  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No brake lights !

Just lost all brake lights and came across this thread. Took it to the dealer and told them about the diode, they diagnosed it immediately but had to order the part it will be two days. :(

I had the same issue, brake lamp diode. Easy fix and a $5 part. I did it myself as the local Hyundai dealer said the recall had already been performed on my car so they wouldn’t fix it again.

My brake lights also don't work and I think the diode is at fault. Is this z01 diode still available? Can't seem to find it online.

I have
I have a 2009 4.6 genesis and my brake lights don't work! I have 32,000 miles and someone rolled down their window and let me know today. I checked the stop lamp fuse, 10 Amps, but it was OK. I guess there might be a relay, but I just might take it in. Everything else seems to work.

Did you ever get this fixed? I’m having this very problem, they change my brake switch and it’s been 3days and they’re still not on

Fixed my 139,000 miles, 2010 3.8L Sedan with a new Diode(2P) part No. 91789-33000. I found one helpful US YouTube video with a very short, informative tutorial. I already had Stop Lamp Switch recall service performed a few years back and now my car is older than the ten years most safety recalls are covered for. The diode is hidden within the wire loom above the left foot panel. You literally must very carefully sever the entire wire loom, unravel the insulating tape and shielding to find it. It took me hours to figure it out, even after viewing the short US YouTube video. I later also found one Asian YouTube video with better video quality that the US tutorial by searching YouTube with only the part number without dashes or spaces.

Did you ever figure out the problem I just bought a 2009 Hyundai Genesis and cannot find the diode that needs to be replaced is that what your problem was?
Yes the $6 diode fixed my problem. It took me over an hour to find the diode. It's very high up under the dash on the driver's side floor inside a wire loom that I had to cut open. Best of luck to you. Link to a YouTube video:

That video doesn't really show what the little diode "holder" looks like way up under there it's not under the dash it's under the firewall near the left foot on the driver's side of the vehicle which that video sort of explains.. however the area that it's located in I believe is under some yellow tape and you definitely have to dissect that area very carefully.. and you have to stand on your head practically to get to it.. really crappy design by genesis.... I believe that the dealer would have charged me a fortune if I went in there and didn't know what the hell I was talking about so I'm grateful that I did find some information but there's no way a senior citizen like myself could have stood on my head and crushed my rib cage and shoulder to get at that thing with him on the hand I have no idea how the mechanic got in there... But next time I will try now that I know where it is they wouldn't tell me where it was either I think the dealer wants you to come in and spend a lot of money it's really a shame. If I am violating anything on this site I apologized I'm fairly frustrated because it's really difficult to navigate this thing I'm not sure how to do it anyway thanks for your help and I will try again if I ever have a problem.. coincidentally my right turn signal was out as well.

Any one have any issues with 2009 genisis brakes lights not working?
I I know the 2011 Genesis sedans had a recall for brake light relay.
