  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got my v8 now and wanted to introduce myself on the board. (I was told that I bought the first one in the Philadelphia area but that sounds like dealer BS to me.) Anyways, I love the car. If you can believe it, I was actually shopping for a new civic to complement my bmw 528. Saw the commercials and went to take a look.. Didn't take more than a good lease deal to get my heart set on genesis. Actually, I bought the v6 model first, and then begged my dealer for a redo when their first black v8 came in with the tech package. I think the v6 rode better. The tech package is a must on this car. The v6 didn't have it and the v8 does. Not as much need for the additional 85 horsepower but the tech package is really sweet. I would miss the later, but not the former, for anyone looking to make a choice. The gas mileage on the v8 sucks...so far much worse than I expected.

This is one nice car. I'm toying with the logo change and already purchased the clear film for it (but not installed based on some forum members' views). Re the film, the BMW really took some shots on the front (chips from various road construction in the NJ/PA area) and I would very much like to avoid that on this car. Other interesting thing is I took deliver of her without the normal dealer prep and detail. It was all wrapped-up as it was during shipment. I should have taken some pictures of the detailed way in which Hyundai protected the seats, handles, trim, etc. Even the seat buckles were individually wrapped for protection. This car is all about the details, not brand image. That said, I'm not selling the BMW quite yet as it does offer a different ride experience and is also quite a pleasure to drive. It is destined to become the 'second' car however!

Congratulations, I just leased a V6 over the phone and will pick it up tomorrow. Just curious, if you leased the car, are you planning to purchase it once the lease is over?? With the mods you are planning, I was just wondering why you were putting anything into it. Hope it works for you as I figured 27 months was plenty of time in a newcar. If it's any good, by that time, i'll by the 2011 version which should be more refined and less buggy.

Welcome aboard.... Congrats on the Genesis. It definitely is a fine ride :)

give the car its normal break in period before you start to judge the gas mileage. this normally takes between 500-1000 miles.

gerrb,

If you stay VERY light on the gas pedal ( I do mean very!) you should be able to get 21-23 around town, if it's not stop and go, and better than 25 on the highway. I've only got 600 miles on mine, and have gotten 27 MPG on the highway (actual, calculated) if I take my time to get to 65-70.

PriorityHyundaiVA is correct. The gas mileage should improve as you go along...

Anyway.. Welcome aboard, Gerry! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your new Hyundai Genesis! Look at that! ANOTHER V8 Genesis owner. :)

Your right.

When I drive the Genesis with my steel toe boots for some reason I get about 15 miles to the gallon. When I drive with my Sunday shoes on its about 24.5. I dont get it:cool:

HA!

Cars are like whiskey...they get better with time...or mileage in our case!

I don't know if you're referring to me but I don't have mine yet :(

Looking to get it before end of year...

Actually my question was directed to gerryb, but by pingolf and sonata09 were nice enough to share their findings :) Thanks guys. I'm particullary interested in gerryb's opinion cause he finds the mileage to be " terrible" and I'm wondering what's his number. Is it 2 gallons less then manufacturers numbers? More? I'm playing with the idea of replacing my 2007 Sonata with V8Genesis that's why I need to take under consideration " the worst case scenario" when it comes to fuel usage. I drive almost exclusively in city traffic( chicago), verry often short trips under 5 miles which makes me believe my numbers with V8 engine may be brutally low. Can we create the separate thread about observed fuel consumption?

I believe the worst numbers that I have received in REAL TIME with the MPG meter on the car was 14.9, in the city, dogging it from light to light.

My wife took it to Atlanta and back while setting the cruise on 80mph and got almost 25mpg...according to the real time meter in the car.

THAT IS SWEET to not have cylinder displacement or a hybrid motor!

I have an L4 2009 Sonata and a 4.6 Genesis - the new Sonata is leaps ahead of even the 2007 - about 24-27 in town and 32-35 on the Highway. Now the Genesis depends on PINGGOLF's shoes (;)). Im heading to Texas in 2 weeks, after which I can post some real highway numbers. And Pinggolf, I'll wave as I go through Alabama!
