If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All,

I am quite sure of my next and close to final mod for this car. I will be taking (probably) 2 of these: http://www.oznium.com/tri-chip-led-tube in 20" and be hooking them up as my 3rd brake light.

I will make this "Bentley Style" third brake light for the genesis...should be pretty easy I think (fatal last words).

I will probably tie this into the socket for the stock 3rd brake light or just tap into the stock brake lights on either side. I am not sure about that part yet.

When finished, it should look similar to this:

Except with a nice car....

Any opinions on where to tap this into, let me know. I like challenges, but not too much of a challenge lol. Also, how do I remove the bulb from the stock third brake light? I really haven't poked around with that yet.

TIA

OFG

If the LED length was no more (AT MOST!!) than half the size on the car pic you posted, then I don't think it would be "ghettoish"

I'd tap into the stock 3rd brake light. The light can be removed starting from underneath the rear deck, but 1st remove the cover. Under the cover you should find the harness and maybe 1 nut to remove the light.

Going for this?

^ Image is dead, FYI.

And I looking into getting into that third brake light and it isn't as easy as I would have hoped. I might be scrapping this project after all :/

Weird, the image shows up on my screen? Anyone else not seeing the image??

I was also trying to go for that look a month ago after seeing it on couple of Audis...but i just didn't want to have that gap left on the original 3rd brake light spot... :/ unless there is a way to cover it nicely or shave it somehow...haha

Also are you going for the blue license plate lights aswell? I had it in mine couple of weeks a go since it came with some interior lights....but i took them out because i heard you get pulled over like a b*tch...! lol

I have hyper white LED's in the license plate lights similar to this:

As to the OEM third brake light...I was just going to take the bulb out and leave the bish there....

haha okay! well let me know how it comes along....are you working on it or not anymore?? I'm gonna ask this guy who sort of does car modifications...I'm sure it's doable somehow but pricey

And yeah i also got the white colored LED for the license plate...but somehow the blue didn't look too bad :P

This is a cheap mod (third brake light) but I feel it will be complicated to get wired up because of how well the harnesses are hidden in this car :/. Im not sure. I might maul this over all winter

The Oldsmobile Aurora was (I think) the first car with the long across the top back windshield brake light. I loved the way that looked on that particular car. Audi did it right too....

I like the idea of your aftermarket setup but I think I would like it more if the LED's were a little smaller.

I'd never waste my time or money for that stop light mod. But smaller bulbs are definitely better loooking than the larger ones in the picture.
