  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New 2010 v6 sedan owner

So far the dealership states I have already 1k in parts alone to replace. They haven't been able to reproduce the seat belt nor security light issues. At this rate in a little over a year and under 30k miles this car will have had a little under half its current value in work done on the car both under warranty and out of warranty. I informed them to have the tech drive the car home a couple days to see if he can reproduce the security light and seat belt issue.

Driver side door handle
Both Dome lights
Driver side power seat switch and motors.

I've owned 17 cars include 2 BMWs and 2 MB. My 2010 Genesis V6 doesn't handle quite as well as my Bimmers but the is by the best value for the money. When I bought it new Jan 2010 it wouldn't go in an inch of snow. The stock Dunlap M5000 were junk. Stiff sidewalss made ride stiff and many complaints they wore out in 15-20,000 miles. So I immediately replaced the Dunlaps with Conti DWS. Little louder than I prefer but terrific handling and snow traction. The Conti's wore out in 40k so just put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3. Consumer Reports rated highest rated ultra high performance. Very quiet and nice ride. CR rated very good in snow but Snow is unknown at this point. Only 2 problems.....
1. The rear end was misaligned at the factory and wore out my Conti DWS 10-15,000 before they otherwise would have. So I bought the Michelins and the dealer installed and will balance them when needed for life of tire.
2. The biggest problem is that the A/C has NEVER worked right. Dealer said "That just the way it's designed." Finally this past summer wouldn't cool once ambient air temp got to 85. Dealer agreed to fix summer 2014.

Other than these 2 things I love my G.

gzfraud, Don't get me wrong I like my genesis but long term reliability to me isn't looking so great when it comes to electrical side. The dealer just replaced multiple items in on the car so hopefully that’s the last of my issues but I kind of doubt that. They were unable to reproduce two of the issues and I’m sure those will pop back up once my extended warranty is up. This one repair ended up costing close to 2 grand but thankfully I only had a $200 deductible from my 3rd party warranty.

I no longer have the Genesis the car was proving to be a safety hazard to me and my family. The brakes for were failing for the 2nd time and the transmission would slam into gear about once a month. I've had way too many issues with this car And I'm glad to be out of it.

What did you end up buying? Lots of good deals on MY2013 and 2014 if you want to go new with another Genesis...

Edit: We were looking into a fully loaded santa fe sport but after less then subpar service we left and went back to a mazda. The local hyundai dealers were not even going to give me rough trade in value on a car that is in good condition. I got offered 9k and 11k trade (two different dealers) in on a car that books for 15.5k on trade in.

I ended up picking up a 2015 Mazda CX5 with the touring package. I wish i wasn't upside down in the genesis so i could of gotten a GT with more options. Mazda gave me 16k for it on trade in with out the need to haggle to get that, and a few discounts off the mazda. The two cars don't really compare to each other.

The CX5 has features the Genesis didn't but it is also lacking in a few areas that the genesis had. The cx5 isn't leather, doesnt have power seats, and doesn't have a passenger seat thats powered (wish I would of realised that before signing papers. However it has blind spot detections and a backup camera. Also the CX5 holds its value way better then the Genesis by a long shot. It was almost cheap to buy new instead of a 2013 or 14 model with a few miles.
