I take it personally when someone bashes the car I own or its dealers on whatever level because it is comments like that that make a reputation and affect the future value of my car.....
This is an incredibly weak argument. If the Hyundai dealer experience is, on average, much worse than comparable "luxury" brands, or even other "near luxury" brands, then that knowledge will get around anyway, whether they discuss it on this board or not, and that will damage the reputation and value of your car. It's also not bashing to actually describe your experience.
Don't get me wrong ImInPA buddy.... you have every right to say what you want as much as I have the right to tell you to keep it to yourself........ What I am saying is ...... go to the VOLVOOWNERS site.... and complain about the Hyundai Dealers there.... would seem to make more sense.........
No, that would make less sense. ImInPA was a prospective owner that basically was turned off by a poor dealer experience. That likely means that this dealer is turning off other customers that won't bother to say anything publicly, but will tell their friends who might show any interest in a Genesis. The dealers actions cause far more damage to the "reputation" and thus "future value" of your car than anything a single person can say on a forum.
I'm also quite sure that Hyundai Owners who are having a problem with there dealers are passing that info on to Hyundai without the need to do it here
Perhaps they do, but prospective owners, and owners who selected other vehicles due to the dealer, are probably more important to hear from. They represent lost revenue opportunities for Hyundai, and those lost customers will likely pass on their less than acceptable experience to others, and that has significant drag on the value of the car and the status of owning a Genesis.
It's quite obvious that Hyundai understands this whether you do or not. My dealer made it very clear that Hyundai was placing a significant emphasis on the dealer experience and that I would be receiving follow up calls from Hyundai regarding my sales experience and anything less than perfect was not acceptable. They made sure I was satisfied at every step and I've received three calls from Hyundai regarding my experience, a call just a few days after purchase, a call a few weeks later, and, most recently, a followup to verify that the dealer service was going well and that the dealer had followed up with me and was making sure I was totally satisfied.
While the dealer I actually purchased from would never be confused for a Lexus or BMW experience, they offered a relaxing, practical purchasing experience in professional environment. They offered snacks, coffee, and soda during the negotiating experience and played no "numbers games". They have followed up several time since, always asking if I'm completely satisfied. When I brought the car in for normal maintenance they've been excellent (quick service while I waited with WiFi access in the waiting room so I could do some work).
Also, I don't think that ImInPA did "bash" the car or the dealer, or Hyundai, he simply stated his experience, and, as an owner, I'm interested in it. If you are not then simply don't read about it, although that seems to be a concept people on this forum don't seem to get. If this forum is supposed to be some type of sterile environment where people are only to say good things about Hyundai and the Genesis then I might as well just join the Hyundai sponsored forum. I come hear to read about honest opinions of Hyundai and the Genesis, including their dealer experience, good or bad. So far I haven't seen anything from the moderators of this forum that indicate criticisms are off limits so that's why I'm still here.
As far as whether members of other forums "bash" the vehicles they own, well, I don't know about Volvo owners, but I have a BMW owning friend who spends much time on some BMW forums and there is far more "bashing" on that forum than I've seen here. Of course they call it being "discerning" about the flaws of their vehicle or their dealer. I think that's part of being in the luxury market, and Hyundai is trying to play there with the Genesis, so criticism is going to come.
