If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a new (dealer demo) 2013 fully loaded Genesis sedan with the v6 engine with only 5k miles. I would like to ask for ideas on making the ride softer and less jittery on the uneven/crappy roads for the snowy areas of upstate NY.
I am all about comfort as I have a really bad back and I have found the Genesis seats the most comfortable I could afford. The vehicle has pretty good Michelin tires on it. I cannot do the work myself, but I'd be willing to have a mechanic make some changes. Can you offer specific suggestions on what to replace to give car the softest, smoothest ride so I don't feel every bump and uneven road surface?

Only options I know about are:The 2012-2014 Genesis (except for R-Spec) has a much softer ride than the 2009-2011, and not many people complain about it. But the Genesis is not designed to have a soft cushy ride like some other cars.

+1 for putting on a set of "comfort" tires. I put on Continental PureContacts last November and that definitely softened up the ride a bit while tremendously improving wet/snow traction. The tires also feature Continental's "EcoPlus" technology for lower rolling resistance and while not a huge difference, my mileage may have gone up +1mpg on long haul highway rides (day-to-day driving I see no difference). The Conti PureContacts are excellent "grand touring" all-season tires. My car was CPO and came with a set of Hankook Ventus ES V4s...they were excellent dry traction, but only mediocre in rain and snow. The Hankooks had a stiff sidewall which did nothing for the shortcomings of the early model Genny's suspension. The Contis are visibly "softer", the sidewalls squish down quite a bit more than the Hankooks, but this helps the suspension soak up the harsher bumps. The Contis are definitely not sport tires though, they're not bad, but I had to make a quick turn last week because a highway on ramp was reconfigured overnight and I didn't realize they moved it up the road, so I hit the breaks and made a hard 90 and the tires certainly squealed in protest;) I live in North NJ, so my roads are similarly crap to yours:)

The Contis are also one of the few non-sport tires in this size and they have a 70k warranty. I've put about 20k on them, and they still look new so I'm hopeful they last at least 70k. A lot of the tires in this size don't seem to last much more than 30-40k. My Hankooks only lasted 37k of mostly sedate highway commuting.

I agree with snork. I also have the purecontacts and noticed the ride is a little more 'forgiving'. I too have an early 2009. The around town mpg didn't change much but highway did go up slightly over the stock dunlops. If I am able to keep the cruise on at 75 mph, I can get about 28-29 mpg. -also here in north eastern NJ. This weekend I took my family down to Hershey. Down and back with some around town driving and used less than 3/4 tank. If we continued a longer trip, I would have gotten over 550 miles on a tank. I'm satisified.

Garcia Factory in Korea probably knows more than anyone about Genesis suspension mods. They are active here on the forum as well.

Haven't seen user GarciaFactoryUS post in a while, heard that his car was totaled few months back which is a bummer. Gunkk is right about them being most knowledgeable shop on the Genesis Sedan (suspension, body kits, exhaust, etc). They offer a coilover the I-One.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The KDM market Genesis has the softer ride by design, one ought to be able to find a Korean dealer that can source the KDM OEM suspension parts. ...or Ebay...

(hint: try emailing Garcia Factory from their Korean website)

Bought a '14 Santa Fe Sport for the wife a few days ago. The dealer had the tires set at 43 PSI, 8 pounds above recommended pressure. I tried to explain to the salesman that a hard ride could be a turnoff to prospective buyers.

factory tires 2013 base genesis sedan

Can someone tell me what brand of tire the base 2013 Sedan comes with?
thanks

My 2013 came with Michelin Energy tires.

I've checked a few other same-generation cars I've seen and they came with these as well.
