  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Genesis R-429 hp

"the Genesis 3.8-liter Lambda engine will receive direct injection (GDI) technology, boosting its output 15 percent from 290 to 333 horsepower, an impressive gain of 43 horsepower with no increase in displacement"

Can I add direct injection to my 2011 Genesis?

This is exactly what I am looking for from the next Genesis...

No mention of traction control defeat....

When will they be available for demo?... if this is as good as I think it will be I have to trade in the 09.

I agree with the "young and stupid speeding" stuff, sure. But I'm not young. And I'm not irresponsible. I've gotten one ticket in my life (going 70 on the highway) and that was 18 years ago...

But, to get back on topic, this car is just phenomenal. Who cares about how fast it is? I'll never take it above 100mph... but man, isn't it nice to KNOW you could?

Hyundai Genesis R-spec for president.

I'm SO in. I was thinking EQUUS in 2015, but may need to rethink that. I like my 2010 4.6 a lot but I love that 5.0 idea. Now if it has handling to match that ridiculous power....The Genesis may be able to blow the doors off my 2007 Acura TL type S but that little Acura could outhandle any car I've ever owned.

My thinking exactly. I'll be waiting for them to hit the dealerships so I can try one out.

429 hp? I am coming to the realization that the 385 hp in my two month old 2011 is overkill enough. I have to go extremely light on the gas coming off a red light or the back end fishtails and ESC kicks in.

Wondering if the R-Spec has staggered wheels like the EQUUS- wider tread in the rear- it should.
Noticed the '12 has rid the green light headlight indicators for the white electrolumenecent
light.

I LOVE this idea. It more closely attacks the german competition where they live. The interior changes also address a desire for a younger look.

How did Interior change?
Howfully R wont command too much premium pricing...

I would not hold my breath on a 2012 4.6 staying at $43800. In an interview Krafcik stated that there would be a price increase to between $45k and $50k. I am betting a 4.6 with all the new features will be 45k to 46.5k and the 5.0 R spec will come in at 48k to 49k both plus destination. Even at these prices they will be well below current competition in price and more in size and features. I think this will stabilize used values as some of the depreciation will be the price increases. After all, why pay much for a used 2009 when the new 2011 cost the same. I also see Hyundai winding down incentives as they seem to be selling all they can make with the lowest per vehicle incentive rate in the industry.

I keep reviewing and $50K for a sport edition that lacks a few key components.

1. Paddle shifters? Come on! Even the Sonata Turbo even SE has them.
2. Staggered wheels- EQUUS lux has them- but not the sports sedan?
3. Lux, non-supported seats. Needs side bolsters.
4. R-Spec embroidered floor mats....woohoo! No seat embroidery? Again EQUUS letters spelled on their seats.
5. Aluminum gas, brake and foot rest.
6. Flame paint job....kidding.

Could a moderator please delete all the insulting posts from this thread and remind the offenders of forum policies. There is enough confrontational non-productive discussion on the world stage without having to listen to it here.
Thank you.

1. Not a fan but I see how they should be added, remember this isn't a double clutch tranny....

2. not sure what this is an issue. put the right meat on the wheels.. size shouldn't matter...

3. Agreed, if the fronts are unaltered I will slip and slide around the turns...

4. I wouldn't like this, I liked the fact that they didn't put the name of the car or brand on the seat, I hate that look on infinitis...

5. Pass. this isn't a sport car, it is a gentleman's sport sedan...

6. I really like the wood delete for the steering wheel, and I think a few unique options for paint would be nice... (no flames ).

Done, in the future people, please just click the Report post button instead of flaming back at someone because they are off topic. I cannot read every single post, sorry it took me so long to find this thread.

cschuler: I understand your argument, but thread-jacking is not appropriate, if you want to start a discussion about the dangers of people driving too fast, you are welcome to, but do it in the appropriate section of the forum.

Seats should have more support. Current Taurus SHO, CTS-V have heavy bolstered cockpit seats with suede inserts.
I liked my old T-Bird Super Couple's adjustable side bolsters that hugged you in place. Best seats I ever had. Not needed for the Genesis, but a different front seat is needed.

I for one hope this engine and suspension mods availability filter down to the standard Genesis. This would be my wife's car, and I'm sure she wouldn't like to have the black interior and extra body cladding. But I'm fairly sure I could convince her to get the larger engine if she could pick out the trim options. Perhaps we'll see this in the 2013 model year?
