  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Navigation system software update

Edit: Now it links to M&Soft. I think the map update might take a while. May not be until early next year. Eventually they'll announce it and notify all owners for the new maps.

M&Soft still says another 2-3 months. Report any discrepancies to Navteq and not M&Soft. Navteq has a great error reporting tool that's quite nice. All Genesis' use map data thats from 2007. They use Navteq map data and compile it for the owners to buy.

2-3 months has been there standard answer since March. Hopefully soon

Hyundai contacted MapNsoft for me yesterday, and they are promising a navi update by the end of the year. The Hyundai rep said, "That's only 9 days away"!. The MapNsoft rep said, "We know that!"

Let's see what happens or if anyone as any more insight.:)

Resonse: Navigation system software update

And I have written snail-mail letters to Hyundai USA President, CEO, and VP of Marketing explaining that the lack of an update is a huge embarassment to us Genesis owners.
No answers. No comments. Not even 2-3 months.
I am a REALTOR with people in (who love the care\) and out (those who wonder why a 5 year old address isn't on the NAV).
NOTE Hyundai Genesis- This is fast-becoming a deal breaker for this Genesis owner.

That pretty much answers the question as to whether the update is going to change any functionality or just update the map database. It would have been nice if some of the nagging problems with the GPS software were addressed, especially the poor address entry, but that undoubtedly would mean that Hyundai or Harmon would need to be involved in the update, which clearly they're not. :(

I thought you Avatar says "Doesn't own one yet" But post signed, "this Genesis owner?" What ever, I agree that the Hyundai organization is exemplary in not responding to anything much less being pro active.

Has anyone noticed that the last item added to Mapnsoft's News & Update scroller on their homepage is almost a year old? And that their copyright date at the page bottom is still 2007? I think we can expect not to expect much from these guys...ever. This is a big disappoint for me and many. Will definitely affect my future buying decisions.

At this rate it will probably be the ONLY update we will EVER see for the Genesis during the average time you own your car. Savor it when it comes....

The delay in updating the maps is really the one and only disappointment I have had after 6 months with my Genesis. Hyundai needs to get on the ball with after-sale service to folks who buy this level of vehicle.

For those of you wanting/waiting for a Navigation update for the Tech package, I received mine yesterday and now have map data version 3.0 dated 08/2009!

you recieved the update from M&S? or Hyundai?

smhirsch, I'm puzzled. I came up with the same search results Crupp did. Where/who did you obtain this Genesis map update from?

Via his dealer...he describes the update in another thread.

I did receive the update from my dealer, and made it very clear that I should receive it at no charge/under warranty since I noticed the 2008 map data at the time of delivery and though it was ridiculous that the maps would be so grossly outdated.

According to my salesman, the updates "became available" the week of February 8th to their service manager, and he had them in-hand by the 11th.

It's a 3 DVD set and takes approximately 3 hours to upgrade.

My dealer called me to advise the update was ready, but that he had to request a disc from Hyundai.
1. What was the cost?
2. How long did the update take to install?
3. Did you lose your phonebook and addressbook information?
4. Have you seen any visual differences or anything new?

1. Did you install the upgrade yourself, or did you have the dealer do it?

2. Did you have to remove all the CD's before you could upgrade. Also, do you have to install the DVD's in the CD slot? Does the screen give you instructions on what needs to be done?

3. Because you purchased the DVD's, you do get to keep them, right?
If so, what prevents you (or anyone) from updating someone elses car with the set, as the DVD's do not stay in the car, but is only there to update the internal disc, or whatever you call it.

Before I bought my car, I was always under the impression that the dealer service department would have the updated disc (when available) and that the dealer would use their own disc, not a disc owned by the car owner.

Three hours to update is crazy. My previous car had a touch screen unit and all I had to do was to remove the old disc, and insert the new disc that I purchased for $150.00. Took all of two minutes.

Don't forget to let us know if you lost any information, phone numbers, address, radio pre-sets, etc.

Tell us how it works!
