplied lowering springs says just the opposite but if you read the ARK website the manufacturer reports that the springs are firmer...yes firmer! I find my 2012 3.8 just right (may have a lot to do with the "passenger grade" Michelins). My Genie is in the shop for that intermittent DEAD audio bug and they loaned me a Sonata to drive (2012 2.0 turbo) and while the ride is certainly less firm than my Genesis the Sonata still handles bumps/road interruptions the same way as my/our Genesis with a big thud (rode in a KIA van and yes also very similar)...I think Hyundai suspensions across the board are similary designed to handle (or not handle) the big changes in a similar manner....now if ARK designs a progressive spring without lowering (I have NO DESIRE FOR THAT) then I would try it...just for shits and giggles.

the GT-S springs from ARK ARE firmer, but they are also
p r o g r e s s i v e so the springs actually are compliant over the small ( most) bumps in the road.

If your low, your low there are no: two, if, but, or and's about it. You've got to be diligent about how you drive, park, etc. The springs really shine when I'm pushing the corners or slalom. The car is quicker, more nimble, and positively more predictable.

I really would like to take a ride in someone's Genesis that considers it to be a "soft" ride. Any one in the pacific northwest area? Heck, I'd drive half way across the country for this.

come to san diego, it's warm!

I stand by my statement of it depends on your definition as I think the Genesis sedan has a very soft comfy ride from the factory, but I didn't come from a Big body Lexus or anything like that. Im used to being slammed on coilovers and air ride. Everyone has a different definiton of a "stiff ride" ;) For reference my other car:

Yes I bet Katy Morgan has an entirely DIFFERENT definition of "STIFF RIDE"! LOve the coupe BTW.....

Few " adjustement " ;)

I have to Agree with Kamkaze i have the 3.8 Tech and it is a nice soft ride but like him my other ride is not slammed yet but lowered and even from factory was a lot stiffer than my sedan is, again i too have not come from a big body lexus or a mercedes

Deff keep us up to date with any and all info on your bag over coil setup. If you still have your factory struts and would like to help out the aftermaket world for our car and would be willing to donate your struts this would be great!! I have a contact who is willing to fab up struts for us.

I like how you dialed it in w/ the last round of adjustments Ri0uxx ...

Are you thinking of going w/ a AirRex like system for the bagged coil system ?

I'll have to give Jav @ Vossen a call and see what the approx weight differences between your 082's and my CV1s are..I'm just trying to put things together before I pull the trigger on my future Genny and whether or not to sell the CV1's prior or see how they look (i think they go better on slammed coupes, but who knows..I could be surprised).

looks great, funny how you joined the vsc forum and i found you on this one.

What's VSC ?

hey yes my management is a AIr REx digital management as you can see.

tonight we install the front bags

VSC stands for VIP Style Cars.... and congrats on the air ride... can't wait to see more pics. Also what did you end up doing? Bags over coils?

only the management is plugged..

we doin a bag over coilovers.

but i cant post on this forum :S why

Really need to see photos of the hole set up as far as the bag over coil and what rear bag set up your running. reason being is I have someone interested in building an air set up for our cars but because he cant get his hands on a loner car for mock up and by looking at photos he feels that they would rub. So any and all specs and pics would really help.

Jason,

I have my stock springs and struts your guy can borrow. PM me and lets talk.

you cant build a complete bag set up with only the strut...

the OEM top mount is hard to make " fit " with bags .

are the braket ( front and rear ) are totally custom.

looking forward to seeing this completed ;) props for being the first in the states I have seen.

I heard of a company Air force. ect.

Next are bags on mine too.
