  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No sound out of speakers

Are you sure you had the "Balance" and "Fade" set in your DIS Screen? I forget what screen the settings are in, but you (or your dealer) should have double checked that they were set.

I once checked my rear and side speakers by setting the balance and fade so that only the rear would work, or only one side or the other would work.

Yes they did check the balance and fade and still didn't work. Then they replaced the head unit, the speakers, and the unit where the knob is and guess what happened now. When the balance and fade is right in the middle..no sound comes out of the left rear door. When the balance and fade is set to that door only, sounds come out. They had to call a special tech to come to the dealership. Still waiting for them to set up an appointment.

This bug bit me too. Happened for the 2nd time this morning (around 13,800 miles) ; last time was about 2 months ago.
When it goes silent you can not even hear the distance sensor.
I hope that I am not the 1st at my dealership to have had the problem.

Had the same problem twice. After the 2nd time, took it in to the dealer and they replaced the amp. had it back in 2 days( had to order the amp). No hassles at all. Ed Voiles in Atlanta was very competent and professional.

I've been vaguely aware of this thread over the past year or so, and now after 16 months and 25K+ miles, it happened to me for the first time. I started the car this morning after a night in the garage (so no thermal extremes either way), and encountered absolutely no audio output. I pulled over twice on my way to work and stopped/restarted the car (albeit for only 10 seconds or so each time), but still nothing. I just ran an errand now and all is well. This really seems like a random problem, affecting some owners often, some rarely and some not at all. I guess I'll wait for a repeat occurence before engaging the dealer. Oh, and I guess I need to pull the paperwork and make sure the AV system is included in the extended warranty coverage I bought. One bright side to all this is that I was reminded of just how well-insulated this car is...I rarely have the AV system off, but when it is, very little external noise intrudes into the cabin!

Add me to the list. The car only has 6500mi on her and this is the second time it has happened. The first time was a very short time... from what I remember because I didn't know it was a problem at the time. Today however, I can not get the system working at all. I hope when I hop in the car tomorrow morning it works because I have an hour commute. If not, I'll call the dealer.

I have 3,200 miles on my car, 6 with Tech. Happened today and about 2 weeks ago..................

Like wfk experienced, this problem has been traced to the amplifier. Ed Voyles replaced the amp in my v6 Tech and the sound has worked fine since then.

Does anyone know if there is an official TSB or something similar on the HMAservice website? All I could find was something for mid level systems not including ones with NAV. Thanks in advance.

My problem occured yesterday. I got in the car and could not turn the volume up You could hear sound coming from the speaker but it was very faint. I stopped the car and restarted but this had no affect. I decided to go into the audio settings an pressed the option to restore factory defaults. The volume came on what seemed like full volume and could not be turned down. Even when I turned the AV off, as indicated by the display, it still was at full volume. I turned the car off and it still it would not turn off. I drove to the dealer and they were going to give me a loaner, but after about 10 minutes I noticed there was no sound coming from my car. I started it and unit worked normally.

So all was fixed while at the dealer? Did they notice that there was a problem?

They did but before they could write up a service tag it went away by itself.

Hey Andy,
Did you ever find out what the problem was? I had the same thing to happen, just so happens I was near the dealer and let them see the problem. lots of confused looks from those guys. I turned the car off and all was working again, they are going to replace the sound amp tomorrow. They said that the part is reconditioned, I ask why not new they said that is guaranteed.

My 3.8 Tech has done this several times. The dealer cannot find the fault, and cannot recreate the problem. I have found changing the radio station, or going from radio to cd gets the sound back. Seems like the unit hangs up on the self test every once in a while.

Same thing happened to me. Took it to the Dealership. They tested the amp and couldn't find anything wrong. They called Hyundai and they had them try a couple test and couldn't find anything but Hyundai told them to go ahead and replace the amp. The amp had to be ordered in and the amp was on back order.
That kind of tells me that they are replacing alot of these. I got mine installed today and I had to reset up my XM account with the new XM ID. So far so good but it's only been a few hours since I picked it up.

You had no problems whatsoever transferring your XM/NavTraffic to your new amp?
Man, I've been trying to get it to work for almost about a month now.
Currently working on a case with HMA to get this issue resolved.

Let me know how you got it to work, if there was anything else than calling XM.

Dan

Problem of no sound hit for third time (17,000 miles on 2010 4.6 tech). Thanks to post on forum, I did not turn car off but drove to dealership so they could verify.

They did, ordered a new amp and remarked, "good thing this is under warranty, it costs $3300". Amp will be here in 10 days.

Will ask that they make sure XM subscription is transferred to new amp.

Hamilton Hyundai, Chambersburg, PA doing a great job (they also provide free oil changes and car washes and lifetime powertrain warranty - called dealer for life program).

Add me to the list. Went to church yesterday, listening to XM on the way. When I came out the XM, AM, FM, Voice Controls were not working. Went home and tried again after breakfast. Still not working. After lunch, about 1:30PM everything was back up. After browsing this thread today, I called the dealership and was told to bring the vehicle right in. The service tech checked out systems, fuses etc, called "Higher Up" and said that the problem was in the "Control Head" which I understand is the unit which routes the voltage from the various controls to their functions. ie: XM, AM, FM etc. He seemed to be awarte of this problem so I'm sure that I'm not the only person to come in with this complaint. Part is being ordered so I'll keep in touch here.

I have 14,690 miles and it happened for the 1st time. I also tried the quick starts and that did not work. After shutting it down for 10 minutes everything worked again.
1st thing I did was go on the forum to research this.
Will contact the dealer tomorrow.
I am also thinking of buying an extended warranty.
I also do not want to pay 3 or 4 thousand.
