  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've used Acura's nav system for 8 years, and it's also in my wife's Accord. Easy to use. Not so the one in my 2010 Tech package. I don't care about some things that have been mentioned on this forum. E.g., I don't like a touch screen, and the road detail disappearing at 0.25 mi scale doesn't bother me. But using the Address Book is a disaster. For example:

The biggest problem with the system is that it keys off of street name first. Today, armed with the street address and city of a destination I needed to get to, I entered the street name, only to find at least 5 variations of the street name, including no suffix, suffix, and suffix with 3 ordinal directions. Only after entering the name and selecting each one did I find the house numbers out of range.

The worst thing is that hitting the back button does not go back to the search result list but rather to the blank street name entry. It's like Russian roulette.

As mk1 noted, "I always use the voice commands. Easier and you can start with the city vs. having to start with the street. "

Yes, voice commands easily find your destination, but the resulting screen doesn't allow you to put it in the Address Book. You have to Start Route Guidance to set it as a destination, then go through the process of adding a previous destination to the Address Book.

NEXT BIG ADDRESS BOOK PROBLEM, which is driving me nuts. I can find NO WAY to delete an address from the book. On p 224 are instructions for "Deleting a single destination ... in the category Address List." Following them, I do Nav menu > Edit Address Book > Address List > highlight a destination > Push the controller > SCREECHING HALT! :mad: THERE IS NO OPTIONS MENU! :confused: Only the screen that gives the destination's Name/Icon/Position/Phone number. And of course without the Options menu, none of the p. 225 options Show on Map/Delete/Delete All are available. I am forced to consider that at least one (maybe all) of the following conclusions are true:

1) I don't know what I am doing;
2) The manual is wrong;
3) There really is no way to delete an address from the Address Book.

HELP!

Yes, there is a way to delete an address. You just have to play with the system to find the way. I deleted two addresses within the past week. Can't remember just how I did it, however you mentioned that you pushed the contoller in, and if I remember correctly, I think I had to push the controller to the side, not in, to get the "delete" option. Not sure about that, as I really can't remember, however if you play with the system, you will find the way to do it.

I delete items from my address book often, it is listed in the owners manual how to do it....very easy.....

Are you talking about deleting an address before you get to your destination?

If so, you have to navigate to the Navi/Menu, then click "Change Destination", then click to the right and select "Delete".

Please read my initial post again. The owners manual description does not work. They describe a menu that does not exist in my system.

No. I am talking about an address in the Address List of the Address Book. I want to remove it from the list.

It turns out that conclusion 1) above is the correct one. ctrcbob and RonP are both right. I just didn't read the manual correctly. Where it said "Push => the controller" I didn't interpret it as "Push right the controller". Maybe had it said "Push the controller =>" I might have, but then who knows. I just hope it's my only nitwit moment of the week.

U can delete a destination from u'r adress book, very easy. Choose wich one u want to delete and then on the right side u are going to see an arrow(very small), move the controller to the right and u will see the delete option.hope this helps

I, too, have cursed the Nav system's non-intuitive entry sequence requirements. I spoke with NavTec and they confirmed an update, pending release by Hyundai corporate. Does anyone know if the (supposedly now available) navigation software update is really available? Also, is it an update for all systems (2009/2010, as well as V6 and V8) or just for certain models. Also, is it just a general "map" update, and not an operation update, or is that included as well?

While I'd be pleasantly surprised if there was a software update to the GPS, I'd be willing to bet that it's just a map data update to add new roads and correct map errors. I'd also bet that the same update will work for the Tech package on either engine of either year of the sedan--they use the exact same Lexicon system.

EDIT: To be picky, NAVTEQ is the supplier of the map data. Map&Soft is the one who actually incorporates that data into the GPS systems that Hyundai/Kia uses, and they are a company in the Hyundai Automotive Group.

I spoke at length with Hyundai Corporate. Hey informed me that an update was to be released in Dec., postponed until Jan., and then postponed again. She said that I need to contact MapnSoft/NavTec at 888-757-0010. Upon doing that, I was told that the system is actually made by LG.. (It isn't.) I re-called MnS, and they told me to call the dealership. (Unfortunately, I know more about my car than they do.) So, back to square one. MnS did tell me that the update will just be a "map" update, and not a software one. :OP
