  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Genesis R-429 hp

Any news of AWD for the R-spec? What about future models of the Genny or EQ? Seems like a no brainer...

I wish! Especially after this winter.

hmm thats a good start. im pushing close to that right now in my '09

with some minor modds IE exhaust, intake, blower, tuner ecu, just might be able to push 550hp. im hoping for a tranny that will handle the torque and even better a twin clutch

Respect you as always, but it sounds like you should have considered the C63 AMG with what you want out of the Genesis:D

I just heard about this the other day. Any word on when this (or any) 2012's will be available? My 4.6 is coming off lease on 3/30 & I'd rent a car for a month (possibly) if I was close to the release date & liked it enough

Announcement of new Genesis engines made in automotive section of Houston Chronicle today.

Some sights say March 31st... but the official Hyundai USA link says Summer 2011.

:(

Ha! Extra money is an incentive, but a 2010 C63 AMG is only around $12,000 - $15,000 more then the loaded 4.6 Genesis. I've had my eye on this car for a while, but I don't think I could deal with the German car headaches:(

I'll stick to the Genesis, it's damn near perfect!:)

This video provides some additional detail for the new 2012 R-spec:

Thanks. Some details that I was unaware of. Big question is when is it available. Also noted that interior looked to be gray and I thought only black was offered in the 5.0.

I agree, the interior looks gray to me in the video. Can anyone please explain what is being shown on the backside of the rearview mirror at 1:34 in to the video in post #31?

The interior is probably black. The gray appearance is an artifact of photographic overexposure. Photos of my black interior look just like that due to the lighting.

Looks like the glass blackout is overexposed and reflected back as tan/grey

For all of you who may live in the South Florida area, I thought you may want to see the following. A few days ago, I had sent an inquiry to Hyundai asking whether the R-Spec would be on display at the Fort Lauderdale Auto Show that is scheduled for April 7 - 10. The following is the response I received today:

"We appreciate your patience while we researched your inquiry regarding the 2012 Genesis R-Spec Sedan.

We are happy to inform you that as of now the 2012 Genesis R-Spec Sedan is scheduled to be on display at the Fort Lauderdale, Florida Auto Show in April. This appearance is subject to change. The release of the 2012 Genesis R-Spec Sedan is expected to be in the summer of 2011."

I wasn't too happy to see the "summer of 2011" comment as I have been hoping that we may see the car available much sooner. I, however, do appreciate Hyundai getting back to me concerning the auto show.

Thanks for info. Was really hoping for a spring release. Of course, release date is always subject to change.

Tompass, the R-Spec cannot get here soon enough for me and I get the impression that you are in the same boat with me on this. Maybe I am just trying to convince myself but I keep thinking about the Ward's award that was given to Hyundai this year for the motor that is in the R-Spec. To be eligible for that award Hyundai had to tell Ward the car would be available for purchase by the end of the first quarter of 2011, i.e., March 31.

Additionally, I have found about three or four articles/blogs on the internet covering the story concerning the Chicago introduction of the R-Spec and those articles say the car will be available in late March. I have no idea what they were basing this on but I am holding out hope for late March.

elohb,
I am with you for sure. I am a bit of a car nut and so enjoyed my recently sold BMW. Now driving, temporarily, what was our the 3rd car a '98 Ford Explorer and hate it. Called local high volume dealer yesterday and they have no idea when they will see delivery of the 5.0. Hyundai also informed me that the R Spec will be at NYC Auto Show.

Done, in the future people, please just click the Report post button instead of flaming back at someone because they are off topic. I cannot read every single post, sorry it took me so long to find this thread.

cschuler: I understand your argument, but thread-jacking is not appropriate, if you want to start a discussion about the dangers of people driving too fast, you are welcome to, but do it in the appropriate section of the forum.

This is disturbing. "Appropriate" is when and if there is relevance. Over-powered cars and DANGEROUS high-speed driving on PUBLIC roads are eminently related topics. There is a ton of "appropriatness" there.

Enjoy your editorial powers and your ego. Just want to let you know that I fully realize that the moderators here have very thin skins. Given their behaviors, that makes sense.

Thread-jacking, INDEED!
