  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey just signed up, thinking of buying a new genesis coupe, just here to learn about them the good and bad, also the differencenes, any pro/cons i should know of?

I hope someone helps you out. I own a 2013 sedan r spec. I test drove the coupe r spec but i hate stright drive. If it wasnt a stright drive i would have gone with coupe as there are more coupe owners which means more meets. Plus it handled much better then sedan of course. :D. Well welcome to the forum i hope we can help in your decision.

Thanks for the reply.... Ive been looking at reviews and other interwebz discussions but i figured i would sign up here and ask the ones who bought them, and actually drive them on a daily basis.....

I've had mine for a week now, 2013 2.0T, M/T with premium package. I came from a 3.8 Genesis sedan. I gave up a few nice features (backup cam, parking sensors, xenons and some other small things) but interior comfort is 90% the same as the sedan to me. The car is better on gas and handles quite nicely. For me it came down to a 2013 or a 2009 G37 Coupe. The Infiniti is more car, everything feels more sturdy, transmission is smoother and has a decent jump in power, but when I could get a 2013 Genesis that has 4 years of warranty remaining and was barely broken in for the same price I couldn't justify the Infiniti. The 2.0T is great now, feels perfectly balanced to the car unlike the 2010-2012 turbo.

You said the 2013 feel more balanced then the 2010-2012s? Whats the difference?

The car itself isn't more balanced, but the power plant suits the car so much better. 2010-2012 you got 210hp and 223 ft/lb torque. In 2013+ you get 271hp and 275 ft/lb torque. The transmission has also been updated wich gives it a better feel. It no longer feels like it's lacking a bunch in the power category. The interior was also completely redone for 2013 and is years ahead of the previous generation.

Mine's a 2011 but I'm so glad I got the Coupe. 3.8 with a 6 speed manual. It's a great car.

I just got back from a short road trip. Two hundred and fifty miles back from Greenbrier County WV. Me, the wife, two clothes bags, my PC, her make up bag (almost the size of my clothes bag), a target/ammo box, my shooter's bag, a couple pistols, two rifles with more ammo, etc. Got 24 mpg. It would do better at 65 mph vs. 77 to 85 mph, but it wouldn't be as much fun.

In 2011 the 3.8 put out about 307 hp. Now they're about 347 hp.

They are fun cars to drive. Mine has just over 30,000 miles on it now. Just wore out the factory tires (Bridgestones). I drive it everywhere, every day, unless its raining. I leave it in the garage and take the truck when its raining. I bought it to be the last new car I'll ever own, so I'm trying to take care of it as best I can.

Just to be clear - same gen, but a more comprehensive MCE.
